It was a political earthquake and they're bringing the general election forward from the end of the year to July because of it. He probably only won because he ran under the populist right-wing umbrella. So you can expect his policies to be equally deplorable.

By the way, that town only has a population of 483. He won by 51.4% of the votes, 202 to 190. So his salary should be pretty meagre.
