What's your favorite Liza Minnelli studio album?
I've just heard a metal (!) cover of "Losing my mind" and started thinking about Liza's version.
I wonder: what's your favorite Liza studio album? Mine is "Results". Yes, MARY!!!!!! I love it, and I've spinned it dozens and dozens of times over the decades. Something about the entire concept of Liza + Pet Shop Boys' electronica, it's delicious.
What about you?

Any of them other than perhaps the soundtrack to Cabaret (not listed) sell? I think of her as a performer who sings, but not so much a singer. She’s like Merman. Her vouce is harsh and she goes flat in the midst of her wobbly vibrato like Merman. It all works in performance in part due to power and acting out the song, but for my taste (and apparently a lot of people) not as a recording artist- like Merman.

The Singer and Tropical Nights are just awful. She's not a pop singer because she can't modulate her voice to make the songs work for her. She's a belter and that's really all she can do.
Streisand did better with pop because she has a better instrument and more control, but even she fell on her face a number of times trying to do that genre.

Streisand did pop pretty good! Lol- albums like Stony End and Guilty are full of great tracks- others as well. Streisand could sing almost anything. Of course she blows it from time to time. But in total, almost every album she has recorded has a few good tracks and usually almost all. She was not as much a hit maker as a recording artist who sold albums not singles.

R5, that would count as live album, although I think it was recorded during the soundcheck immediately prior to the live television performance.

[quote] The Carnegie Hall album.
That's a live album, boo. This thread is about studio albums, as specified in the title. But good to know that's your favorite (no snark)!

Why are gay me so stupid?
I was mainly questioning the choice of studio albums only, which of course is in the purview of the estimable OP. It IS like saying, "Which of these stinkers is the best now that I've taken the only truly good one out?"
But we are here to vote on polls and I love Liza before 1978 even though "Come Saturday Morning" is so bad I'm on the floor laughing at the title track alone.
Love the thread.
