People Blowing out Camdles on Birthday Cakes: So Disgusting!

Why wasn't this stopped when covid started?

by Anonymousreply 26March 21, 2023 2:08 AM

Candles

by Anonymousreply 1March 20, 2023 12:02 PM

Some people will never recover from COVID. Just like GIs who never got over the war.

by Anonymousreply 2March 20, 2023 12:05 PM

OP sounds fat.

by Anonymousreply 3March 20, 2023 12:08 PM

Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday to you!

Happy birthday dear

Happy birthday to you!

Don't spit on the cake!

by Anonymousreply 4March 20, 2023 12:08 PM

OP must be southern backwater.

by Anonymousreply 5March 20, 2023 12:10 PM

Tbh I would never eat birthday cake someone has blown on now, but then I’m immunocompromised and still need to try to avoid germs like the plague. Oh, I miss simpler times.

by Anonymousreply 6March 20, 2023 12:12 PM

OP sounds touched.

by Anonymousreply 7March 20, 2023 12:13 PM

R6 sounds like she has a poor grasp of nutrition and immune systems

by Anonymousreply 8March 20, 2023 12:14 PM

R7 I can almost guarantee I know more than you, sis.

by Anonymousreply 9March 20, 2023 1:27 PM

I think we should all avoid germs like the plague but maybe that’s just me.

by Anonymousreply 10March 20, 2023 1:27 PM

OP here, so often when there's a cluster of COVID cases, it comes from parties. Parties are risk enough, but who wants cake with spit blown all over it? The last birthday party I went to, there was cake but no candles. Good call. Luckily no COVID cases either.

by Anonymousreply 11March 20, 2023 10:31 PM

I used to fart on the food that left my kitchen

by Anonymousreply 12March 20, 2023 10:33 PM

I have eaten birthday cakes that have had their candles blown out by the honoree all my life!

For Pete's sake, some of you must be related to Howard Hughes.

by Anonymousreply 13March 20, 2023 10:34 PM

That’s slander, R13!!

No I don’t eat spit cake. But I always wear my Kleenex box slippers when I take the Spruce Goose out for a jaunt.

by Anonymousreply 14March 20, 2023 10:38 PM

How about you allow me to blow-fart your candles out next year?

by Anonymousreply 15March 20, 2023 10:40 PM

Save your pee, r14!

by Anonymousreply 16March 20, 2023 10:41 PM

Duh, R16. I use it to fuel the Spruce Goose.

And as an aperitif.

by Anonymousreply 17March 20, 2023 10:43 PM

If it's your family/friends, who cares if they blow out their candles.

If it's for a larger group like a child's party or work or acquaintances only, I wouldn't do candles, or maybe 2 of those big ones with the numbers on them and use a snuffer to put them out.

by Anonymousreply 18March 20, 2023 10:45 PM

I was party to a couple of COVID birthday gatherings.

At one the hostess handed the guest of honor one of those huge, old fashioned fireplace bellows to blow out the candles.

A couple of other times there was a main cake and then a single cupcake with candles for the singing.

by Anonymousreply 19March 20, 2023 10:47 PM

I suggested to friends and family that we didn't return to blowing out candles post-COVID, but they accused me of being a killjoy.

by Anonymousreply 20March 20, 2023 10:48 PM

That's why we just have the youngest person in attendance just pee the candles out!

It's also a form of witchcraft. So please be sure to inform the evangelicals in your lives, at their next birthday event.

[quote]I used to fart on the food that left my kitchen

I still do.

by Anonymousreply 24March 20, 2023 11:28 PM

At least you know the person blowing out the candles. Some person you don't know baked the cake, decorated the cake and boxed the cake up. People talk while they work, when you talk, small bits of spittle fly out of your mouth and land on the food your preparing.

by Anonymousreply 25March 21, 2023 12:51 AM

This is the kind of screwball thread that makes DL great.
