A friend of mine went out over the weekend with someone that works for the PR firm representing Anheuser-Busch. My friend filled me in on the details. It's an absolute total shitshow over at AB right now. As of the weekend, AB's strategy was to issue a statement mid week that was in essence a "non apology" but more of a "we understand" type of thing. Part two of their plan was to release a pivot type of ad/campaign in three weeks in hope to divert away from this in hopes that in time, it would die down. They used a "Colin Kappernic" type of analogy in one of their pitch meeting (not sure of their thinking behind that one). ???
It looks like they may have to step up their game from the looks of things because it certainly is a shit show over at Anheuser-Busch right now.

R30, I have a hard time imagining any alcohol marketing as "the right thing." I drink myself, but carefully, because I know so many people, especially gay men, whose lives were destroyed by the stuff.
Ask yourself who cares about these influencers. It's mostly teenagers and very young adults. Many, if not most of them, are underage.
Like the cartoon camel designed to get kids hooked on cigarettes, the use of "influencers" is a cynical ploy to get young gay and transgender people hooked on a drug that's likely to end up destroying some of them.

Except for Coors Miller it looks like most alcohol oriented brands lost value. AB the most, I would expect that more due to the forecast of hard times. by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 12, 2023 10:31 PM |
I had never heard of this Dylan person either and it seems like this was just a casual, inclusive "why not" thing which went somewhat off of the rails because one demographic is desperate to talk about anything other than how bad their party sux.
From what I have seen, R30 is more correct than those who think this is a terrible campaign. The voices I trust are basically saying that "traditional beer sales" and their loyal customer base is shrinking as more people move on to hard seltzers, ciders and craft beers. There just isn't much market share to gain and those who have been with them for years/generations are literally dying.
Moreover, there's nowhere for the customer base to go. Coors has long been an LGBTQ ally. Lablatt? Corona?
I suspect that the reason that the only media sources on the supposed loss of income are the usual suspects--Fux, Daily Mail, NYPost--because they are trying to craft a story out of whole cloth, R14's friend's friend aside. While it is always safe to fly under the radar, heading into warmer weather and picnic season having your name on people's lips may not be as bad as it seems.

The comments on that tweet ^ are a dumpster fire.
And if you Google her name, surprise! again it is the same rogues' gallery of The Daily Caller, Newsweek, The Washington Times, etc. attacking her without any of them addressing the content of her comments. The brand has been losing money because of its reputation. She was tasked with creating a permission slip for others outside of traditional demographic to enjoy the product.
The point is not to pull customers away from Miller Light but rather White Claw or Angry Orchard. Again, beer sales are down across the board and, giving a cursory look, there doesn't seem to be any evidence that InBev has lost any distribution contracts. Subsequently, do what are the chances that Bubby and Jr are going to NOT have a beer at the stadium because Bud has an exclusive contract?

She did not insult anybody except people who are looking for a reason to feel insulted.
Her comments are about the perceptions of the brand. If your identity is subsumed by someone else's idea of a product you happen to enjoy, then you need to see counseling
Moreover, she specifically calls for inclusion, not subversion. Again, if you can't enjoy a product because someone else enjoys it as well, then you're just fucked up.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 13, 2023 12:01 AM |
Adding to R54, most mass-market brands do niche marketing. It's standard practice. Coke markets to black singles, white couples, gay people, young people, etc. What they would not do, when trying to gain market share in a new market segment, is insult the existing market segments.
Aiming at a tiny niche is smart for a young, new brand that's trying to get noticed. Nasty Pig underwear is not trying to appeal to the fraus reading the supermarket magazines. I'm sure they'd be proud to say they are a leading cause of pearl-clutching among fraus.
But Bud Light is an old, rather staid mass market brand. Ultra-niche marketing is an awkward fit.

