R10, IIRC, SATC's seasons always started in June back during the run of the original series, so they're probably just continuing that tradition.

R21 SJP had two moderate hits after SATC, The Family Stone & Failure to Launch. Her other movies flopped apart from the SATC movies. A drama she did around 2018 made about $14k

That kind of failure probably scared her into constantly trying to get a third movie made, but unfortunately as we know it couldn't go ahead without Kim.

I'm sure all of them would have preferred to do movies instead of the series as they likely get paid a lot more for a lot less work.

Cynthia was moderately successful in small TV appearances and a handful of plays, winning a couple of Emmys & 2 Tony's. Plus her ill-fated bid for public Office of course...

Kristin starred in The Shaggy Dog and Couple's Retreat.

In short, they went back to what made them big stars and gives the best pay checks for their old age.

For any actor, the money will be much, much better if you’re playing a role you’re known for. It’s the rare instance when an actor has si at Anita’s negotiating power. Otherwise, you’re lucky to get your quote.

So the movies and follow-up series are huge paychecks for them.

Even if SJP had enjoyed a decently successful movie career, she wouldn’t be pulling down this kind of money.

If Miranda really needed to explore being a lesbian then do it with the Professor (as originally intended?) as that seems much more in keeping with the character - a fellow intellectual who stimulates Miranda's mind not just her juices

I really don’t think the new show has a strong rationale to exist.

SJP can gives all the sound bytes she wants about how fascinating it is to explore these women in a different stage of life, but the joy of the original show was rooted in their exploration of their sexuality and identities in a city rife with possibility for young women.

Pushing 60, they look silly in their over-the-top fashion and stupid in their naïveté (they’ve never interacted with black people?). They’re mostly sad creatures now.
