‘Interview With the Vampire’ Star Bailey Bass Not Returning as Claudia in Season 2

I thought she was a shitty actor. I didn't like that sing-song voice she used when she played "young Claudia". Very hammy.

What fascinating news, OP!
Did Miss Bailey Bass Mis Behave?

Props to the poster who told us this would happen months ago. I did wonder if they'd gotten bad info but it seems they were right.

r3 Did that poster give any reasons as to why this would happen?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 1, 2023 9:48 PM |
She has a penis.

r4, she was a problematic to work with with crew (but not cast), lots of demands, very unprofessional, didn't learn her lines, and everybody thought she was a terrible actress when she had to act younger. The crew hated her.

Great news, she stunk.

r6 Oooh, juicy! I saw Reddit speculating that she might be focusing on the Avatar movies, which just made me laugh. Didn't Cameron film two of those back-to-back? Meaning there's years still until she's needed for the fourth one.

[quote]and claudia should be played by a child
Eugh, no, I'm glad they aged her up. Good child actors are hard to come by, plus it would not be a good look what with the current groomer discourse.

R6 is just making shit up. As usual.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 1, 2023 10:16 PM |
I liked her as Claudia.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 1, 2023 10:18 PM |
R9 Authors intent. Claudia was the authors dead child, an adult stuck in a childs body.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 1, 2023 10:19 PM |
I liked her as well. Yeah, the accent was over the top at times, but I'm rarely bothered by that.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 1, 2023 10:20 PM |
r10, interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 1, 2023 10:20 PM |
r12 And now she's a pre-pubescent teenager, destined to fuck either boys or pedos for the rest of her life, even when she's mentally a septuagenarian. How is that not just as bad?
Also, I don't give a shit about author's intent, the book was published in '76 , some things have to change. And Anne was attached as an exec producer!

Filming stopped a couple of weeks ago because of the strike.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 23, 2023 8:46 PM |
This cast is quite uninteresting.

You couldn't be more wrong; the cast is fantastic and has great chemistry with each other.

R19 Sure, Jan

The cast is great. Sam Reid makes a perfect Lestat.

I don’t think Anne or Christopher have much input into the show or its direction. It was hinted that Anne didn’t agree and got booted to silent partner status. That is, was pushed aside and paid money to not say anything. Christopher commented on social media that he wasn’t allowed to comment on the show when someone asked him.

Anne died, dear.

R23 Perhaps she left instructions in her will. Who knows? She'd tossed all the vampire stuff anyway and become a Christian nutter.

Jesus, even before the strike they weren’t bringing it back until 2024?! Why and how has this become such a common trend? I don’t understand how networks and producers are figuring they will keep their audiences with years long breaks in between seasons, etc. At this point, I have been attempting to avoid any new shows that I can’t stream in those entirety, I’m so sick of getting invested in something, giving it so much time to enjoy the story and to see it play out and then having to go six or seven years to see what happens. I wish there were an aggressive backlash against this sort of thing.

Because they do. So far having two years between seasons has not been presented any real issues in the times it has happened.

Sadly R26, you're right. Or if it has, we don't yet know about it. But as more diversified content becomes available and more competitive, I think we'll soon know that these networks are bleeding viewers. I recently saw a preview for Wheel of Time. It hasn't been away that terribly long, but I just have no interest in it anymore. Of course I pay for Amazon Prime so it's no loss on their part. But there are other shows that I loved that disappeared and came back that I never had an interest in again after they went missing.
It isn't that the hiatuses are so long, it's that you don't know anymore. The networks do no advertising to keep the shows fresh for their viewers. They don't tell their viewers/customers when or if the shows they've paid to watch are coming back. South Park is one of those shows. I'm not sure how they've maintained viewers but I'm guessing most of their viewers don't watch the series live anymore. South Park will have six episodes or less. It goes away for two years, give or take, then suddenly pops-up again with little more than a week or two of promotion. It's become such a strange and entitled way to conduct business.

R28 That's something, at least.

R12 Hate to break it to you but all of Anne Rice's vampires were incapable of sexual relations.
Lestat had to leave his body to experience sex after his conversion to vampirism. See The Tale of the Body Thief.