[quote] I'm just a little curious and perplexed because it flies in the face of accepted marketing truisms.
I stand by what I said before. The spirits industry has evolved to the point where young people coming of age have options beyond just what their dad & uncles drink as their entry into alcohol consumption.
Traditional marketing is' this beer vs. that beer'. This campaign is a reminder that beer (any beer) is still one of the options.
And why wouldn't niche marketing be a fit for a brand who's product category has very little presence? Just as product placement of something like Junior Mints on Seinfeld or any commercial with Martha Stewart and Snoop Dog together pulls in a more diverse customer base, having some relatively unknown influencer shill the product does NOTHING to the mass marketing except in the case of when people are looking to stoke their victim complex. I would wager there are other influencer campaigns out there that nobody is talking about because they're not a big ratings draw for the NYPost. An "insult" would have been to have put this Dylan character on billboards and a national campaign but they didn't do that--Dylan shared one clip on Dylan's social media. It's the right wing outrage machine that chose to make this bigger than that. To claim that Alyssa 'offed up because she allowed someone other than the "staid" demographic to consume the product just doesn't make sense. It's not as if she made Dylan the principle spokesperson. And ad hominem attacks against her appearance and video clips of her being "fratty" herself are distraction not counterargument.
Had this social media clip happened at any time when MTG and the Tennessee Taliban weren't backed into their caves licking their wounds nobody would have even noticed. So to say that she committed some kind of malpractice is absurd. I argue again that the fact that only the most partisan of media outlets --and trolls--are flogging the shit out of this indicates that this has yet to manifest as a full blown crisis. The GOP is about 23% of the general population and, what, maybe 30% (and dropping) of the core demographic for Bud Light. Most people won't care, some people will be encouraged and large numbers of people will still continue to do what they always do... drink it just because it's always there.

R74- Exactly. Her mistake wasn't bringing a trans influencer on board as part of a campaign that likely includes a dozen other young influencers. That, on its own, would arguably have been a smart move. Her mistakes were, 1) Explaining it the way she did after the fact, and 2) Not setting clearer parameters with Dylan Mulvaney as to how he should represent the brand in the first place. His constant, manic behavior makes him an easy target for anti-trans conservatives, and it's her job to be aware of that.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | April 13, 2023 2:08 AM |
I call bullshit on having diversified spokespeople for liquors or beers, reaching untapped markets. Lack of representation has never stopped someone from buying a bottle of OE, on up to Remy Martin VSOP (or my personal second favorite, 1738). ABSOLUT had zero representation unless you identify as a bottle and that was one of the most successful liquor advertising campaigns in general, becoming an integral part of 90s pop culture.
I honestly don't know anyone aside from a few people over 60 who like Budweiser, PBR, Yuengling, Corona, and Guiness are brands I often have random bottles left from friends who drink beer. (Never liked the stuff myself, never will, although I'll make an exception for a Raspberry Lambec, really tastes nothing like beer, is quite sweet, delicious, but not something you'd want more than a glass of.

R7 Falling stock prices can be temporary, but still have to do with market confidence in the brand. People selling off their shares to get out because they don't like where things are headed. Company decisions need to show strength, stability, and growth. Anything that shows a major shift in brand values or identity, lower sales, lower profits, higher spending, higher employee turnover, higher layoffs needed, or even stagnant quarterly results when growth was expected can all affect a company's stock market value and in the long run, its overall market share. If the stock price dips below a certain threshold then board members will really have some work to do.
Watch Succession and pay attention to finance news. Tech company layoffs, Musk's Twitter-Tesla drama, Zuckerberg's Meta headache, record profits at certain medical companies due to higher demand during Covid, media company mergers and acquisitions, drama with major banks failing - it's all out there.

“Get woke, go broke,” has become a rallying cry of the political right whenever they see a brand make the slightest effort to align itself with liberal or progressive values. It’s a meme that allows MAGA country to believe that there is ongoing, massive backlash to products that acknowledge and celebrate marginalized communities. But the supposed boycotts never seem to be reflected in the bottom line.
Besides, by the time we would expect to notice any effect, conservatives have already moved on to the next outrage. Kid Rock and Travis Tritt declared war this week against brewer Anheuser-Busch for a Bud Light partnership with trans actor Dylan Mulvaney, yet the focus has already shifted to the whiskey Jack Daniel’s because of its ad campaign featuring drag queens — which happens to be from 2021.
[quote] With all the companies these grievance peddlers are busy trying to destroy, it’s none too surprising that some have slipped through the cracks. Though the U.S. economy is facing headwinds and earnings may be down across the board for the first fiscal quarter of 2023, there’s ample evidence that major brands tend to easily weather anti-woke furor.
[...]
[quote] The threats from conservatives have had no measurable effect whatsoever. It’s almost like being “woke” — to the degree that the right can even define such a quality — won’t sink your business. But hey, I’m no accountant.

