I agree with a lot of these! Some to add:
-I have heard several people say that grammar is a racist construct. I think this is absolute bullshit, since grammar is supposed to be taught to all students in all schools in the US regardless of race etc. If English is your native language and you don’t know basic concepts like their/there/they’re by the time you finish school, you’re just ignorant.
-I also don’t think it’s racist/fatphobic/etc to generally not be sexually attracted to people of a certain race or body type. In my entire life, I have only been sexually attracted to maybe three black men and no obese men. This does not make me a racist or fatphobic any more than being gay makes me a misogynist. And whenever I have hooked up or dated outside of my preferences, I have regretted it afterwards.
-I think the whole ritual of graduation is stupid. People travel sometimes huge distances to watch their loved ones walk across a stage as a result of doing the bare minimum it took to pass their classes. I also think that weddings can fall into a similar category of being stupid and self-centered (especially when held in locations that are inconvenient for their attendees), though I do more understand their purpose.
-I agreed with those above who are saying that all wine tastes basically the same until I tried Dom Perignon. When I drank that, something clicked and I understood that it genuinely was better than any champagne or sparkling wine I had ever had. That said, I usually can’t tell the difference between a $10 bottle and a $100 bottle.
-I don’t see the point of veganism. These animals are being raised specifically for the purpose of producing eggs, milk, and meat. If you take away consumers, the animals just wouldn’t be born in the first place.
-I acknowledge that white privilege exists and that I benefit from it, but there are other kinds of privilege that outweigh it. For example, I think a non-white person who is straight and rich is better off than a white person who is queer and poor.
-It is not my job as a cis person to understand the plight of trans and non-binary people. While I will always respect their rights, pronouns, and existence, there is an innate difference between *identifying* and *being*, and I simply can’t imagine what it must feel like to be born in the wrong body.
-If you were anti-mask and/or anti-vax at the time when the pandemic was at its worst, you are a bad person. I don’t care about your political affiliation or exposure to misinformation/rhetoric; this was basic logic and elementary level science.
