Blue Bloods, of course.
Hideously dreadful MAGA porn TV show renewed for yet ANOTHER season
by Anonymous | reply 82 | April 1, 2023 9:54 AM |
Ugh, he's gotten old and fat.
He was always a shitty actor, but he used to have those good looks to make up for it. Women were too busy dreaming of a mustache ride to notice how lacking he really was.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | March 29, 2023 6:33 PM |
My favorite show. I love Jamie Reagan. And somehow, I can't imagine a single Reagan voted for Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | March 29, 2023 6:34 PM |
I bet he has made an absolute mint off this show and will in perpetuity. He and people like Mark Harmon have hit the sweet spot. James Spader is another.
I love to see when a would be washout/has been is able to sneak in and end up winning it all. From B list to set for life.
Andy Griffin in Matlock is another good one. Although he was probably already rich from AGShow.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | March 29, 2023 6:39 PM |
CBS is going MAGA. Didn't they offer Roseanne a contract, to write a series, about working class MAGAs? Tom Selleck is despicable.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | March 29, 2023 6:39 PM |
Ryan Philippe’s show is called Shooter? Could they not come up with a more creative name?
They should have just called it “Pow Pow Bang”
by Anonymous | reply 5 | March 29, 2023 6:40 PM |
R4 They've always been the Old People Network.
JAG
NCIS
Big Bang Theory
Blue Bloods
The Good Wife
It's all as bland and comforting as a bowl of plain oatmeal.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | March 29, 2023 6:42 PM |
A lot of money and time and meetings go into giving a network show its title and they came up with ‘Shooter.’
I’m at a loss for words.
(And clearly so were they!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | March 29, 2023 6:43 PM |
Who are we kidding; they should have reneythis show for 15 more years! We know it will never end.

🤗 Selleck looks pretty damn fine for a 78 year old man.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | March 29, 2023 6:47 PM |
Even the title implies racism and privilege.

Bif Bang Theory was never an old person show; look at its demographic ratings 18-49.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | March 29, 2023 6:52 PM |
The new Reagan, Joe Hill, makes momma's mussy moist.
The only show I watch.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | March 29, 2023 6:56 PM |
“Shooter” as a title is not exactly drawing me in. Was “man with gun” not available? Was it named by a bot? The algorithm took a good look at the show and came up with “shooter”
Surely they didn’t spend millions testing and contracting marketing firms to come up with that. Maybe someone let the sexy but dim intern name the show?
Maybe this was the temporary name and they forgot to update it in post production. Like a place holder.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | March 29, 2023 6:57 PM |
CBS has flirted with deplorables at least going back a couple decades now. I don’t get their connection but it’s there

Will Estes. Still the most handsome man on television.

The only people I know who watch this show are elderly white people. I mentioned to a friend of mine that my dad loves this show and he quipped "everyone's dad loves that show." We're both over 50 so our dads are all in their 80s.

😏 People who take out reverse mortgages do so without the intention of ever paying the money back. Whatever their reason, they want cash and want it now, they and don't really care what happens after they're gone.

by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 29, 2023 7:38 PM |
I'm a very progressive liberal and I have been watching the show since season one. It's pretty well nuanced for a show about a police family. And Will Estes is still dreamy to look at.

CBS has always been the dumbest, most basic network.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | March 30, 2023 5:37 AM |
My mom used to watch this and she was far from MAGAT. She just had shitty, awful taste in television. Whenever I would go back home to visit for the holidays, it would be marathons of this, SVU or everything and anything Lifetime/Hallmark TV movies. She and her boyfriend had the TV on round the clock (it was mostly him; she liked to take breaks).
I think this show is a shitfest, but it is super popular and I think it's really shitty of CBS to make the entire team take a 25% pay cut in order to keep the show going. CBS basically mints money on this show. It does spectacularly well not only in its network timeslot, but everywhere it airs/streams. They could easily pay the team their regular salaries and still make a fantastic profit. It's one thing to ay- hey, we can't give you your yearly salary bump, but to cut people's paychecks for the pure greed of it is ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | March 30, 2023 5:51 AM |
R40 you just described my mother to a T. What kills me is she will watch the same episode 4 times in a month. This and all the SVU and CSI shows, over and over . Then she bitches when I dont watch tv with her.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | March 30, 2023 5:59 AM |
R37 Len Cariou used to know how to pick good projects. He was the original Sweeney Todd, you know!
The toothy old fool also played the cad in "The Four Seasons," and played a rare villainous role as an alien posing as Captain Janeway's dead father in a creepy episode of "Star Trek: Voyager"
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 30, 2023 6:08 AM |
Yep, R41. Or they will say to me- You can watch whatever you want to, we're not watching this. The ONE time, years ago, I took them up on it, it was something on PBS (this was before everything was online and on demand) and I knew I would likely not have a chance to see it again, they both started in with the sighs and eye rolls (the boyfriend especially) and I gave up after 10 minutes and never asked again.
The last few years I would visit, I would just put in my headphones and play any sort of classical music so I could read without having to hear the TV 24/7. The only place to sit in the condo besides the living room/dining room was an adjoining den that didn't have a door, so there was no escaping it until I went to bed.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | March 30, 2023 6:09 AM |
It's a MAGA show, it's a boomer one. Just like NCIS. Liberal boomers also watch it.

