When my partner lived in the UK he was routinely cussed out and/or mocked by young children-- not disaffected adolescents, but little kids. I guess parents no longer inflict ass-whippings over there because I would not have been able to sit down for a week if my mother ever caught me doing such a thing.

I was talking to a retired high school teacher at a party last night. He noted that after 2000 or so, kids got really arrogant and would threaten to report him if he didn't let them do exactly as they wanted. The school was in an area where a lot of kids came from upper middle class homes.
