DL: Tell me about The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane

I watched this film starring then baby dyke Jodi Foster and Martin Sheen. I thought it was a very good film, but it doesn’t seem to get much mention, especially in comparison to Taxi Driver.

An awful film. Save for the scene where Jodie dispatches Alexis Smith with a blunt object.

This is a great film! But it made no sense for Renn to try to live an independent life as a minor in a small village. In a city, she would not have attracted attention.

The magician boyfriend was cute.

R5 I also thought so.

I don't think I've ever watched this movie. I'll give it a watch, though. Martin Sheen did a movie with Linda Blair ( I believe), back in the 70's, called Sweet Hostage. I remember really liking it. Has anyone ever seen it?

I thought Alexis Smith was excellent as the meddling, nosy landlady who gets brained by the trapdoor to the basement.

I love it.

I bought the DVD

It's on Tubi and it is grim. Not feel good watching

So few letters to manage, and yet......

Scott Jacoby was fine in this, but his performance opposite Jodie's made it clear she wasn't just a good child actor, she was a good actor, period, and from a very young age.

Sheen played the gay lover of Scott Jacoby's dad in That Certain Summer.

Jodie and Alexis: talk about dyke energy!

I went to high school with Scott Jacobs’s truly certifiable cousin—she wanted to be Karen Carpenter and always talked about her cousin Scott. She was sad and went around the halls singing, “Every sha la la, Every whoa-oh-oh.” Naturally we all made fun of her because we were asshole teenagers.

It's like an ABC Afterschool Special rated 'R'. The music score is dorky (created by Mort Schuman, who plays the cop). But the classical music is fine, and makes the final scene kinda genius.

Bad wig

by Anonymousreply 17May 10, 2023 10:31 PM

Also, ugly 1970s costumes and makeup. Martin Sheen has boyish good looks that held up in an ugly era for personal fashion
