Changed his tune on this story, I think a lot more murky details are likely to come out.

He's already gone down.
At this point, I want to see who he takes down with him! Everyone at his corrupt law firm, maybe?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | May 3, 2023 9:33 PM |
Why would he admit that? Isn't her body being exhumed - got to wonder if he knows they will find something.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | May 3, 2023 9:33 PM |
Does he say how she died? Not that he is credible, but if it didn't happen as he originally claimed does that mean she still fell on the stairs?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | May 3, 2023 9:44 PM |
"Fell."
Uh huh.
Tee hee

I think he's admitting to conning the insurance company. Maybe it wasn't obvious what caused her to fall, and they settled on a story that would bring the largest payout.

He collected a large insurance policy following her death. Is this not suspicious
by Anonymous | reply 7 | May 3, 2023 10:20 PM |
What will happen regarding the insurance money that her sons received if the insurance company wasn't responsible for paying the claim

1.5 million? How are you permitted to insure someone who is unrelated to your family and collect that sum if they die.

Is Pa transitioning from he to they?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 16, 2023 12:37 AM |
R16 I think the insurance settlement was more like ~$4 million if I recall correctly. It was payable to Gloria’s sons, but ol’ Pa had the check payable to “Forge” (without any sense of irony) where he laundered it through a sham LLC he set up and named after a legit structured settlement firm called Forge Consulting. This apparently was his m.o. for numerous cases where he diverted settlement funds intended for his clients. Pure scum, this asshole, and that’s not even considering the actual murders.

Great quote from that story just above: "An August 2015 tip accused Buster and Smith of having a forbidden relationship that would have been damning for the prominent family's reputation."
Forbidden...

When are LLCs gonna be banned from existence. Being openly gay is damning but committing fraud and multiple homicides is NBD?

R20: Any time, and in any kind of situation, where someone is entrusted with someone else's money, there are going to be thefts happening. Murdaugh got away with what he was doing because he had some kind of psychopathic ability to deceive, divert, and cow his clients and the people in his office. The bookkeeper said that NONE of the people Paw swindled EVER called to inquire, "Hey, where is our settlement money?" Paw had those people cowed. The housekeeper's sons, in the present case, did not raise a stink about their missing money. Why not? Murdaugh's employees at his firm certainly had no ability to call into question his doings, because they would have just lost their jobs...An electric moment in the bookkeeper's testimony came when she described photocopying a sheaf of cashed checks on that crucial Monday of the murders, and realizing in a glance that something was "funny" about the endorsements on them. That moment is what sealed Murdaugh's fate as a fraudster, and she indicated enough about it to Murdaugh that afternoon to tip him off that discovery of his crimes was inevitable, and thereby, in an insane way, condemned Maggie and Sonny Boy to death later on that very evening. Alex was insane enough to believe that if he killed his wife and son it would divert attention from his theft of millions of dollars in multiple criminal acts. Alex had just worked out a scheme that worked for way longer than it should have. Good Old Boy network, and those banks and other lawyers were in on it. Everybody wins, except the clients you are supposed to be helping. Trust other people with your money, and you're going to get screwed. It's got nothing much to do with "LLC's." It's an inherent risk in letting attorneys handle their clients' money. I know, because I am one.

The Murderers had a long standing multi generational reputation in their hometown, if people didn't trust them personally their reputation counted for a great deal. I am amazed at their body count. At least four kills. Gang-bangers have fewer kills.
