Liberty Ross is finally talking about the affair that ended both her marriage and the Twilight fairytale that was Robsten.
It was a single photo that ended one of the most closely followed relationships of recent times: When Kristen Stewart was busted on camera kissing Snow White & the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, her relationship with Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson imploded just as quickly as Sanders’ own marriage.
Now Sanders’ former wife Liberty Ross — the woman scorned — is talking about that “horrible” time in her life, and as they say, living well is the best revenge.
“It was horrible. It was really the worst,” Ross told Vanity Fair. “I have no words to describe what we went through. But I think, for me, something always has to completely die for there to be a rebirth. And I feel like I’m going through a rebirth.
To deal with the pain as privately as possible, Ross holed up in a secret California location unknown to paparazzi who were trying to stalk her every move.
“I was able to be there completely secluded. I tried to keep as far away from it as I could and to understand that this is my family and it’s the most precious thing to me,” she shared.
But despite having space and time to think and a very public apology from Sanders, she said she just could not find it in her to forgive her cheating husband. “I’m not a quitter. I’ve done everything I could to be the perfect wife and mother and really support my husband,” she said. “But I just didn’t have any more to give, you know?”
“I knew that I wasn’t feeling 100 percent right. I found myself on a roller coaster, like, I’m going to keep things moving, keep things going. I’m going to keep up this amazing [façade], everyone looking at me and Rupert, thinking, Oh, wow, you guys have it all… Really, I had times when I felt very lonely, very disconnected from Rupert. We’d lost our real connection.”
“We were together for 16 years, and that in itself is really beautiful. And we’ve created two exceptional lives together.”
Ross filed for divorce in January 2013 and has since been romantically linked to music industry titan Jimmy Iovine.
