Colin Kaepernick Slams White Adoptive Parents in Book: "I Know My Parents Loved me, BUT..."

Are you shocked again? It's been a few years!

POS.

by Anonymousreply 1March 10, 2023 5:17 PM

Race relations are never going to get better.

by Anonymousreply 2March 10, 2023 5:19 PM

RacistLounge

by Anonymousreply 3March 10, 2023 5:19 PM

Where's the racism, R3/knee-jerk cunt? Apart from Kaepernick's statement, that is.

by Anonymousreply 4March 10, 2023 5:23 PM

It's gonna take 150 years for blacks and whites to get along again.

by Anonymousreply 5March 10, 2023 5:23 PM

They couldn’t be so bad. They raised his sexy, successful ass. Adoptive kids go through a lot of changes and social complexes especially when they are biracial. I hope this brother gets the help he needs and experiments with me in the bed.

by Anonymousreply 6March 10, 2023 5:25 PM

I say the first half of that comment five times a week.

"I know my mother loves me, BUT she's terrible."

"I know my parents wanted me, BUT I wish I'd been born with money."

"I know my mother loves me, BUT she makes a weak-ass martini."

by Anonymousreply 7March 10, 2023 5:27 PM

OP is clickbaiting. But racism is such a strong word he should have used a lesser word to convey their bias. He didn’t really slam them though; just revealed some truths.

by Anonymousreply 8March 10, 2023 5:28 PM

Modern western society is sooooo fucking lame and boring.

by Anonymousreply 9March 10, 2023 5:33 PM

I tried to watch his documentary series, but what a self obsessed stupid wanker.

by Anonymousreply 10March 10, 2023 5:37 PM

Triggered white people are triggered.

by Anonymousreply 11March 10, 2023 5:43 PM

No, R11, triggered black (or, rather, mixed-race) people are triggered. This is about Kaepernick's moaning.

by Anonymousreply 12March 10, 2023 5:45 PM

Real bio daddy probably bailed the minute white baby momma told him she was knocked up but the adoptive parents are the bad guys? Only in America!

by Anonymousreply 13March 10, 2023 6:03 PM

If privately funded combines can't get you back into the NFL after 7 years, surely a race-baiting graphic novel will.

by Anonymousreply 14March 10, 2023 6:16 PM

[quote] OP is clickbaiting.

Oh, bullshit. It's a CNN article.

by Anonymousreply 15March 10, 2023 6:19 PM

His pr team is going for the Meghan and Harry strategy. Big mistake, because it looks even more pathetic when a man does it. I feel bad for him, because he didn't deserve to have his nfl career end so quickly for something that isn't even a big deal anymore after 5 years.

by Anonymousreply 16March 10, 2023 6:37 PM

I don't feel sorry for him in the least. He had several opportunities to return to football, but rejected them when he found out that he would not immediately be installed as the starter, even after a few years of being away from the game. Fuck him. What happened to him was unfortunate, but it is his fault for not having the competitive spirit and resorting to whining.

by Anonymousreply 17March 10, 2023 6:56 PM

Is he Black? Mixed Race? Middle easterner?

by Anonymousreply 18March 10, 2023 6:57 PM

His dad is Middle Eastern. His mom is white. I think his father is Muslim.

by Anonymousreply 19March 10, 2023 7:00 PM

He looks exactly like an Arab guy at my gym, and that guy is a homophobe beyond belief.

by Anonymousreply 20March 10, 2023 7:03 PM

Genetic Dad is from Ghana.

White genetic mother is Heidi Russo who was 19.

Apparently his real parents ( the adoptive ones) totally stand by him and are “very proud “ of Colin.

He doesn’t have a drop of black in him. Not one.

by Anonymousreply 22March 10, 2023 7:10 PM

Non-white kids adopted by white parents often have a period of lashing out against them, even if the parents were good parents. The kid grows up identifying as white, then realizes slowly over time he or she can never be white, and gets really angry. Then they usually reconcile with the parents because they realize the parents (usually) did the best they could with the kid, and are their parents no matter what.

Usually this happens when someone is 17-25. It's weird it's happening so late in his life.