R98 Apples and oranges. If Jim Beam (for instance) had successfully featured Tony as the face of an ad campaign, you might have a leg to stand on in comparing it to Bud Light, but Smirnoff Vodka (and really, vodka in general) has always been a gay fan favorite. In fact, vodka could easily be considered the official liquor of the gay scene. Smirnoff has been an outspoken supporter of the gay scene for decades. Absolut was an avid supporter of gay and lesbian rights and culture as early as the 80's. SKYY has also been devoted to LGBTQ causes for ages.

The thing about Dylan is “they” have a huge following on TikTok. I believe it’s 10 million.
Dylan only has 20k subscribers on YouTube and about 1.1 million followers on Instagram.
The difference between TikTok and Instagram and YouTube is there’s a difference in the entertainment value.
A lot of TikTok stars are NOT “social media influencers”. TikTok has a lot of freak shows that Gen Z enjoy watching and making fun of.
Dylan falls under the latter.

Budweiser is betting that human equality is a better “brand” than bigotry. What are some of you afraid of? Why do you think you can tell others who they are? Why do you want to? Why do you think you know better?
It is profoundly depressing to see so much prejudice directed at a tiny minority on a gay chat board. You would hope that gay men and women would have the brains not to do to others what has been done to them.

A good buddy is director of sales for a local beer distributor that carries AB-Inbev products. The company is in the South, and most of the employees are hunters and Trump supportes.
Sales of AB-Inbev products have never been stronger. While some individual small gas stations are not carrying Bud Light this month, the sales of Bud Heavy (regular red/white/blue Bud) and other AB-I items are up. There has been no change in orders for the supermarkets which sell most of the off-premise product.

(if it really was about "equality" that is...).
Once again, this has nothing to do with Bud Light being progressive, not any other company. They picked something that's dividing the country right now (look at the laws passing, the debate over sports, etc) and are using it to push people a certain way politically. Why? Because companies are all about those sweet tax breaks and deregulation. You should be disgusted actually that companies are using trans people (if you do in fact feel that passionate) and manipulating the public.

No they (those on the fence or not fully on board with gender stuff) won't be all dead soon either R115. That's the biggest mistake you youngsters are going to make thinking that way. For one, there's plenty of boomers still not old enough to even retire (let alone die off in 10 yrs) with the youngest being about 58. You're greatly overestimating how positive people (esp 30s on up) feel about this. I'm in my 30s and we'll tell you now, I'm supportive of trans people having human rights (healthcare, job protection, etc) but not fully onboard with the whole conflating sex with gender identity (sports, prisons, etc). I think that's something that needs to be looked at carefully, esp when anyone can say their trans just like Dylan has -- didn't bother transitioning AT ALL. No feminine name change, surgeries (bs they did their face fem), no hormones, etc. I highly suspect Dylan is a plant to screw LGBTQ.

R139, here is one poll. But keep in mind this was before the Nashville child murders and the Dylan Mulvaney controversy:
Majority of Americans reject anti-trans bills, but support for this restriction is rising
A majority of Americans oppose restrictions on LGBTQ+ people, yet the latest PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll shows support for such laws is growing as many Republican state and local lawmakers pursue hundreds of bills targeting LGBTQ+ rights around the country.
Forty-three percent of Americans now say they support laws that criminalize the act of providing gender-transition-related medical care to minors, according to the latest poll, marking a 15-percentage point increase since April 2021.

