Porn actor Trevor Laster has reportedly committed suicide

I've never heard of him but it's not surprising at all. Humiliation, physical degradation, steroids and drugs like meth and heroin all seem to be pervasive throughout porn.

Recognizable 'stars' from Johnny Rapid to Sebastian Young and so many others are violent criminals, rapists, even child rapists.

All the gigantic musclebodies in porn are steroidal.

I have no idea if he is a criminal as is typical, but I remember James Huntsman was a sexy but boring straight performer who wouldn't do anything for years but stand there and get his dick sucked, and then he blew up into a steroidal muscle monster with steroidal boobs and fucked guys and then disappeared. Given how disgusted he looked, how unwilling he was to engage physically at all with any guy in a scene with him, it had to have been a huge personal humiliation to him to resort to fucking a guy on camera, but it's hard to imagine he didn't fuck rich gross old men for years before doing onscreen anal with guys.

You can see the self-degradation of many of these guys in physical form, from the drug abuse to the psychological damage, if they stick around long enough. It's no surprise so many of them end so tragically at young ages. It is a miracle that Brent Corrigan and Ryan Rose are still alive—probably only because they are actually gay and don't feel ashamed and humiliated by having gay sex publicly.

I've posted this before, but I find Thomas Joiner's interpersonal theory of suicide very compelling. Basically, he argues that it's difficult (physically and mentally) to commit suicide, and two things must converge in the same person for that person to die by their own hand: the desire to die, and the capacity to kill oneself. (Far more people are suicidal than will carry through with the act.)

He posits that one can acquire the capacity to kill oneself through a habituation to pain -- via drug use, tattoos or self-mutilation, physical or sexual abuse, combat, eating disorders, etc. So it's clear that porn (and the lifestyle surrounding porn) would habituate one to suicide.

That makes sense, R4.

On a simple level, it also makes sense to me that people whose entire lives and livelihoods and senses of self-worth are anchored in being youthfully attractive—which has an expiration date during youth—and who necessarily are, in all cases, addicted to adoration for their appearances, will self-destruct quickly as they age out of youth.

What else do they have to live for when appearances are the driving force of every single aspect of their lives, from what they eat to what they do to who they know and who they value to how much they are paid.

Tina, Tina, Tina. It is never sustainable.

The NYC judge who advertises his porn on Twitter and advertises for any man within traveling distance to come fill him up with their semen overwhelmingly is defended and supported by gay men, who refuse to believe that he is harming himself and in a self-destructive cycle. R3 because he can’t defend himself, I want to say that Sebastian Young was found innocent of the child rape/molestation charges. It was some school related creep that raped his daughter. Sebastian as adamant that he never touched his daughter and he was being made a target because he does adult gay porn.

He never had the STD (shocker) that he daughter had, which lead to the investigation. It was another person, but his reputation was already destroyed.

I hate people making these generalizations. He was a super sweet guy, I think he went to Oregon to get away from the toxic vibe in WEHO. He had family support and posted photos of his family, he was getting involved in the community up there. I just messaged him on March 17th, I didn't get much of a reply back.

As a personal trainer in WEHO, he had a huge smile and so much enthusiasm for working out and his clients. Besides his good looks, and killer bod, he made an impression on me. Hope he is in peace.

This guy is a sex performer who died by suicide, which is terrifying to most DL-ers because (clearly) we're all on the edge. A lot of suicides have nothing to do with porn. A lot of porn stars have second jobs and their failure of making it in porn and having to continue to struggle with their primary job and lifestyle can certainly lead to suicide.

Trevor had been out of porn for a long time.

1) Erik Rhodes did not die by suicide. He died of heart failure.

2) HIV was no longer a death sentence when he died, so it was unlikely that would have led him to commit suicide anyway.

3) Trevor Laster was making new scenes for porn as recently as 2022

4) Porn stars who committed suicide at the height of their career include: Arpad Miklos, Roman Ragazzi, Wilfried Knight...

I know someone (who I won't name but he was a big name in porn in the 80s and 90s) who's maybe a little neurotic (like so many of us) but is doing perfectly fine - happy, has a career, financially stable. He's now in his mid 50s.

Some of you want to make sweeping generalizations about people who do porn based on the ones you hear about who come to a bad end. But the ones who are stable and adjusted don't make news.
