What are your favorites? This song by The Lemonheads ‘Into Your Arms’ was number one for 9 weeks at the end of ‘92 into ‘93.
I LOVED that song. It was so fucking catchy.
Gosh, I don't remember it being that big of a hit. But I was in junior high so what did I know?
I loved Nirvana so just pick any song by them.

Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space by Spiritualized is a good one

I'm sure someone else will post "Everybody Hurts" and "Nightswimming," so here's "Monty Got a Raw Deal." Did anyone besides R.E.M. and the Clash record a pop song about Montgomery Clift?

Thread closed. No song by the Counting Crows can be even remotely deemed decent.

Almost anything by Stone Temple Pilots, Virvana, et Al.
This one from STP wasn't a hit but makes me so sad Scott didn't make it.

I was listening to 30s & 40s Big Band & 50s Hot Jazz during this period. I can only mostly name the radio hits that would've been played out.
But a now-dead friend introduced me to "Clumsy" by Our Lady Peace, and I really liked it. I've owned the album since. Now, I think of him when I hear it.
There is a video for this, but it's awful. Avoid it, and make something up in your mind. It will no doubt be better.

Op there is an abundant, musically rich alt / indie scene in 2023 if you’d dare to get out of the past.

Why don't you start your own thread, r17. You could call it "2023's abundant, musically rich alt/indie scene" if you like.

R4, yes! I just recently stumbled on to this song. I was surprised it was by STP; not their usual "sound." Great song.

R17 Considering what moronic threads you start, you hardly have room to criticize others.

I loved the moody Black Metallic by Catherine Wheel, and their following single Crank.
