Yesterday on 'The View', actor James Brolin (who has really aged in the past few years, looking much older than his nearly 83 years), gave the audience some insode scoop on his wife Barbra Streisand's new memoir, and how she spent her 81st birthday the other day.
According to 'the amazing James Brolin' (as Whoopi introduced him, as she's easily amazed), his wife's memoir is nearly 1100 pages long, and it only covers up to 1995-96, when the two of them first met and began their relationship (they married in 1998). A part two - which continues with the last 25+ years, may follow. According to someone who read an advanced copy, they described the book as 'an incredible history of film and film-making'. So we get a hint of where her focus is in the book ("Funny Girl", "A Star is Born", "Yentl", "Prince of Tides", "Mirror Has Two Faces"). For the record, Joy looked at the camera and asked Barbra to come on the show when the book is released - the show sells books for writers! (Barbara Walters had said numerous times they would love to have Streisand on as a guest, but she never accepts their open invitation).
As for her 81st birthday this past Monday - the amazing James Brolin said his wife did a small celebration on Sunday night with her girlfriends, whom she has over on Sunday nights for their 'Sunday dinner'. On Monday, James and Barbra sat on the sofa with their feet up on the coffee table all day long, watching the news (Tucker and Carlson dominated the news that day) and did absolutely nothing but watch TV and cuddle. He said (once again, like he says all the time) he and Barbra are newshounds - she more than him - and they keep the television on all day listening to the news on a cable news station.
For the umpteenth time visiting the show, one of the hosts (I think it was Joy this time) asked him how he and Barbra met - we had to hear the whole 'blind date set up' at a mutual friend's house for dinner one summer night, again. And he walked in with a last-minute haircut, and when Barbra sat next to him at dinner, she asked "Who fucked up your hair ?" He knew it was love from that moment on. (He has told this story on every show repeatedly over the years).
In the past, when he was a guest on the show over the past 25 years, he has said Barbra watches 'The View' every single morning, and then switches between MSNBC and CNN to catch the news all day long. He had said once before she watches MSNBC all night - she loved watching Maddow.
