John Cleese
Tall, public school, and Cambridge educated, he appears at first glance to epitomize the sort of character he has lampooned for most of his life.
He became famous at the end of the '60's as the tallest and many thought funniest member of the team who made Monty Python's Flying Circus. He followed this with the hotel owner Basil Fawlty, who in only 12 episodes for television, displayed the expressed the rage of a manic Englishman in a way which has engraved itself on the national consciousness. Since then, he has focused on films: The Life of Brian, Clockwise, and the hugely successful A Fish Called Wanda.
"You feel an enormous pressure to conform. A lot of what I have been doing is trying to is escape from that." He is the writer and performer John Cleese.

One of the funniest men ever. He was a barrister before he went into comedy.

As a horny teen in the late 90s I remember having to leave the living room and have a wank when he stripped of in "A Fish Called Wanda". I'm sure he showed his dick but maybe my sex-crazed brain imagined it! No we didn't have the internet.

Cleese was very tall, broad, masculine, and handsome when he was young. He definitely did it for me. Not so much these days. Aging is a bitch.

In England a “public school” is actually a private school that charges tuition.

John (and Connie Booth) run around in the nude for much of the running time of this short feature.

Isn't the nutty therapist in AbFab based on one of his wives?

I forgot there were so few episodes. His policeman/pedestrian hook-up skit on Monty Python was electrifying. I would have been nine or ten, but I understood everything about that connection and I feared my family understood its effect on me.
He delivers great physical strength/stamina. I think Steve Martin and Jim Carrey benefited.
Most importantly (to me), he gave a cool speech on the importance of humor and its usefulness in destroying solemnity.

Saw him live after a screening of “Holy Grail” a few years ago, and he was curmudgeonly, hilarious, and magnificent, pot-belly and all.

Many years ago I saw him on PBS in The Taming of the Shrew and thought he was nothing less than amazing in it.

I thought for a moment this is a poorly executed John-Cleese-is-dead-to-me thread. Don’t do this to me, OP!

Loved John Cleese on Monty Python.
Michael Palin was considered the most handsome of the Python ensemble cast.
