People say he gets roles because he has charisma. Where? He’s not particularly funny or interesting, he’s not a notorious actor, and we all know he’s a homely clay-faced mook. In fact his last movie, 65, flopped liked a pancake. His ability to get big roles is just a strange and sad mystery.
The bloom is definitely off his rosebud, everyone and their grandma is talking about Mescal these days. I'm not the biggest fan of either, personally.

Probably great as Victor Von Doom, but definitely not Reed Richards, in the FF reboot.
He won me over in This Is Where I Leave You.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 20, 2023 10:45 AM |
Agree, OP. Ugly as hell and the charisma of a dog turd. Also, more moles than DeCaprio had dated models.

He looks like someone hit him square in the face with a cast-iron frying pan. Repeatedly.

He's a good actor, but he's not a movie star. He's still very talented & has a great career ahead of him, but he'd probably do better in smaller Woody Allen (in his heyday) type movies. That's still better than most actors, but Tom Cruise/Brad Pitt 2.0 he ain't.
I suspect the same will be true of Mescal

He's ugly hot.

I don't get what was so great about him in Blackkklansman and Marriage Story.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 20, 2023 11:39 AM |
Great chest. Ugly sexy.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 20, 2023 11:40 AM |
They want him to join the MCU?
Was the kitchen sink unavailable?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 20, 2023 11:50 AM |
One of the few actors I think is good enough to see a movie just because he is in it.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 20, 2023 11:54 AM |
He reminds me of these kind of cats. Every time I see one I think "oh! An Adam Driver kitty!"
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 20, 2023 11:57 AM |
I hate this casting if true (source is dubious) because Reed Richards is always depicted as this guy with big empathetic eyes and Driver is cartoonishly antagonistic-looking
The correct casting for this role is Richard Madden who unfortunately would never be chosen because he already did Eternals
He even has a friggen Mallen streak

He's an ex marine. I think that being able to do physical scenes is a big selling point with producers these days. Also he has a lot of range, he can play a number of characters in a number genres. As long as no #metoo or anything comes along he should have a long and interesting career. It would have been nice if he had shown his dick along the way. Why couldn't Lens manage to arrange this back in the Girls era. I mean she managed to show everything else. I'm obsessed with seeing his dick.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 20, 2023 12:02 PM |
I could see him having a career like Michael Shannon.

I like Adam Driver well enough, but he is absolutely wrong for Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four. Completely wrong. Not even remotely a good fit. I hope this is just a rumor and that it's not true.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 20, 2023 1:19 PM |
Ugly? That's a matter of opinion, though his face is certainly odd and very asymmetrical.
But it's indisputably BDF of the "ugly hot" variety that is really uncommon nowadays.
He has a great body. I just hope one day we get sizemeat verificatia.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 20, 2023 1:33 PM |
I think he has something and it helps that he's not traditionally pretty. It gives him a wide range of options.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 20, 2023 1:35 PM |
It's apparently done.
He's been cast in Fantastic Four as Reed Richards.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 21, 2023 11:47 PM |
Charisma, rockin' bod, BDE, and he can act.
What's not to like?

Omg, 🤣🤣^^

Ugly to the point of being offensive…

They're going to use Doctor Doom as the villain [italic]yet again???[/italic]
I am so baffled why, when the FF probably have the most colorful villains in the Marvel universe, they have to go back to Doctor Doom, when he was the villain in the first two films which were both so awful. he just doesn't work as a film character because he only looks right if he's wearing a medieval mask, like in the comics, and it's so unattractive.
Why not use: Diablo, The Mole Man, the Puppet Master, the Molecule Man, Terrax, Blastaar, the Supreme Intelligence...
It's like Superman movies. They always feel they can only use Luthor (or General Zod) as the villain, and no one wants to see yet another smirky performance by whoever is the biggest asshole portrayer in films at the time (Kevin Spacey, Jesse Eisenberg...)
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 22, 2023 1:31 AM |
He will be the next person to play Mary Jane Watson in the Spider-Man movies.
"Face it, tiger! You hit the jackpot!"
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 22, 2023 1:32 AM |
Never liked the guy. Still don't. His ability to be cast in major movies is a mystery, given that he has a face for radio.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 22, 2023 3:43 AM |
He a very good actor- character probably- sexy in an odd way and successful beyond the wildest dreams of the OP. Tough , eh OP?

Awww! That's kind! I would have said "telegraph"
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 22, 2023 3:59 AM |
I've heard many times he has an incredible quality on stage that just doesn't translate somehow into movies. There are other actors like that, like John Malkovich and Carrie Coons, or even going back to Tallulah Bankhead.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 22, 2023 4:19 AM |
I saw him in Burn This and he was magnificent on stage and very, very sexy in person. Tall and built. I think he's been mostly miscast or wasted in every one of his projects besides Lena Dunham's Girls (of ALL the things).
Tallulah was pretty great in Lifeboat. She's harder to cast in films but translates when cast properly. Likewise I've found John Malkovich good in many roles.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 22, 2023 6:28 AM |
Yeah. I stopped watching these. You miss one and it's hard to keep up...and I don't have time to screen all those series. Last saw Dr, Strange but missed the meanings because I never watched WandaVision.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 22, 2023 8:07 AM |
I just wanna know which casting director thought that a baby born to Princess Leia and Han Solo would end up looking like Adam Driver. If I were Han, we'd all be on Maury with him opening the envelope that says "you are NOT the father!"
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 22, 2023 4:47 PM |
I've liked Driver in most of the stuff he's done - well most of the stuff I've seen, which is maybe four or five things.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 22, 2023 5:00 PM |
It would have been nearly impossible to know what was going on in the 2nd Dr. Strange film without having seen WandaVision (or without having read some "West Coast Avengers" and "House of M" comics storylines from the 90s). i think that's been a real mistake for the MCU. It was hard enough enjoying DSATMOM anyway since it was so dark and disturbing.
I really wish comics movies would give up on alternate universes and alternate timelines. They're tedious and repetitive.

Oh, I was hoping the headline was 'Adam Driver In ICU'. This dreary fug Lens inflicted upon us is a cancer.

I like him, OP. So most of your snark is OPINION.