One thing I've been seeing consistently on this thread (and on DL in general) is conflating gay recognition/rights with trans recognition/"rights."
They have very little to do with each other.
First, no one, not even the insanest bigot, denies that men can be gay. Even Fred Phelps, with his "God hates gays" picket signs, admitted that gay men exist. But many, many people deny that men can become women.
Second, gay people have only ever wanted the rights straights had -- the right to marry, the right to live without fearing retaliation just for who they are. Trans people want rights straights don't have -- for example, the right for people with working penises to be in women-only spaces, including homeless shelters and prisons.
Third, if you want to imagine how the majority of Americans probably feel about trans, just look at DL. I don't think there's a single person here, unless a day-tripping tourist from Lipstick Alley, who isn't a full supporter of all the rights gay people currently have. But so many here, including even liberals and progressives, are very concerned with the excesses of the trans push. Why is that? Do trans and their cheerleaders ever stop to wonder?
by Anonymous | reply 168 | April 13, 2023 4:54 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 173 | April 13, 2023 5:10 PM |
R171, no hate necessary. Nobody here is talking about hate or crusading against trans. It's disingenuous to say we are.
I see two main groups of trans people now.
First, young people and even young children who are uncomfortable in their skin for whatever reason, and are being pushed into a solution before they are legally mature enough to drive cars, vote, or even have sex. And they are being sterilized for life, and medicalized for life.
Second, autogynephiles who are primarily straight men that get off on imitating/mocking women and being in their spaces.
I know there are other trans people who are far less visible, but those are the types that dominate the current push.
The first, the children -- my heart weeps for them. How anyone could hate them, I don't know.
The second, the autogynephiles -- I don't hate them, I just think they need to be pushed back behind the boundaries that women have to protect them from men. Those boundaries were slim enough, and now they're dissolving.
Again, framing this as a "You choose hate! I choose love!" binary is disingenuous.

Oh, make no mistake, sweets, you choose to hate, you just won't admit it. You choose to hate women who are having their rights taken from them in favor of men dressing up in panties and bras. r78 it's called communism. we must now agree that biological men are women and vice versa or we get humiliated:
"Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to."

This could all be bullshit, of course. It could be that senior management/C-suite are delighted with the controversy and the coverage it brings. After all, there's no such thing as bad publicity.
If they double down with more Dylan/trans influencers, we'll know they consider it successful. If they publicly backtrack, explain, or attempt to disavow the campaign, we'll know they consider it a failure.

R40 is the only few people itt that makes a salient point. Boosting their post because, as usual, the thread devolved into a deranged anti-trans troll pissing match.
To try to get this thread to back to some sense of normalcy: "traditional" beer sales are down, and are in danger of losing further market share as younger drinkers prefer hard seltzer, ciders, and craft (usually locally brewed) beers. Don't forget Gen Z and how their drink of choice is literally Kool-Aid & various liquors in a gallon jug. It was a marketing decision to advertise an staid product to a new generation. That in and of itself I find more problematic, as Mulvaney has many under-aged followers, and as also mentioned in a rare non-troll post up-thread, I don't find alcohol advertising intoxicating when I know how many lives the product has ruined, myself included at one time. Absolut marketing to gays killed many of us-- these people don't advertise to us because they like us, they just want us to buy their literally toxic product. That AB InBev are trying to get kids to drink Bud Lite is the real controversy; all this trans-scandal is just noise perpetuated by the right-wing to further erode all civil rights in this country.

[quote]How in the world did AB think this Dylan person would appeal to that crowd?
They didn't think it would appeal to that crowd. They were seeking a new, younger crowd. Bud light is a dinosaur in the beer world. Only alcoholics and old rednecks drink it. And as someone mentioned above, younger folks go for the craft beers. So they wanted to introduce Bud light to a younger audience.
They lost a few deplorables as customers. It's way too early to say if they've picked up younger drinkers or what the net impact on their sales will be. Considering it was a one off promotion, I doubt it will have much affect on sales at all. But they're continuing to partner with other young influencers, so in the long run, it may pay off for them.

Born in San Diego, California, in 1996, Mulvaney comes from a privileged background.
Her grandfather James Mulvaney Snr was a prominent investment banker, lawyer and former President of the San Diego Padres baseball team.
He also worked for the crooked financier and industrialist C. Arnholt Smith who was a close friend, and one of the earliest backers, of the disgraced president Richard Nixon in the Sixties. Another acquaintance was gangster Moe Dalitz, a casino owner in Las Vegas.

