I know a few of you Knots Landing fans will be overjoyed at this upcoming interview.
Laura Avery!

She's using some heavy Kari Lake filters in that "current" picture up there.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 5, 2023 7:50 PM |
I had to share in honor of the poster/troll we had years back who was always signing their posts with whatever "Constance" might have been snacking on at the moment.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 5, 2023 7:54 PM |
Laura and Richard were my favorites. I still remember Laura driving herself to hospice never to be seen again And her funeral episode was one of the best.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 5, 2023 9:36 PM |
Was she the one with the great pivot? Who was the one with the great pivot?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | May 5, 2023 9:38 PM |
that was Barrie Youngfellow among others R5

Hide the Mallomars!!!
by Anonymous | reply 8 | May 5, 2023 10:04 PM |
A favorite character of mine who rec'd a fine send-off and whose daughter was raised by Mac and Karen (and NOT Sumner). I think Meg ended up with Brian at the end of a reunion program, right? How whack is that? Abbey having to "nice" to Laura's daughter!
Of all the night time soaps, KL deserved a reboot... actually they should have started a spin-off before KL ended, but no one asked me.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 5, 2023 10:41 PM |
R7 / R8- TRUST ME-Mallomars are NOT on the shelves this time of year. I believe they return in January.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 6, 2023 3:10 PM |
I think she's a shrink now. Would it be weird to have her as a doctor?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 6, 2023 3:42 PM |
I hear she is slowly and progressively adding 20lb weights to her face as she lays flat on the floor as preparation for this event.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 6, 2023 3:44 PM |
I’ll be there! Love Constance.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | May 6, 2023 4:43 PM |
The reunion movie ended with both Karen and Abby finding out they were going to be grandmothers. That was around 1995, I believe - so their 'grandchildren' would be 28 now. Laura's daughter seemed to young for Abby's son. It would have made for an ideal spin-off in the 2000s.
One thing the writers did correctly on this show was taking a chance writing off main characters (such as Laura) to make way for new - and often younger - talent to keep their viewership up by attracting younger viewers. Seemed like every season, an older character was on their way out. This is how the show survived in the ratings for 14 seasons and could've gone on longer (though CBS had cut its budget severely in the 1992-93 season, and everyone called it quits).
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 6, 2023 5:10 PM |
Not true. You can go back to the Donahue cast interview and Shackelford says they cut McCashin because of budget, not story.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 6, 2023 6:02 PM |
I agree with R15, I think KL was ripe for a spin-off of younger characters who could have sustained a new TV show.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 6, 2023 8:24 PM |
Word on the streets is that Connie Mc-See is hung like a MOOSE!!!
Oh wait! That was just an entire row of Oreos she stuck in the pocket of her Size 16 CULOTTES!!!
Old Cunt.

R19 She hasn't been LIVE! for quite some time.

Poor Alan. He was attracting nice audiences during the height of the pandemic.
But the bloom is off the rose.

But that makes no sense. McCashin left the show in '87, and Meg was at most 3 years old. So in 1995, she would have been eleven. Brian for sure would have been adult aged because he was probably born around 1970/71.

Knots Landing and sense severed their partnership shortly after the late lamented Sid's demise r23.

She could have talked about her MODELING years!
Can little Miss McCashin do THAT? I think not.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 6, 2023 11:25 PM |
Does anyone else think that Constance McCashin resembles Beth Broderick somewhat?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 6, 2023 11:34 PM |
R26 Nope. Only you do.

by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 6, 2023 11:59 PM |
I believe that Michele Lee appeared in every episode. In the last season when the main actors didn't appear in every episode for budget reasons, Lee agreed to work for scale in some episodes so she wouldn't miss an episode.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 7, 2023 12:04 AM |
R31 You are correct.

I'm here for Laura's posthumous videotaped message.

R4 I recall season 1 Laura had a “saucy daytime housewife” barhopping / sex addiction

Beth Broderick played a lot of sexy parts early on, too. In “Bonfire of the Vanities” she Xeroxed her puss on a copy machine.

R36 In The Devil’s Candy she talks about how that scene took 9 hours to film and was deeply humiliating, particularly since she was in a relationship with De Palma at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | May 7, 2023 5:43 AM |
That’s such an amazing book! The stupid producers were so convinced they were making the next blockbuster epic (but artistic!) they invited that New Yorker writer to document the entire process, from initial casting to premier. But after the first day she was like, “Oh, DEAR!”
You end up hating practically everyone but Kim Cattrall.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | May 7, 2023 6:06 AM |
In an effort never see threads about certain topics, I've had to block certain DL posters... I'd use the "ignore" icon, but it does not work.
Now, when reading threads, there are posts I don't see... like this one: I have no idea what R36 wrote and R37 replied to.
Interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | May 7, 2023 10:00 AM |
The show was going with Sumner/Paige or Sumner/Abby, so poor Laura was left out to dry. Almost as stupid as GL firing Ellen Parker. Laura told the truth, and was saucier than Karen or Val. The show missed that.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | May 7, 2023 10:12 AM |
r38 I love kim’s takedown of her husband, aka “the cake crumbs” scene…which De Palma fought to keep in. (With young Kiki Dunst.)
by Anonymous | reply 42 | May 7, 2023 1:08 PM |
R36 Beth Broderick got her start in X-rated movies. She starred in two porn films in the 1980s under the names "Norris O'Neal" and "Alison Broderick."
These were productions by porn and B-movie sex comedy director Chuck Vincent. She was good friends with him, and his death from AIDS is what made her a strong AIDS activist in the 80s and 90s.

Laura was a unique character in that she was primarily supporting and she had a droll, no-nonsense vibe that really played well off Abby and Greg, her primary scene partners. When Laura had big moments, it was refreshing. The show gave her her finest moments on her way out. That had to be bittersweet as an actress.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | May 7, 2023 1:31 PM |
Laura was the epitome of the late 70's early 80's woman. A housewife and mother who transitioned into the workplace, whose husband was a Reagan 80's philanderer, who developed feelings for another woman, who became jaded and walled, but still accepted love. Her death was a tragedy, but the loss of the character was a bigger one.

Fuck Beth FUCKING Broderick!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | May 7, 2023 6:51 PM |
Beth, stop posting here. This is a CONNIE McCASHIN thread, you old whore!

Beth Broderick, the breakout star of Sabrina, The Teenage Witch! She was the white, female Urkel of Sabrina!
by Anonymous | reply 49 | May 7, 2023 8:22 PM |
Then make Beth Cunting Broderick her own Cunting thread!
by Anonymous | reply 50 | May 7, 2023 8:47 PM |
Is Beth Broderick related to Betty Broderick? Because that would send her DL value through the [italic]roof.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | May 8, 2023 4:32 PM |
Pivot at 41 second.
The pivot.
Laura is the best character.
Constance McCashin is the best.

Will Miss Locher ask her about her pre-Knots appearance on All My Children?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | May 10, 2023 1:42 AM |
Good interview with Connie (or Con, as she prefers to be called), despite the annoying audio glitches. It seems as she's still tight with Bill Devane, John Pleshette, and Michele Lee. She seems to keep in touch occasionally with Joan Van Ark and Lisa Hartman. No mention of her relationship with Donna Mills. She has a sense of humor about herself and of Knots.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | May 15, 2023 3:56 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 59 | May 16, 2023 5:57 AM |

What R60? How, via seance? Harris died ten years ago...
