What is your favorite type of thread of DL thread?

I like any thread about classic Hollywood, threads with life hacks, and threads that encourage everyone to post memories whether it’s a favorite song, toy, or story. It’s fun to see everyone open up, share a little bit about themselves, and to be reminded of forgotten songs or breakfast cereals.

by Anonymousreply 66May 13, 2023 5:18 AM

Oh, dearing myself.

by Anonymousreply 1May 10, 2023 12:09 PM

"truths you can't say out loud" kind of threads

by Anonymousreply 2May 10, 2023 12:12 PM

Being over the hill and not being noticed by the hot 🥵 guys anymore or being over the hill and NEVER were noticed by the hot 🥵 guys.

by Anonymousreply 3May 10, 2023 12:13 PM

Like the current “unpopular opinion”? I like those, too: they are very cathartic.

by Anonymousreply 4May 10, 2023 12:14 PM

The ones where we turn on each other and demonstrate our fears of intimacy and self-acceptance. Those are a riot!

by Anonymousreply 5May 10, 2023 12:15 PM

"Who are the biggest druggies in Hollywood?" from years ago, was enlightening.

by Anonymousreply 6May 10, 2023 12:16 PM

The Kevin Sessums ones, for those of us acquainted with him, are hilariously cunty.

by Anonymousreply 7May 10, 2023 12:17 PM

The kind where the OP gets the title right the first time.

by Anonymousreply 8May 10, 2023 12:18 PM

I enjoy shady dishing, particularly about pompous or craven celebrities and politicos. When a gossip thread here contains what seems like plausible personal stories or encounters with celebrities, whether appalling or pleasant, it's great.

And I admit I very much enjoy(ed) the Miss Warwick threads before the trolls set in.

Frauen threads have pretty much been played out, but they were fun for a long time.

And the more brilliant "Let's Be" threads. So many witty and insightful people here. At least there were....

by Anonymousreply 9May 10, 2023 12:20 PM

I love the “Let’s be” threads. Always so fun and creative. Also a big fan of the BRF threads. Hate all the Trump threads though. Put him to rest DL.

by Anonymousreply 10May 10, 2023 12:33 PM

THE CLEANING/HOUSEKEEPING threads!!!

Lots of good ideas and tips. HIGHLY posted by many OCDers which make those threads fun and funny!

by Anonymousreply 11May 10, 2023 12:34 PM

I like getting some insight into the personal lives of the other posters, I use DL to replace having a family.

by Anonymousreply 12May 10, 2023 12:36 PM

I also enjoy the history threads. For example, "The Romanovs", "Slavery/Reconstruction", "World War 2". etc. There are REALLY a lot of smart and well-read posters here on DL

Many of the fashion and some of the old film threads.

by Anonymousreply 13May 10, 2023 12:43 PM

Hot guys, hot guys, hot guys!

by Anonymousreply 14May 10, 2023 12:43 PM

I like the imaginative threads which is where DL shines. Some of you are really good at those. The long ago threads that were about an office and responses came from Ginny in Billing. The thread about the neighbor who was a gargoyle. Those are my favorites.

by Anonymousreply 15May 10, 2023 12:45 PM

R8

Yeah, it was sloppy but I did give myself an “Oh, Dear”.

I’m usually good at cutting/pasting to rewrite a sentence but it wasn’t happening this morning. And on a thread title, no less!

by Anonymousreply 16May 10, 2023 12:53 PM

I love posts from DLers that share personal interactions they’ve had with celebrities. Good or bad.

by Anonymousreply 17May 10, 2023 1:06 PM

Totally nuts threads. They make me laugh. Yes, I mean threads like the From North Troll threads!

by Anonymousreply 18May 10, 2023 1:08 PM

I never got to read that one but the legend looms large!

by Anonymousreply 19May 10, 2023 5:31 PM

Rimming

by Anonymousreply 20May 10, 2023 5:45 PM

Travel threads and some political ones. I avoid anything about the British Royalty and North.

by Anonymousreply 21May 10, 2023 5:53 PM

I enjoy references to the Brooklyn Seacow even though I have absolutely no idea who that is or what it is referencing or the story behind it, but the vitriol it brings out is most amusing.

by Anonymousreply 22May 10, 2023 5:55 PM

I like em stupid and funny.