I think Travis Tritt still sells concert tickets. Country fans are loyal. I have no idea what Kid Rock's fan base is like and whether or not they are as loyal. But that wasn't my point. The Offspring are acting like they're doing some amazing act that will move the needle, but honestly, when was the last time anyone heard about them? This is less an act of defiance as a grasp to get any sort of talk going about a band no one remembers. And I'm not saying that Tritt or Kid Rock didn't have similar motivation.

Yeah, do that "both sides" thing again as if you can point to legislation from Dems that are as draconian and hateful as the right. No normal voter is basing their vote on the trans nonsense. I think this is a good point about Dylan Mulvaney:
This is an ADULT MALE not only pretending to be a woman but he chooses to act like a preteen girl. Younger then 13…..he confirms this in his own videos. In his videos he is often running around in nothing but a t-shirt and socks, talking about having crushes on boys and sleepovers. With small underdeveloped breasts, talking like a young girl, acting like a young girl. Talking about periods while he holds a box of tampons.
[He is] teaching young girls that adult men at any point can identify as a female and have the mind of someone their age. Someone who wants to have sleepovers with them. That these young girls can trust them. You don’t think there is a problem with this?
Do you understand what kind of society you are building for your daughters, nieces and female cousins by condoning this?

My comment was if they are right or wrong on the substance of the issue. Nowhere did I comment on their motives or methods - and for that matter, on the motives and methods of the left that endorses that ideology.
But I can take the right's legislation and raise you the left legislating violent transwomen in female prisons and only the affirming method of treatment of anyone with gender dysphoria. Let's see, shall we, what does and will cause more lives lost or mutilated - the right banning medicalized transition for underage children or the left radicalizing enough professions so they now force any dysphoric kid into puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

R290, I don't agree that boycotters will go right back to Bud Light.
The whole reason for this stunt by the brand manager was the sliding sales in the first place. The problem is that, while Bud Light was one of the earlier light beers to market, it now faces huge competition.
Why do people drink this kind of swill? It's mostly force of habit. It's primarily straight men who don't think much about grocery shopping or brands. They just order or buy what they've always ordered or bought and don't think twice.
What if they break that unthinking habit, and try non-Anheuser Busch mass-market brands like Amstel Light, Beck's Light, Keystone Light, Yuengling Light, or the big boy, Coors Light? They may form a new unthinking habit, and the new beer may be their go-to from now on.
It's not the 1980s. The market is saturated with light beers that are equal or better in price or flavor. In my view, by aggressively flipping off their current customers (calling them "fratty" and "out of touch"), they've only made their vulnerable position worse.
The CEO's statement was not exactly a ringing vote of confidence in this strategy.

No, it's not moving the goal posts, it's people like you having no goal posts for the right-wing and setting up impossibly high ones for the left and then acting as though YOU are debating in good faith about how "both sides" are bad. No matter how many times you attempt to equate what the right is doing with what the left is doing, it will always be in bad faith because what you are actually doing is tantamount to telling us the jaywalker is just as bad as the drunk driver who just ran over school children. And you seem to devote far more time to convincing us the former is more concerning.
There are far more women who will be hurt by right-wing legislation than will be hurt by any perceived "special rights" you think are being given to the blip of transpeople who exist in this country. If you're a woman in a red state having a difficult pregnancy, you will potentially die because the doctors are afraid to help you. If you drink some shit beer, your dick won't fall off and make you suddenly attracted to women.

R317, in this case the Right is correct about the kids.
So far, we know about at least 2 teenage girls suing because doctors surgically removed their breasts when they were 13 and 15.
We also have Dylan Mulvaney telling his little girl followers that it is perfectly normal for a 28-year old man to be acting like he is pre-teen like them and talking about Tampons and sleepovers. How is he any different than Jessica Yaniv?
We also have several cases where parents are suing because schools hid info from them regarding their child's gender identity. School employees taught an 11-year old girl how to use a breast binder. Another such case involved an 8-year old boy where the teacher was holding him back during recess and showing him "I Am Jazz" videos!
And so many more cases that have been discussed here on DL.
None of this type of sh*t was happening during the Marriage Equality movement.

