Years back, I remember him saying that his financial advisor or accountant ripped him off for a lot of money.

After reading this Rolling Stone article, I could see how Johnny Depp could have blown through most of his money.

Suing Amber Heard and paying his attorneys didn't help his financial situation. Even if she was ordered to pay his attorneys' fees, that might be like pulling teeth.

His sister is in his inner, financial circle. He also supports his mother and people back home.

He was never broke-broke, but he did blow unbelievable amounts of money, so much so that his financial advisers were begging him to sell some of his 14 homes and private islands. I mean, if you're officially in debt but still own those kinds of assets, you're not BROKE, but you are in financial tlrouble.

There was a long period where he wasn't working, and I swear he was trying to get some liquid assets by suing everyone, including the financial advisers who told him he'd spent all the cash and needed to sell assets. Maybe they ripped him off, maybe he just refused to believe the truth and told himself that if he was short of money it had to be someone else's fault.

I believe it without knowing the details. It's happened too often with movie and TV stars. They make unbelievable amounts then end up broke and owing millions in taxes.

Honestly practically no one in Hollywood has had more success in terms of $$$, amd A-list longevity than Johnny Depp. His first fucking film was A Nightmare on Elm Street, one of the best horror films ever made. Nearly every young aspiring actor does a slasher film but how many are in the to 10 ever made? 21 Jump Street? Another iconic show in TV arena. Then right away moves to Platoon, Johnny Scissorhands? I mean, horseshoes in his saggy ass. More hits than misses over over a 40 yr career. It's actually amazing what he has achieved, seemingly without giving a shit. If you believe that one.

You notice the most of his films outside that franchise flopped. I think Willy wonka might be one of the exceptions. You are either a fan gurl or blatantly lying or both.

His movies outside of Pirates franchise have done huge box office, whether critically acclaimed or not. Look it up. I agree about Cruise, but Roberts' career is at least 10 yrs shorter than either Cruise's or Depp's.

It's a marvel he's nearly made it to 60. Despite all the success and fortune he has always embraced the darkness.

I've posted this comment before, and it wasn't exactly the most popular thing to say, but given what I have been told by a friend who does financial advisement to several dozen professional sports people (and a relative who gives advice to high-visibility people), most celebrity's wealth is significantly overstated in the media to create 'buzz', and a considerable number of them lose most of what they have made over their professional lifetimes. This goes for music, tv, and film personalities just as much as sports stars.

She is the most successful female actress of all time and one of the most profitable stars in the history of Hollywood. Own your envy.
