Was filmed before as Damage by Louis Malle with Jeremy Irons and Juliette Binoche.
Obsession on Netflix: Richard Armitage seduces his son’s fiancée

Richard Armitage is so sexy. I'm glad coming out didn't completely restrict him from playing straight leading men roles.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 1, 2023 1:05 AM |
He’s not out out.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 1, 2023 1:06 AM |
When did he come out?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 1, 2023 1:06 AM |
He didn’t.

[quote]He’s not out out.
When you announce it during an interview, you're out out.
[quote]Richard Armitage comes out as gay and confirms he’s in a “good” relationship, 6 January 2020
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 1, 2023 1:08 AM |
I'd take the hot as fuck father over that needy little nerd too.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 1, 2023 1:09 AM |
That being said, this should have been a gay remake with a “straight” father who is seduced by his out gay son’s new boyfriend (played by Froy)
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 1, 2023 1:15 AM |
The original is so fucking sexy. Made me fall in lust with Jeremy Irons
I love Armitage and I will be checking this out. I don’t even care if it’s not as good
I have even read the book
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 1, 2023 1:22 AM |
It would be better if he slept with his daughter's male fiance

You reminded me of the DL best EST ever: "I'm in Love With My Father-in-Law".
Except in that est, the SIL was married to the FILs daughter.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 1, 2023 1:26 AM |
This movie had one of the coldest lines ever:
“You should have died so we could have mourned you”
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 1, 2023 1:28 AM |
They should have made the girlfriend East Asian or Black
Then it could have been a metaphor for colonialism!
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 1, 2023 1:45 AM |
The girl they cast is too plain looking
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 1, 2023 12:10 PM |
Miranda Richardson was amazing in the original.
Considering she was playing the Jocasta-like mother semi-in love with her son, she wasn’t pathetic at all and stole the show away from Jeremy Irons at his erotic best, a never more icily sensual Juliette Binoche, lovely Rupert Graves and a very mysterious Ian Bannen.
Indira Varma seems like a casting no brained and Armitage should do well, but this bitch the cast as the fiancée isn’t a patch on La Binoche.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | April 13, 2023 11:30 AM |
Is he playing straight? Lol!
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 13, 2023 11:39 AM |
FWIW, Richard Armitage is fine.
This bitch from Happy Valley, on the other hand, is abysmal, and looks about 45. She’s less Crazy Sexy, more Crazy Talking To Her Imaginary Friend.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 13, 2023 11:47 AM |
Richard Armitage did the smoulderingly erotic in a cravat thing so well in North And South that after the first episode the BBC shut down their message board because it was bombarded with people asking who the hell this beautiful man was.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 13, 2023 11:54 AM |
He’s married to Indira Varma but becomes obsessed with this one? Oh, okay. Sure that’s believable.

Miranda was outstanding but she was far too young for the role. She was in her early 30s and playing the mother of a man in his late 20s.

Strawberry blondes over the age of 25 or often appear of indeterminate age for the next 30 years
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 13, 2023 12:27 PM |
She reminds me somewhat of young Melissa Gilbert, R22. RC could do better.
Also, please no more scenes where someone puts food in another person's mouth and it's supposed to be sexy, especially not an olive that looks like it came from a bulk restaurant-supply container.

