Funny-ish story about Thomas Gibson:
He was married to my SIL’s best friend (who is a lovely woman) and in 2017, my son, husband and I were at the Louvre and saw Gibson there with one of their sons. We were in the queue to enter and they were about 20 yards away. We had never met him, but I elbowed my husband and said, “Look. Christina’s husband is here!” He caught us looking over at him, glared at us, then turned away.
A huge part of me wanted to walk up and ensure that he knew we were staring at him because he was a dick to Christine, not because he was a TV star. Blech.

Jonathan rhys Meyers. Colin Farrell was just nominated for an Oscar, while jrm is working on z list projects. I think it's close to a decade he has worked on anything remotely close to a studio or respectable tv project. You would think with the explosion of streaming series, he would land a supporting villain role at least. But he's not even doing those.

Delta Burke. Her career was on the fast-track in the 1980s and came to a dead halt when she left "DESIGNING WOMEN' playing the victim. Her career never recovered. Her attempts at sitcoms in the 90s failed miserably - everyone was done with her.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | March 28, 2023 2:42 PM |
Leaving a successful TV series is always a big mistake. No one maintains a career after that. Shelley Long, David Caruso, Delta Burke, even Rami Malek — you might work, but you'll never be at that same level again.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | March 28, 2023 3:41 PM |
R54, I see your point, but Caruso became an actual international star with [italic]CSI: Miami,[/italic] of which HE was the star, unlike [italic]NYPD Blues,[/italic] or whatever it was called (i found it boring and never watched more than 2-3 episodes).
Caruso is a giant egotistical, very weird guy, but he made massive $$$$$ on CSI:M, and never has to work again.

Even though they're both addicts, Farrell supposedly came from a loving family whereas JRM did not. Roseanne is completely mental & it's sad that for all her $$, there's no one in her life to keep her on her meds so she'll keep her crazy mouth shut. Many of these people pissed off the wrong people and are otherwise useless, while someone like Mel Gibson or Tiger Woods get chance after chance because they make people $$

R57, yeah and they are from different economic class. Though Farrell played up the wild Irish street boy image early in his career, I understood he was from a comfortable middle class family.
JRM on the other hand, said his family wasn't even working class since they didn't have jobs. His dad walked out on him and his 3 brothers before he was school age. YouTube the working class Cork accent. It's not posh. Funny how jrm ended up playing monarchs and aristocrats.

by Anonymous | reply 82 | March 30, 2023 3:59 PM |
You have to die or have serious public legal issues - even murdering somebody isn’t a career killer. If you’re a rapper for example it just benefits you. I think what we often see when someone fades after one scandal is that they never had a real fanbase to begin with and were just being propped up by the industry or their connections. So the second the industry side panics, they completely fall without any real audience to support them.

R70 I enjoyed Kathy while she still had the New Years gig, and I was with her when rightwingers got her cancelled her over the head photo. It's past time for her to get over it and move on, though.
I remember she wanted to do her own New Year show with Stormy Daniels and a stripper pole (which sounds hilarious!). Then said she couldn't because no networks would air it. I wondered why she couldn't just stream it herself in this day and age.

Mike Meyers
Working With Mike Myers Was 'Horrible, Nightmarish Experience,' Co-Star Says Earlier this month, a bodyguard-turned-radio DJ went viral for his account of working with Mike Myers on the movie The Love Guru. Jay Brody claimed that he was fired within hours of starting his job as a bodyguard on the set of the 2008 film just for looking at the star. And he's not the only person to have come forward with a scathing review of the Wayne's World star and his attitude on film sets. In 2003, Amy Hill co-starred with Myers in the Dr. Seuss adaptation The Cat in Hat, playing babysitter Mrs. Kwan. In an interview years later, she called working on the movie a "horrible, nightmarish experience" and characterized Myers as a "diva." Read on to
