Rachel McAdams turned down some major roles, consecutively within a two-year period

Do you think she regrets turning down any of them? Especially Iron Man. She did end up in the Marvel world anyway.

I love RM but thank God she didn't take Casino Royale. Eva Green is unforgettable in that.

by Anonymousreply 2April 19, 2023 3:05 AM

I don't understand this. I have a friend who was an agent. There are only so many roles to go around.

In order to keep actors happy with their agents and management, they are offered roles that they know they can't or won't take for whatever reasons.

Just because you're sent a script and offered to do a casting with the director, it doesn't mean it's real interest or a real offers. These all happened when she moved back to Canada for 2 years.

I can guarantee you these weren't FIRM offers. Almost every starring role in every film was FOUGHT for - even by the huge, big name actors of both genders.

Nobody is handed anything in Hollywood. Or that's what my agent friend said.

by Anonymousreply 3April 19, 2023 3:06 AM

I can’t see her in Devil.

by Anonymousreply 4April 19, 2023 3:10 AM

RM has made bad career choices

by Anonymousreply 5April 19, 2023 3:11 AM

She looks cold and angry in pic

by Anonymousreply 6April 19, 2023 3:11 AM

I heard she's a lez. I also heard Jada ate her muff and was obsessed with her for a while. Anyone else can confirm?

by Anonymousreply 7April 19, 2023 3:13 AM

R3 false. A bunch of false in everything you just said.

by Anonymousreply 8April 19, 2023 3:22 AM

R5 no. She hasn’t.

by Anonymousreply 9April 19, 2023 3:23 AM

I wish she had taken Iron Man. She’s so much prettier than Goop and would have been much better in that role.

by Anonymousreply 10April 19, 2023 3:26 AM

^^^ True dat.

by Anonymousreply 11April 19, 2023 3:28 AM

R8 - what's false? You don't know what you're talking about.

People are not handed roles - they're offered scripts and to read for them. Every once in a while, a director has a specific actor or actress in mind - but there's no way she was handed all of these roles sight unseen.

Tell me how you know it's false?

by Anonymousreply 12April 19, 2023 3:30 AM

R8 is correct

by Anonymousreply 13April 19, 2023 3:32 AM

R13 yup. That person trolls too much.

by Anonymousreply 14April 19, 2023 3:47 AM

I heard she trying to move away from the Hollywood spotlight, but then waited too late to finally sell out with that Sherlock movie.

by Anonymousreply 15May 10, 2023 5:48 PM

I get her mixed up with the actress from Coyote Ugly

by Anonymousreply 16May 10, 2023 5:52 PM

She will be forever remembered for Mean Girls and The Notebook. I don’t think any of the other roles would have been as iconic. Goop’s role in Iron Man was really nothing.

She starred with RDJ in Sherlock and their chemistry wasn’t that amazing anyway.

by Anonymousreply 17May 10, 2023 5:54 PM

She’s a very boring actress to me. Have never gotten the hype.

by Anonymousreply 18May 10, 2023 5:55 PM

Shes a terrible actress. I recall in Wedding Crashers everyone had a funny role with some charisma or charm, except her with her monotone flat facial expressions. Im glad she wasnt in Casino Royale, that was a perfect movie.

by Anonymousreply 19May 10, 2023 6:07 PM

I liked her in Midnight in Paris.

by Anonymousreply 20May 10, 2023 6:20 PM

I think she is adorable and great in rom-coms

by Anonymousreply 21May 10, 2023 6:34 PM

Now it makes sense. This woman was on track to be the next Julia Roberts.

by Anonymousreply 22May 10, 2023 6:47 PM

I'm glad she turned down The Devil Wears Prada. AnnE was perfect in that role.

by Anonymousreply 23May 10, 2023 7:04 PM

Anyone remember that thriller she did with Cilian Murphy. It came out shortly after Wedding Crashers and was a hit. Within like a 2 yr period she had done Mean Girls, Wedding Crashers, and I think the film was Red Eye. She’s a fool for turning down all these big blockbusters. Instead we got Jennifer Lawrence forced down our throats.

by Anonymousreply 24May 10, 2023 7:13 PM

[QUOTE] Instead we got Jennifer Lawrence forced down our throats.

Not anymore!

by Anonymousreply 25May 10, 2023 7:19 PM

Isn't she the antivaxx Canadian?

by Anonymousreply 26May 10, 2023 7:22 PM

She was so gorgeous in WC

by Anonymousreply 27May 10, 2023 7:38 PM

She's great in The Family Stone. She should do more comedic, witty/acerbic roles. Come back, Rachel McA!

by Anonymousreply 28May 10, 2023 7:57 PM

She's a charisma-free zone.

by Anonymousreply 29May 10, 2023 7:59 PM

Agreed, R28. She’s wonderful in The Family Stone. I really just love that movie.

by Anonymousreply 30May 10, 2023 8:03 PM

That lezzie movie she stars in with Racehel Weisz has a very uncomfortable to watch sex scene

by Anonymousreply 31May 10, 2023 8:21 PM

I’d have preferred her in DWP

by Anonymousreply 32May 10, 2023 8:42 PM

She was perfect in Mean Girls.

by Anonymousreply 33May 10, 2023 9:04 PM

She’s another leading lady who most women really like.

by Anonymousreply 34May 10, 2023 9:12 PM

She has the appeal of wet food at the bottom of the sink.

by Anonymousreply 35May 11, 2023 1:57 AM

[quote]Anyone remember that thriller she did with Cilian Murphy.

God, YES. It's called Red Eye, and Cillian is so handsome and charming in it.

by Anonymousreply 36May 11, 2023 2:23 AM

I like her. It was kind of hard to see her cast as the mother in Are You There God? It's Me Margaret

by Anonymousreply 37May 11, 2023 2:35 AM

She is in the first season of the Canadian show Slings and Arrows.

by Anonymousreply 38May 11, 2023 2:43 AM

My college roommate's friend went to high-school with Rachel Macadams and said she was a royal bitch

by Anonymousreply 39May 11, 2023 2:56 AM

I hated her so much in The Family Stone I wouldn’t watch her films. I detest that movie. Then I saw her in the goofy Eurovision movie and she was adorable in it. She’s fantastic in “Are You There God, It’s Me, Margaret” which is my favorite film so far this year.

by Anonymousreply 40May 11, 2023 3:12 AM

Yes, she was really great in Margaret—though it did make me feel old seeing her in a mom role.

by Anonymousreply 41May 11, 2023 3:38 AM

Was that article written by glitchy AI?

by Anonymousreply 42May 11, 2023 3:41 AM

Miranda Priestly would have made her get rid of the mole.

by Anonymousreply 43May 11, 2023 1:35 PM

Her wide eyed ingenue thing was never that appealing to me. She was good in The Notebook but never seemed to have much appeal on a broad scale.

by Anonymousreply 44May 11, 2023 1:54 PM

The only thing I remember about Red Eye is the hilarious "drink" moment which made me wish to never order any vodka based fruit drink for the rest of my life.

by Anonymousreply 45May 11, 2023 1:55 PM

A bay breeze if I recall correctly?

by Anonymousreply 46May 11, 2023 10:45 PM

She has a lot of neck moles.

by Anonymousreply 47May 11, 2023 10:58 PM

A bay breeze indeed.

by Anonymousreply 48May 11, 2023 11:25 PM

it was so she could bicycle around toronto and be a brunette lesbian Deborah-that being said she realized it would be easier to make those millions and marry a dude

congrats Rach!
