ahead of it's time?
no, it was a product of it's time..
which is why it was so lame.
It's like people that prefer to wong foo vs priscillla because they don't know of anything better.

The director's idea was to make a gay Clueless
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 17, 2023 4:16 AM |
Natasha and Clea Duvall showed up so many times hung over, the director had to talk to them about it
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 17, 2023 4:18 AM |
Michelle Williams is in this? WHY?!?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 17, 2023 4:25 AM |
All style, no substance. A poor man's version of Drop Dead Gorgeous.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 17, 2023 5:15 AM |
I loved Dante Bisco in this.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 17, 2023 5:26 AM |
no she isn't, r4. Melanie Lynskey is, though.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 17, 2023 5:31 AM |
Oops, I forgot she was in the beginning, because I hate her.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 17, 2023 5:32 AM |
WHET Douglas Spain?
He was so cute.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 17, 2023 5:42 AM |
The film is just so endlessly negative, fucking hated it so much when it came out.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 17, 2023 5:58 AM |
I thought it was funny as hell. Not every gay film has to be a politically correct documentary on gay life.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 17, 2023 6:06 AM |
R14 I just found the endless talk of how evil it is too gay, how evil they are endless. That was way out of proprtion for a supposedly happy clappy gay film.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 17, 2023 6:09 AM |
Yes, but R15, they were mocking them throughout the entire film.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 17, 2023 6:13 AM |
R16 Meh, agree to disagree and continue hating a fucking second rate negative film.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 17, 2023 6:27 AM |
It wasn't a negative film.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 17, 2023 6:36 AM |
R9 I agree & thanks 4 the visuals.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 17, 2023 7:41 AM |
I'll take it over Happiest Season.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 17, 2023 2:57 PM |
It is almost always streaming on one service or another.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 17, 2023 3:21 PM |
Michelle Williams was in scenes throughout the movie. Not just the beginning R8
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 18, 2023 12:40 AM |
R13 R17 I'm sure you hate a lot of things
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 18, 2023 12:42 AM |
R7 How humiliating for you
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 18, 2023 12:43 AM |
R23 Nope, only shit films.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 18, 2023 12:47 AM |
Love this movie.
This movie came out when I was in high-school. I rented the vid at BlockBuster and used to sneak around to watch when my mom wasn't home. It was before I came out or understood my sexuality. I watched this movie so many times and ended up returning it late. One day after school my mom left a note " Return But I'm a cheerleader , Blockbuster called"
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 18, 2023 12:48 AM |
I prefer Saved! with Mandy Moore and Jena Malone
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 18, 2023 12:49 AM |
R25 yeah right
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 18, 2023 12:49 AM |
I love Natasha Lyonne and love the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 18, 2023 12:53 AM |
I once worked at a Blockbuster, and had to chuckle when a furious Karen returned this film and demanded a refund. Her reason? "I thought it would be about cheerleading. But it had lesbian stuff!"

Intentional camp always has limits.

Election is good. Dick is good. DGG is good.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 18, 2023 1:03 AM |
"First Period" was funnier.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 18, 2023 1:15 AM |
I got a kick out of Kathy Moriarty in this! She played to the rafters and seemed to love every minute of it.
My wife likes this film because she's from Middle Tennessee originally. I need not say anything more, right? Marsha Blackburn deemed this a documentary at one point.
It's shot cheesy. Just the whole film looks cheesy but on purpose. All the pastels and such.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 18, 2023 1:38 AM |
Rupaul said someone comes up to him at least once a month and mentions But I'm a Cheerleader
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 20, 2023 5:41 AM |
Joel Michaely thinks people in public are talking about him. How embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 20, 2023 5:46 AM |
Clockwatchers also has its own offbeat style that it maintains throughout the whole movie
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 20, 2023 5:49 AM |
Putting a bunch of horny gay teens together in a camp to keep them from fucking each other doesn't seem to be the best method.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 20, 2023 5:50 AM |
Some good behind the scenes info with this podcast interview with the director
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 20, 2023 5:53 AM |
Rufio! Ruffio! Ruffi Ooooooo!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 20, 2023 6:00 AM |
It's hilarious. Great cast. Quotable lines. One of the few laugh out loud gay comedies of the time.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 20, 2023 6:41 AM |
MUNA's video for Silk Chiffon is a tribute to the movie.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 20, 2023 6:49 AM |
great movie and cibrians ass in his prime
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 20, 2023 6:50 AM |
It's great.
I can't believe there are posters on this thread who seem to not realize that it was a parody. Negative movie? Really? Idiots.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 20, 2023 6:55 AM |
It's off to a great start with Natasha peeing on the floor.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 20, 2023 6:59 AM |
Like The Exorcist?
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 20, 2023 7:01 AM |
What movie did you watch, R48?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 20, 2023 8:41 AM |
Sounds like Scary Movie 2
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 20, 2023 8:57 AM |
I wanted to like this movie. So far, I've started watching it twice, but each time just lost interest. It's still on my DVR, about half-way through. 🌈
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 20, 2023 9:00 AM |
Never saw it, never wanted to. Just the title was enough to put me off.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 20, 2023 9:04 AM |
This movie had an amazing cast and a very John Waters-esque vibe. Love it.

I really liked it when I was in my twenties but it hasn’t aged well. It’s just not funny anymore