What's also weird about Kaepernick is he never really distinguished himself on the gridiron as a professional player--was he ever even a starter for very long? he got attention almost entirely for his politics and for being (moderately) attractive.

by Anonymousreply 23March 10, 2023 7:17 PM

He’s 40 years old. ^

by Anonymousreply 24March 10, 2023 7:20 PM

So he's not even black, why did black movement get behind him?

by Anonymousreply 25March 10, 2023 7:59 PM

R25 He's Black enough, grandpa.

by Anonymousreply 26March 10, 2023 9:11 PM

R25 Just like that useless cunt Kamela Harris.

by Anonymousreply 27March 11, 2023 12:13 AM

Klan Grannies have arrived. They didn’t give them their nightly dosage yet? Must live on West Coast time.

by Anonymousreply 28March 11, 2023 12:17 AM

R28 How is it racist? He isn't even black.

by Anonymousreply 29March 11, 2023 12:56 AM

R29 His dad is black. By your logic Obama wasn’t the first black president. I am also caramel and golden brown. White powerful racist people created the one drop rule and any black parent giving birth to black children. You white hos benefit from it from the legacy of slavery. Please pick up a history book.

by Anonymousreply 30March 11, 2023 12:59 AM

R15: CNN just means its stupid, not necessarily biased

by Anonymousreply 31March 11, 2023 12:59 AM

Colin sounds like an utter prick.

by Anonymousreply 32March 11, 2023 1:09 AM

You don’t know that R30, and anyone with two brain cells and two eyeballs can see he is not black. And a black man with a multi-million dollar, famous son would certainly be around, and constantly trying to get money somehow.

by Anonymousreply 33March 11, 2023 1:11 AM

He’s handsome and he’s Black. And he was unjustly barred from football. But I don’t think he be critical of his parents in public.

by Anonymousreply 34March 11, 2023 1:11 AM

Colin is just like Prince Harry.

by Anonymousreply 35March 11, 2023 1:13 AM

He’s Osama.

by Anonymousreply 36March 11, 2023 1:14 AM

Tacky.

by Anonymousreply 37March 11, 2023 1:16 AM

R33 Bitch you cannot tell me shit about what it means to be black. Shut the fuck. And then fuck up again. Is Harry Belafante not black. Terrence Howard? Shemar Moore? Jussie Smollet?

by Anonymousreply 38March 11, 2023 1:18 AM

by Anonymousreply 40March 11, 2023 1:20 AM

The intellectual discourse has dissipated. I’m gone.

by Anonymousreply 41March 11, 2023 1:20 AM

Changing his name to Colin X anytime soon?

by Anonymousreply 42March 11, 2023 1:20 AM

He's abusive towards his parents. I hope they have a good support system.

by Anonymousreply 43March 11, 2023 1:23 AM

Fuck this guy.

by Anonymousreply 44March 11, 2023 1:25 AM

He has always been a narcissistic idiot whose ego doesn’t match his intelligence or skill. He played up his blackness purely for attention and victimhood (ahem just like Markle) while doing jackshit for other black people. This is a foul thing to do to his parents because he’s be absolutely nothing without them he’d be gutter trash.

by Anonymousreply 45March 11, 2023 1:30 AM

“Those become spaces where it’s like, ‘How do I navigate this situation now?’ But it also has informed why I have my hair long today.”

Merits of the issue aside, I really hate this kind of addled identity politics jargon.

by Anonymousreply 46March 11, 2023 1:31 AM

Someone posted here years ago, probably 10, who worked for the NFL (during the AR/KL heyday), and said Colin was awful to work with. Unbelievably arrogant. Not at all like the “I play for my city” persona he gave off. He mentioned something about his kissing his biceps, but I can’t remember. They don’t post here anymore.

by Anonymousreply 47March 11, 2023 1:36 AM

To prove how black he is, he always wears what he thinks are traditional African outfits whenever he walks a red carpet.

by Anonymousreply 48March 11, 2023 1:42 AM

He’s Talcom X. ^ You ever wonder why he doesn’t do any of those DNA test shows? Because he knows better. He knows where his bread is buttered.

by Anonymousreply 49March 11, 2023 1:43 AM

White people created scientific racism. With the incredible innovations Western civilization has made said people now expect us to be mum about it. Reap what you sow.

by Anonymousreply 50March 11, 2023 1:43 AM

I looooove eating my poop.

by Anonymousreply 51March 11, 2023 1:46 AM

He’s a shit head. Way to throw his parents under the bus.

by Anonymousreply 52March 11, 2023 1:49 AM

I admire him and stand by him.

by Anonymousreply 53March 11, 2023 2:01 AM

His Muslim father knocked up a white teen then split. She gave him up. A lovely white couple wanted a child and he was given the gift of a family. He should use his hatred on the scumbag Muslim cunt who couldn’t keep his cock in his pants and the white whore teen who gave him up. He’s a racist asshole who wouldn’t have this recognition it wasn’t for his luck in being chosen! Ungrateful fake black.

by Anonymousreply 54March 11, 2023 3:07 AM

Adopted children can be handled the same way as biological children.

by Anonymousreply 55March 11, 2023 3:21 AM

I’ve never heard he was biologically Muslim. I don’t think that’s accurate. It’s extra sad for the adoptive parents because they lost two sons to a genetic disease.

by Anonymousreply 56March 11, 2023 3:28 AM

Why doesn't he talk to them about this privately? Why air out these grievances in public?

by Anonymousreply 57March 11, 2023 5:20 AM

I think Colin has suffered one too many concussions.