They aren't physically attacking female free speech activists or ganging up on lesbians? They aren't gaslighting women that penises are vaginas - the same technique used by cults to break down women's instincts for self-preservation?

Let's see. How difficult is to say that medical transitioning of dysphoric / autistic / contagion-captured / gender-nonconforming kids does nothing for their healthcare or underlying problems - on the contrary, doesn't alleviate suicidality but creates medical patients for life? Yet, the left will die on the hill of not saying it.
It's perfectly possible to say the right is right on the issue of underage kids, and not right on outright bans for adults. Because that's what common sense tells most people in this country.

Since then, 47 biological males who identify as transgender have been allowed entry into women’s prisons in California. As of 2022, over 33% of the 349 men seeking to transfer under this law under the guise of ‘gender identity’ are registered sex offenders. Over a quarter have been convicted of a sex offense.

Times have really changed over the last 23 years since I was in high school in 1999 and I went to high school in LA. Sex ed was like the most clinical thing in the world, nothing interesting at all was shared. We knew absolutely nothing about our teachers personal lives, they never talked about there personal lives, and 90% of the time, if it was your word against the teacher, they won. If you didn't study, you failed. There was no trigger warnings, no safe spaces (this might have been nice as a gayling), and no negotiation on the standard "college prep" curriculum. I could not even imagine something like that trans teacher coming to school with the the huge XXXXXL breasts that are just removable prosthetics or teachers even talking to us about our private parts. I went to a private school,. but all the families very extremely Hollywood and liberal. I don't really care about most of it, but I think the whole MTF trans discussing periods and tampon insertion with girls is very odd. As men, we have absolutely no idea at all what it feels like to have a period or use a tampon (although I heard Michael Jackson was into this for some reason) and anal fissures don't count.
I don't know why Democrats want to dive on this sword as such a big part of their messaging and I don't understand why republicans would want to ban abortions knowing that will kill a huge amount of support. It seems suicidal and for both parties, it's all about power. Both are corrupt and awful

[quote] Graham said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Greene’s remarks could “destroy America’s ability to defend itself.”
[quote] “The way we gather intelligence protects our country,” Graham said. “There are military members serving today from Georgia and other places who are less safe because of what this airman did.”

I'm just wondering how the transphobes here like being aligned in their views with right wingers.
by Anonymous | reply 382 | April 16, 2023 7:57 PM |
It's about truth, R382. Children should not be mutilated or chemically castrated. Woman deserve their spaces and their sports. Trans will never be other than their biological sex, to pretend otherwise is a huge fucking delusion and how dare they expect the world to participate in their profound delusion.
by Anonymous | reply 383 | April 16, 2023 8:14 PM |
R382 it hasn't dawned on you yet that the extreme positions of TRAs are so unpalatable and delusional that many many people left, right and center are opposing them. How does that feel? The Communist Party of the UK oppose. Western European governments are reconsidering their stance.
by Anonymous | reply 384 | April 16, 2023 8:44 PM |
r384 They're one of those people that believe the extremely unhinged and radical TRAs are right-wing plants to make trans people look bad. Never mind the fact that actual laws have been passed, by the progressive left, that allow biological males into women's spaces like changing rooms and prisons. We're all imagining this shit, apparently.
by Anonymous | reply 385 | April 16, 2023 8:48 PM |
To be fair, there are different levels of gender critical people. Some do just have genuine concerns for female spaces and aren't horrible people at all. I think the majority belong in that category.
But there's another really nasty element that are abusive, shitty and aligned with the right wing. They've turned this into an obsession to the point it dominates their life in an unhealthy fashion. They're terminally online and will post endless tweets, then they'll shift to sites like this - ie message boards - repeating the same stuff over and over and over. They struggle to tolerate disagreement. Instead of thinking "hmm maybe we could have a discussion about where we differ" it's more "go dilate, misogynist! You hate women, you evil piece of shit!" etc etc.
The latter are smaller in number, but because they're such prolific posters it's easy to assume there are millions of them.

