Why didn't Moira Kelly have a bigger career?
I'm finding it hard to believe such a beautiful, captivating young woman's potential was unrealized. The only thing most people know her from was The Cutting Edge (1992). She was absolutely perfect in the role, but none of her other work made any kind of mark culturally.
Hers was an intelligent beauty. This type of look was still marketable in the 1990s, as audiences weren't as lobotomized as they are today. So I'm just puzzled as to why she wasn't a bigger deal, when other actresses with less to offer were.

She is actually really good in the scene when she says Doug was right that she has always been the problem.

She was the poor man's Meredith Salenger.

Or was it the poor man's Megan Follows?

I remember first seeing her in a TV movie "Loves, Lies and Murder" playing Cinnamon Brown, based on a true story of a man who coerced his 14 year old daughter to kill her stepmother so he could collect her life insurance payout. (Also starred Clancy Brown). This TV mini-series has remained memorable to me because at the time I didn't realize people could be that twisted and cold-hearted in the pursuit of money (I was still young and naive) and also I thought she did a pretty decent job with the role.
I did see her in Cutting Edge, and really thought she was poised for a bigger career, but it never seemed to pan out. Maybe she chose family? Seems she's still working though, she has some recent projects listed on her IMDB.

Um, hello! She was the voice of Nala in THE LION KING (1994).

If I recall, she was raised very religious. Catholic, I think. I remember reading that she often confided in her priest whenever she took on roles.

Though I never watched the show, she was on One Tree Hill for 90 episodes. I recall the show being fairly popular for teenagers at the time.

She was also in Chaplin. …. It was a shame that she was such a SPLAT as Mandy in West Wing. She was supposed to have that Hepburn / Tracy thing wis Bradley W - Josh Lyman. They wound up having tepid chemistry on camera. But then his scenes with Donna had the zing. They didn’t even mention that Mandy left.

R7 Moira also did the sequel "Simba's Pride,' which was direct-to-video but was a huge bestseller and also sold a ton of merchandise as if it were a theatrical release.

Who, in turn, was the downmarket, suburban version of Ally Sheedy.

She looks like the love child of Benicio del Toro & Olivia Hussey in that OP link. And not in a good way.

She was more believably innocent than Lara as Donna. Lara always has that hothead thing going underneath, which some might say makes her Donna more interesting.

Her character on season one of The West Wing was so unremarkable and unmemorable that she vanished without a trace during the summer hiatus and none of the other characters took notice. What did she do to piss off Sorkin?

Some of you guys are so gay! Moira was a favorite among straight guys in the '90s. Many still find her '90s look delectable.

So I did a Google search and just typed in her name. That's all. No questions about job performance or her future in politics. Well, there is a shitload of articles and interviews on this very topic on-line and the negative far outweighs the positive when it comes to her approval rating, job performance, and whether Biden should dump her. Read them for yourselves cousins. Weep if you must. But her future is looking dark and cloudy.

She looks rather blah. I can't imagine straight guys lusting over her when girls like Jennifer Connelly were around.

I remember her. She grew up tap dancing or clog dancing with her Irish family. I’m surprised she wasn’t higher too-she has that Natalie Portman Winona thing.