But did Dicky present dong at all, at last?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 13, 2023 3:24 PM |
This review calls it “ The most unintentionally hysterical show of the year”
I know what I’m hatewatching this evening
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 13, 2023 4:41 PM |
Thick and stubby. Nice.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 13, 2023 5:23 PM |
It's terrible. Anna is supposed to be a 24 year old femme fatale not a woman in her mid 30s with smoker's lines. The original with Jeremy Irons and beautiful Juliet Binoche was much better. At least you could understand why all these men were obsessed with her.
Also why is the son Jay full Indian when the mother is only faintly Indian and William is white with blue eyes?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 14, 2023 12:12 AM |
Link to clips from the film showing Armitage's dick.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 14, 2023 12:24 AM |
Now I knew he would trim his pubes but I am disappointed at his overall lack of body hair.
The soft dark curls I expected to see decorating his torso are absent.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 14, 2023 3:58 AM |
R31 I guess the acting pool for South Asian guys of the appropriate age is small.
And as it is Indira Varma is actually biracial.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 14, 2023 4:08 AM |
Jay and his sister should not have looked more Asian than their mother! They would have had very light skin with possibly light eyes, like the guy who plays Nish in Eastenders. Also Jay and Anna's brother are supposed to look similar, and Anna definitely isn't Asian, nor is her mother.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 14, 2023 5:05 AM |
Well people can look similar and not have the same ethnicity so that doesn’t bother me.
But the bigger problem is Anna’s casting. The actress is “acting”. If Jay is a medical student or young doctor we can put him at 25 or so, and older Anna to be 30-35. But her heavy markup in the scene at the Westminster bar was awful, made her look like she was trying too hard.
It needed an actress with a naturally darker sexuality that didn’t need to forced, a Natalie Dormer or Lea Seydoux type.
I can’t picture a man destroying it all for little Charlie Murphy.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 14, 2023 5:46 AM |
Nor can I. Juliet Binoche was perfectly cast and only 28 at the time. Anna in the novel Damage is 24. Charlie Murphy cannot pass as 24 with those smoker's lines around her mouth.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 14, 2023 6:23 AM |
Dicky has gone full frontal, now it's Jack Davenport's turn to show us what's he's got between those thighs!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 14, 2023 11:21 AM |
The sister said that Anna is “older” without mentioning an age so they did away with her being 24. That would be utterly implausible with this casting.
One woman a man did throw away his 32 year old underwear model wife for was Kristen Stewart. I know she’s hated by millions but she takes roles with European eroticism; and she doesn’t need this role.
The current actress seems to be styled to look like Jessie Buckley.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 14, 2023 5:02 PM |
The actress is laughable as the seducer.
I didn't need to watch RA sit on the floor with his bare ass. Who thought this was a good idea?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 18, 2023 11:54 PM |
R40 I should've been cast as the floor!
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 19, 2023 12:00 AM |
Casted.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 19, 2023 12:00 AM |
I think I would rather be the bed he tries to fuck.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 19, 2023 12:01 AM |
I read that as "Richard Armitage seduces his fiancée's son." Got me curious, ngl. Alas, it's another boring hetero drama.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 19, 2023 12:04 AM |
Is it better than Icon Male's "My Boyfriend's Dad"?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 19, 2023 12:12 AM |
Trying to rape a bed is sexy?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 19, 2023 12:16 AM |
[QUOTE] Casted
No such word. The verb 'to cast' is irregular. Past tense is 'I got cast/was cast' not 'casted'.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 19, 2023 6:19 AM |
R16 Female actresses in these type of roles HAVE to be plain looking for their plain female audiences to connect to.
That’s why Kristen Stewart, Dakota Fanning, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston had big female followings.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 19, 2023 6:59 AM |
It’s not as bad as the reviews are making out but a standard glossy Netflix thriller.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 19, 2023 8:04 AM |
The sex scenes were not hot for some reason despite the actor. The main 2 didn’t have chemistry and I agree with others she was too plain.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 19, 2023 8:40 AM |
I'd be more interested if he was seducing his son's fiancé.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | April 19, 2023 8:50 AM |
[quote]He’s married to Indira Varma but becomes obsessed with this one? Oh, okay. Sure that’s believable.
I know, right? Who would pick that plain girl over Indira Varma. I've liked her since I saw the Bollywood Bride and Prejudice where she played the Caroline Bingley character (Anna Chancellor - another fantastic actress).
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 19, 2023 1:01 PM |
Somehow the fiancé reminds me of Julia Davis as Jill Tyrrell from Nighty Night. The first sexy scene, when she laid down on the floor, is something Jill would do trying to be seductive.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 20, 2023 3:23 AM |
There was an almost total lack of oral sex. Just one scene where Richard has his face smushed against the fiancée’s ass cheek.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 20, 2023 10:09 AM |
Was the son adopted, he seemed an entirely different race from the rest of the family. And the daughter is non-binary ACE right? She lucked out not having to wear that bridesmaid’s dress, she looked awkward as hell in it.

In real life, Harvey Weinstein was married to Georgina Chapman and still he decided to be a total sex pest, harassing women at his job. Some married men are more into the power play, the chase, the danger and the forbidden that comes with cheating. In the case of the series, she's a forbidden fruit, his own son's lover. Some people, male or female, are drawn to drama and destruction like a moth to a flame.

Whatever happened to the conjoined twins? Do they survive? Are they a metaphor, I don’t remember them in the original movie?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | April 20, 2023 1:45 PM |
Schlock.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | April 20, 2023 2:43 PM |
This situation would actually appear to be a Reverse Oedipus Complex which I don’t believe is a phenomenon which actually exists. But fathers often have a subliminal desire to destroy or deny their sons their sons their rightful inheritance, usually done out of denial/fear/anger of their own death (the show Succession.)
by Anonymous | reply 59 | April 20, 2023 2:52 PM |
Indira Varma is 49 - of course the husband wants someone younger.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | April 21, 2023 6:18 AM |
The new girl is not hot and appears to be in her mid 30s.