[quote] Some do just have genuine concerns for female spaces and aren't horrible people at all. I think the majority belong in that category.
r386 Those people still get bullied and called Nazis, though.
For the record, I'm one of those people and have been advocating for trans only spaces because I agree they need to feel safe, too. But when people start attacking me for expressing just that and basically demanding I, as a biological female, be willing to accept biological (in-tact) males into female spaces, my patience wears very thin and yeah, I may or may not cuss a bitch out over it every now and again. But there is a "build" to that level of frustration that I typically get pushed to. And it tends to depend on who I'm talking to about this subject.
It's a sore subject because I genuinely don't feel comfortable in spaces where I'm vulnerable (i.e. locker room) and men are present. Most females aren't. I mean, hell, they don't even do caged animals this way. Unless specifically for breeding purposes, females are kept separate from males when in season. If female dogs can get the same damn courtesy of separation from males when vulnerable, I don't know why we can't.

If this company is a big GOP donor but they have Dylan as a spokesperson, does that mean they’re actually trying to genocide Dylan because that’s all the GOP do apparently and this company loves the GOP so they must be into genociding trans?

Good God, r388! I was having a bit of fun with r381's post (and you aren't r381). Why would you choose to take offense?

r390 Or maybe the TRA conspiracy theorists are right and Dylan is a right-wing shill planted to make trans people look bad. He is the grandson of a billionaire. So, he comes from a wealthy family. Wealthy people tend to lean Republican politically. There have been suspicions that Dylan, who is also an actor, is actually a troll and putting on an act. This is one theory I could see being possible, honestly. Because he's just...too much.

Him being a Republican plant (which I've also suspected as much with Lia Thomas) would make the DLers buying Bud Light to prove a point and to "feel good" about themselves look kind of foolish.....

R386 Fuck right off and go dilate, you mental fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 394 | April 16, 2023 9:15 PM |
R389 Thing is, as a biological female you're kind of encroaching on male space here. I appreciate I'm being a little unfair because DL has never been specifically stated as being for gay men only, but a quick look at the topics shows they're primarily by and for gay men.
I think that's what kind of annoys me - ie that women are taking it upon themselves to descend here to lecture gay men about how we've got it all wrong. When you go on about men encroaching on female spaces but come here to do it, I think it's tone deaf.
by Anonymous | reply 395 | April 16, 2023 9:22 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 396 | April 16, 2023 9:29 PM |
r395 That is nowhere near being the same thing as a damn linebacker making his way into the women's dressing room. This comparison is retarded.
by Anonymous | reply 397 | April 16, 2023 9:47 PM |
R397 I didn't say it was the same thing; I was drawing parallels. The fact of the matter is you're (by your own admission) a biological woman in a place that's largely populated by and for gay men - with the sole purpose of telling us off and telling us how to think. Maybe you're not that different to those you rail against.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | April 16, 2023 10:06 PM |
r398 Quite frankly, if any person (regardless of their sexual orientation or sex) is behind trying to make it easier for biological males to get into female spaces, their "thinking" is objectively fucked up and needs to be told off by the nearest person with sense, bepenised or not. What a weird detail to focus on, considering the topic.

by Anonymous | reply 400 | April 16, 2023 10:32 PM |

r389 "Trans rights" at least since 2015 or even before, have meant consistently the same = Trans Women Are Women = Trans (ex. bio males) = Women.
If you deny that very basic fact, you are indeed a transPHOBe (in addition to LGBTQIA+phobe) and TERF according to #TransRightsAreHumanRights-chanters.
You may have been deludedly thinking yourself as some sort of trans rights supporter (I've seen the same pattern with "I've always supported trans rights but! Lia Thomas" or whatever)
but you apparently deny trans that very basic right: "(Male) Trans = Women" by refusing them into your women's spaces (so you don't think trans women are women) and shoving trans into trans spaces (again, refusing "one type of women" and shoving them into a separate "ghetto")
by Anonymous | reply 424 | April 17, 2023 7:12 AM |
R424, at the end of this is the loss of all meaning in the terms 'woman' and 'man'. If everyone and anyone can now call themselves 'woman' or 'man' - or both at the same time - there's no reality to these words and concepts any more. They signify nothing.
