Actor DOLPH LUNDGREN battling cancer fore 8 years - wonders if steroids-use caused the cancer

Dolph Lundgren says he's locked in an eight-year battle with cancer ... revealing his diagnosis for the first time.

The Swedish actor opens up about his cancer battle on the nationally syndicated interview series, "In Depth With Graham Bensinger," revealing he was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015.

Dolph says he eventually went into remission but then the cancer came back in 2020, when a doctor gave him a terminal cancer diagnosis, telling him he only had 2-3 years to live.

When the cancer came back, Dolph's fiancée Emma Krokdal says doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center told him he had tumors in his lungs, stomach, spine and kidneys ... and Dolph was resigned to the fact he would likely die soon.

Fortunately for Dolph, he says he went for a second opinion with Dr. Alexandra Drakaki and her treatments are making his tumors shrink.

It's interesting ... Dolph admits to using steroids back in the day and wonders if the drugs have some connection to his cancer.

Inspiration for much personal spillage -and he still looks hot . Hope he can recover

A guy I used to date just found out he has a brain tumor. Big roid head. I asked him if he thought they were the cause and he said he didn't care if they were; the bod was worth it.

A tumah.

by Anonymousreply 3May 10, 2023 8:50 PM

R3 beat me to it

by Anonymousreply 4May 10, 2023 8:52 PM

I think Dolph in his prime might have been the best looking blond guy who ever walked the earth.

by Anonymousreply 5May 10, 2023 8:59 PM

R5 I agree. He was so hot back then - gave me many boners in my 20s.

by Anonymousreply 6May 10, 2023 9:04 PM

Possible first gay crush when Masters of the Universe was released when I was a kid. I hope he can continue kicking the cancer’s ass indefinitely.

by Anonymousreply 7May 10, 2023 9:04 PM

When they announce, it's time for the reaper to pounce.

by Anonymousreply 8May 10, 2023 9:07 PM

He looks even better today than when he was young but then again I'm a daddy lover.

by Anonymousreply 9May 10, 2023 9:08 PM

Where did the cancer originate? Tumors in the lung, kidneys etc. could be metastasized colon cancer or something else.

by Anonymousreply 10May 10, 2023 9:09 PM

He's a forever dong. One of maybe 3 blonds I have found hot, he's just one of the most beautiful and hot men ever. ever.

by Anonymousreply 11May 10, 2023 9:37 PM

[quote]He was so hot back then - gave me many boners in my 20s.

Anyone and anything can give you many boners in your 20s.

by Anonymousreply 12May 10, 2023 9:40 PM

Sound like the primary is lung- it was never really gone and metastatic spread such as he has, common with lung cancers. Too bad- life is short- no easy exit.

by Anonymousreply 13May 10, 2023 9:51 PM

Does he mention that he was a big fan of cigars? Sometimes four a day.

He also hoovered up mountains of cocaine back in the Grace Jones days (but who didn't?). Rooting for him -- ugh. Didn't know about the cancer.

I hope he beats it. I like the guy and he was and is, hot.

by Anonymousreply 17May 10, 2023 10:14 PM

So sexy. Hope he makes it.

by Anonymousreply 18May 10, 2023 10:32 PM

The unsexy guys. I hope they don’t make it.

A friend from college was a chain smoker, gave it up in his late forties, and now at age 60 has lung cancer, and is surprised since he gave it up over 10 years ago. I wanted to tell him the damage that was done to his respiratory membrane and immune system doesn't completely heal when one stops smoking, but I didn't want to make him feel worse about his situation.

by Anonymousreply 20May 11, 2023 12:00 AM

As y’all probably know, anyone with lungs can get lung cancer. No risk factors required. In fact, only about 10% of smokers are diagnosed with the disease. If, however, you have a significant smoking history, there is screening available. Early detection is key. Current Guidelines: 50 to 80 years old and in fairly good health, and currently smoke or have quit in the past 15 years, have at least a 20 pack-year smoking history. (This is the number of packs of cigarettes per day multiplied by the number of years smoked. For example, someone who smoked 2 packs a day for 10 years [2 x 10 = 20] has 20 pack-years of smoking, as does a person who smoked 1 pack a day for 20 years [1 x 20 = 20].)

3 of my uncles on my Ma's side smoked like chimneys since they were 13 or 14 (and drank just as much, too), and all three lived until their mid-nineties. Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 22May 11, 2023 12:26 AM

I worked with him in 2018, and he was a teddy bear. A hot Daddy teddy bear. I've always wondered what his and Grace's kid/s would look like- hideous because they used up all the good looking genes, or otherworldly stunning.

by Anonymousreply 23May 11, 2023 12:30 AM

They would be gorgeous.

by Anonymousreply 24May 11, 2023 12:33 AM

He had a hot ass but he couldn't live forever.

If he was chain smoking up until his late 40s, I don't know how he's surprised at consequences. My mom didn't chain smoke, but she quit around late 40s - died of lung cancer, anyway.

by Anonymousreply 27May 11, 2023 5:01 PM

My cousin chain-smoked since high school (late 60s). Was diagnosed with lung cancer on her birthday (Aug 1) in 2017, and died nine months later at age 68. She was able to attend her son's wedding two weeks prior (her son had to keep rescheduling his wedding that year, consulting with her doctors to see how much time she had left so she could be there). This woman - who was strikingly beautiful all her life, looked like a frail corpse at the wedding. So sad to see.

Young Dolph dated Grace Jones. Brigitte Neilsen I think said that she and Dolph were just friends.

Dolpph would probably have a Nobel Prize in Chemistry by now if he hadn't hooked up with Grace.

Lundgren received a degree in chemical engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the early 1980s and a master's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney in 1982. He holds the rank of 4th dan black belt in Kyokushin karate and was European champion in 1980–81.

While Lundgren was completing a master's degree in chemical engineering on an exchange program with the University of Sydney in Australia, Jones spotted him at a dance club and hired him as a bodyguard. Lundgren was whisked off to the United States, where he completed his final thesis.

He received a Fulbright scholarship to MIT and moved to Boston. Jones convinced him to leave the university and move to New York City to be with her and begin acting, where, after a short stint as a model and bouncer at the Manhattan nightclub The Limelight, Lundgren got a small debut role as a KGB henchman in the James Bond film A View to a Kill.

He speaks Swedish and English fluently, as well as smaller amounts of French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.

by Anonymousreply 31May 14, 2023 2:22 AM

Even worse he now looks like Dennis Leary.

by Anonymousreply 32May 14, 2023 2:32 AM

I thought he died right after "Gimme A Break" went off the air.

by Anonymousreply 33May 14, 2023 2:32 AM

He really did grow up into a handsome and distinguished man, unlike Stallone who resorted to hideous plastic surgery and STILL ended up looking like his mother. Dolph also turned into a stronger actor. He was good in Creed II.

by Anonymousreply 34May 14, 2023 2:32 AM

nope he's not hot anymore

he's not ugly but he didn't maintain the hotness over the years

He was super hot in the 80s though

by Anonymousreply 35May 14, 2023 2:52 AM

How hot can one be living with cancer over 8 years?

by Anonymousreply 36May 14, 2023 6:37 AM

It’s rare for blondes to age well.

by Anonymousreply 37May 14, 2023 6:49 AM

He still looks like Rutger Hauer in his prime bitches, calm down.

by Anonymousreply 38May 14, 2023 6:50 AM

He looks really good for someone who’s battled cancer for years. I’m surprised he didn’t go the surgery and Botox route of so many of his peers.