In fact, the more moronic the better.

Just make it funny, ok?

Sincerely, TT

by Anonymousreply 23May 10, 2023 6:04 PM

I LURVE the breaking of common mores threads like putting bread in the refrigerator or baked potato bar

by Anonymousreply 24May 10, 2023 6:06 PM

I’m a thespian

by Anonymousreply 25May 10, 2023 6:07 PM

classic hollywood / tasteful friends / let's be (a movie) / Mia farrow threads / Ben Affleck threads (always hysterical) /Luke Evans threads with pics of his cancerous, overburnt crocodile skin/ GOOP threads. My least favorite are the political threads (please, really) / the lez threads (nobody here cares about even Barbara Stanwyck or Ava Gardner) /the young Hollywood androgynous set/ the pop stars threads (pop music is shit)

by Anonymousreply 26May 10, 2023 6:15 PM

Anything funny. When you fuckers whip out that rapier wit (especially if it’s R1), I sometimes spit out my coffee. But it’s gotta be truly funny, witty.

by Anonymousreply 27May 10, 2023 6:26 PM

Tasteful friends threads on real estate offerings - but good houses or, if they must be bad, really strangely bad, or time capsule houses (not just an ugly house in an ugly place where no one would ever want yo live anyway)

Random things and experiences - Ever seen a dead body in the street? Your friend or relative with an interesting criminal past? A random kindness for your benefit that sticks with you over time?

Travel. I'm always surprised when, say, Bergamo will pop up and two DLers lived there or kept a second home there and has interesting insights.

News and discussion of places outside the U.S., especially good first-hand accounts that counter the heavily-U.S. composition of DL.

Personal passions: some odd thing collected, or a habit turned into an elaborate ritual.

Threads on films and literature and art that turn up something deeper than the usual surface insights and gags (e.g., jokes about "Frank Lloyd Wrong").

by Anonymousreply 28May 10, 2023 6:33 PM

My favorites include financial threads of all kinds, threads about cars and other major purchases, and threads in which DL discusses/investigates sensational crimes, which tend to be multi-part series when they're really good (e.g., the Spaide-Goy murders). Threads about spats between partners can be good too, even if they're ESTs sometimes.

by Anonymousreply 29May 10, 2023 6:35 PM

[quote] even if they're ESTs sometimes.

if ?? Oh, dearie, nobody here has a boyfriend, or even seen a dick IRL in the past 15 years

by Anonymousreply 30May 10, 2023 6:37 PM

R27 My LOL/tears in my eyes/spit take thread is “What did you do as a young gayling that gave it away?”. I howled at some of the comments.

by Anonymousreply 31May 11, 2023 1:32 AM

Sad last days, downward spirals, Tina Turner wall clock theft threads and hobo and hobo against threads

by Anonymousreply 32May 11, 2023 1:37 AM

Also ghost stories

by Anonymousreply 33May 11, 2023 1:37 AM

I miss the Michfest threads

by Anonymousreply 34May 11, 2023 1:39 AM

Lesbian nutloaf threads

by Anonymousreply 35May 11, 2023 1:39 AM

I like the crime threads when they take a hilarious turn. Like the one about the three Oklahoma guys riding bikes who were killed or the hillbillies in Florida who got murdered under sheriffs Grady Judds watch

by Anonymousreply 36May 11, 2023 1:42 AM

Cute guys with dogs

by Anonymousreply 37May 11, 2023 1:44 AM

Sitcoms of the 70s.

by Anonymousreply 38May 11, 2023 1:45 AM

Travel, of which there hasn't been much lately.

Don't care for the endless royal family, Trump, Cockgobbler/Cawthorne, and weird do you smell your own farts-type threads.

by Anonymousreply 39May 11, 2023 1:47 AM

Shithole towns and depressing towns threads

by Anonymousreply 40May 11, 2023 1:48 AM

Yes….the Michfest threads kept me laughing and entertained for days. Wonder what Sara is up to these days.