R44 *it isn't
by Anonymous | reply 45 | March 30, 2023 6:56 AM |
Haven't watched Blue Bloods in years. It pissed me off that the whole family had normal accents but the son who had a really broad accent that just didn't fit in. Where did he learn it?
I understand why old people watch it though and I don't think it has anything to do with politics. It's just easy stuff to watch and you don't have to concentrate on it and you always know how its going to end. It's same old, same old and it's comfortable to watch. You don't have to think at all.
It's the TV equivalent of living an easy life.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | March 30, 2023 8:09 AM |
Signing up to be a member of this TV Reagan family - doesn't it mean that the only way to get out of Sunday dinner is to die, go off to college or, what else? Didn't they murder Donnie Wahlberg's wife so the actress could opt-put? And then there was the granddaughter... isn't she gone? I haven't watched the program in years... the two grandsons must be college age - did either opt to get out of the metro area for school? And didn't the Reagan's learn that the long-dead son knock-up some broad before getting murdered? Did they add the little bastard to the Sunday arguments over mashed potatoes and grizzled beef?
by Anonymous | reply 47 | March 30, 2023 10:09 AM |

R5, R7, R18; "Shooter" is based off a movie of the same name. Starring Mark Wahlburg no less!! It barely broke even at the box office but did well on home video. So there was already some name recognition for the TV show title.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | March 30, 2023 12:10 PM |
Never watched the show, simply because I've never been a fan of Selleck. What exactly is wrong with the show? Why does DL not appreciate it?

by Anonymous | reply 55 | March 30, 2023 12:33 PM |
R50, yes.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | March 30, 2023 1:04 PM |
R54 There is no MAGA connection to the show. Some people here automatically assume if it is a show about law enforcement, that the cast, the crew and the viewers are probably right wing voters, so they must be MAGA. This show is shot in New York City. NYC residents are overwhelmingly Democrats who hated Trump even before he ran for president for his self-promoting. narcissism, his corrupt business dealings, and his racism. I cannot speak for the shows viewership in middle America.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | March 30, 2023 1:37 PM |
My 84yo father-in-law LOVES this show. He calls it “The Blue Bloods.” He is always going on about how good the writing is, for some reason. And yes, he’s a Fox/Newsmax viewer, though he keeps quiet about it when my husband and I visit.
From seeing buts of the show at their house over the years, it seems like its politics are not exactly overt, but of course it’s extremely pro-cop, stodgy and traditional in a way that feels conservative.
I also notice Selleck is usually seated behind a desk or shot in a way to conceal his bulk and that doesn’t require him to move much.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | March 30, 2023 1:51 PM |
How anyone can watch CBS for any show is a mystery to me. The other two networks are not far behind in their awfulness.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | March 30, 2023 1:56 PM |
The storylines are always pro-cop.
The Black kid always deserved it.
The reporters and reformers are just butting in and need to be arrested for asking so many questions.
The rest of us should be down on our knees sucking the cocks of law enforcement 24/7 for “all that they do.”
It’s nauseating for its views, but also for its predictability. It has the same patriotic and lazy scripts as NCIS.

People actually watch this show? Seems very under the radar to me, unlike "Magnum, P.I."
by Anonymous | reply 65 | March 30, 2023 2:46 PM |
It's a MAGA show because it's very cop-centric and cop-worshipping, law and order, "good guys" v. "bad guys" framing. It has a hardcore Reaganite vibe about it. It appeals to older law and order conservatives even if they hate Trump. Its very much a throwback, like it was written and conceived in the 1980s or earlier.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | March 30, 2023 2:48 PM |
Broadcast TV is mostly terrible and for Fox News viewers.
If you watch the cop, fire and military dramas no wonder you cower in a corner afraid to leave your house, lest a black or brown person walk down your street!

Referring to a show as MAGA porn is part of the problem. It's a popular show. Shows like this are like opiates on the brain. Easy to watch right before bed.
Shows run forever now if they can because the new episodes helps streaming which gives more value to the new episodes, just like Grey's Anatomy. Never seen it, zero interest.

I don't want to get all too technical about this, but if the show is "Reaganite", I wouldn't call it MAGA-affiliated. From what I read here, it sounds like the show is indeed taking a conservative stance on how to view cops in today's society. I would call that conservative in the original sense, possibly in a "Reaganite" sense even. But those folks who consider themselves close to MAGA do not consider themselves close to former Republican conservatives. I am only pointing it out because I find the distinction between conservatives and MAGA folks important. The first I consider worthy participants in debates. The latter I consider enemies of the country.

[quote]I am only pointing it out because I find the distinction between conservatives and MAGA folks important.
So? I do not. There is no distinction. Reagan and Bush supporters gave us Trump just as much as Trump supporters did. A half century of race-baiting, attacking feminism and demonizing gay people, that leads all the way back to Nixon, is what led us to Trump. You don't get to claim some arbitrary distinction within a group of conservatives who marched in lockstep for decades just because it makes you feel better.
Trump is a symptom. The disease is conservatism.