Penis-based

by Anonymousreply 42May 11, 2023 1:51 AM

Also, hot East Indian dudes, you guys come up with the best stuff on those.

by Anonymousreply 43May 11, 2023 1:56 AM

Anti-smoking threads are always fun and polarizing. I don’t get the uptick in DLers obsession with nuns and their habits. Also the quarterly debate amongst eldergays: Are self-checkout machines a good thing or bad?

by Anonymousreply 44May 11, 2023 1:32 PM

Dogs vs. cats, because the dogs usually win.

by Anonymousreply 45May 11, 2023 5:49 PM

On Datalounge? Are you kidding me?

I'm with R23. I adore DL humor. It is my life's dream to be so witty as some of you crazy kids. Pretty much any thread that isn't politics has the potential to spiral out of control and I love it. The cuntier the better.

Also, anything ghost-related is always great. Do you guys remember a couple years ago there was a thread about a guy who had bought a vacation home (Vermont? Maine? Upstate NY?)? And after he and his husband renovated it they started having hauntings? He'd been keeping us up to date. Last I remember they'd brought in a group of paranormal investigators for the weekend. What ever happened there? I love that shit.

by Anonymousreply 50May 11, 2023 8:05 PM

I ❤️‘d the Mommie Dearest Covid thread 🧵.

I was laughing 😝 my ass off at some of the responses.

by Anonymousreply 51May 11, 2023 8:11 PM

Fashion threads for award shows, Met Gala et al. Movie quote threads.

by Anonymousreply 52May 11, 2023 8:32 PM

I want to laugh. I want to cry. I want it to be better than CATS.

by Anonymousreply 53May 11, 2023 8:37 PM

It starts off as an EST thread about something sexual like first time seeing a guy naked, but instead of describing the naked guy the poster(s) describe the room and provenance of its furnishings in minute detail.

by Anonymousreply 54May 12, 2023 2:52 AM

I love giving advice, no matter what it is. Medical, love life, job advice, etc. I enjoy the political threads. I love the murder mysteries and crime threads. I love the history threads. I am repeatedly reminded of how smart and fun we are, and I'm also going to say that while we are bitchy and mean we are also compassionate. I just like being here. Thanks Muriel. No, really.

by Anonymousreply 55May 12, 2023 3:37 AM

Also love the threads about books and movies.

by Anonymousreply 56May 12, 2023 3:37 AM

I'm amazed by the Janet Jackson vs Madonna threads personally. Everyone else in the free world has moved on to other pop girls, but DL stays loyal to the old gals

by Anonymousreply 57May 12, 2023 3:44 AM

There have been a few hilarious "Let's Be" threads. One surprisingly funny thread was "Let's Be a Victorian House."

by Anonymousreply 58May 12, 2023 4:01 AM

Threads about gay guys.

by Anonymousreply 59May 12, 2023 4:05 AM

Travel threads

Book threads

Film threads

Cute shit aka Dollface threads

History threads

Non-US politics threads

My all-time favorite threads are those that delve into the personal, that compel DLers to drop the cunty motherfucker fascade and turn an anonymous board into a warm, thoughtful, heartfelt platform of delightfully caring and insightful posters in that yeah, me too kinda way. The Brotherhood of DLers at its finest.

by Anonymousreply 60May 12, 2023 7:41 AM

R60 Absolutely.

Bill's dying thread was something else.

by Anonymousreply 61May 12, 2023 11:04 PM

I really liked the lot lizard thread and the unexpected turn it took

by Anonymousreply 62May 13, 2023 4:16 AM

The Generation threads. Gallons of bile spewed like no tomorrow.

by Anonymousreply 63May 13, 2023 5:00 AM

ESTs-- the Shit Brickhouse Troll, BILL TAYLOR, etc.

by Anonymousreply 64May 13, 2023 5:03 AM

Comments on the HBO, Showtime, Netflix… series shows. I enjoy bantering over the plots and character development.

by Anonymousreply 65May 13, 2023 5:12 AM

TRAAAAANS!!!!! I think it’s an interesting topic and I wish we could actually talk about it without it being removed.