Let’s put it this way… if Colin were not a football player, then he’d be in and out of jail. Being raised by white parents will not raise the the child’s IQ significantly, the child’s IQ is going to be more correlated with the biological parents’ IQ.

by Anonymousreply 58March 11, 2023 6:04 AM

[quote] I’ve never heard he was biologically Muslim.

Allah is hoping Colin's cock is cut.

by Anonymousreply 59March 11, 2023 7:14 AM

by Anonymousreply 62March 11, 2023 7:42 AM

He seems like such an ungrateful asshole. All these people support him and he still treats them like shit. I guarantee something nasty about him will come out.

by Anonymousreply 63March 11, 2023 8:09 AM

You guys are assholes.

He’s 100% right.

White people typically are racist and carry racist ideas.

It doesn’t matter if they adopt a black kid either. It doesn’t matter if they are in interracial marriages.

It does not stop the idea of white superiority. Whites think they’re better than everyone and always like to explain why.

by Anonymousreply 64March 11, 2023 8:11 AM

yet I don't have to explain why I feel superior to r64

by Anonymousreply 65March 11, 2023 8:14 AM

Should have been aborted.

by Anonymousreply 66March 11, 2023 8:20 AM

r65, nobody is superior to r64

by Anonymousreply 67March 11, 2023 8:23 AM

And guaranteed those White parents, in today's racially charged society, will be out flagellating themselves publicly for 'failing' him.

"He was better off where he was! We're guilty of White supremacy. We're monsters!"

by Anonymousreply 68March 11, 2023 8:26 AM

R23 That’s your dumb ass white interpretation.

It’s the white parents fault from stripping the child of their knowledge of their culture and identity. A lot make no efforts to help the kids with their identity and the kids struggle.

They ignore that the child is black.

I’m biracial and lived in a white area with about 3 black adopted kids and this was the issue.

There was a girl in my school adopted by who’re parents who used to watch that stupid movie “Hardball” with Keanu Reeves. She was obsessed with that movie. It was probably the only thing she came close to with blackness. It was very sad.

Kids used to make fun of her and say her full white adoptive brother was more black than her because he was a “wigger”.

So you’re wrong. Adopted kids aren’t resentful because they’re not white, they’re resentful because they’re black and being raised white.

by Anonymousreply 69March 11, 2023 8:26 AM

I'd bet cash money that people like r64 use multiple accounts to bring out the racists on DL, pretending to be a white-hating black person in some accounts, then acting like a white supremacist with other accounts. Attmay used to do that so I'm sure people who are equally shitty yet less mentally afflicted do the same.

by Anonymousreply 70March 11, 2023 8:29 AM

R70 Oh please. The anti-black racism on this board is sickening and it’s people like you that are making this site not worth paying for.

You Klan Grannies have turned this site into 4Chan.

by Anonymousreply 71March 11, 2023 8:33 AM

You can never love somebody else's child the way you love your own.

by Anonymousreply 72March 11, 2023 8:33 AM

If you love your parents, talk to them about this. Instead, he told the world that his parents were racists.

by Anonymousreply 73March 11, 2023 8:35 AM

r58 I had a similar, but inverse, experience as an adoptee. My biological mother was (and is) very smart (a professionally tested IQ that the tester said was the highest he'd ever encountered). But she struggled with serious mental illness and addition since she was a teenager, and never did much with it. My birthfather is probably of average intelligence.

My adopted parents are good people, but not intellectual or academically inclined at all. They're also of average intelligence. They valued education in a stereotypically middle brow American way, that is, as a way to maintain social status and get a decent job. I myself ended up earning a PhD, which I probably wouldn't have done if I'd been raised in my biological family. In a sense, my adopted parents nurtured my genetic intelligence, if only indirectly by providing financial stability and decent schools.

Related to the topic of this thread, being adopted creates a whole set of issues that are poorly understood to anyone who is not adopted, and I feel sorry for Colin on some level. (Transracial adoptees face their own challenges.) But he is too old to be acting out like this, and the fact he's doing it in public is even more cringeworthy.

by Anonymousreply 74March 11, 2023 8:35 AM

^^^ addiction

by Anonymousreply 75March 11, 2023 8:36 AM

R45 is speaking pure facts

by Anonymousreply 76March 11, 2023 8:44 AM

Why is it so hard to believe that his parents are racists? It's pretty awful to tell a kid that his hair makes him look like a thug

I highly doubt that back in the day a couple of white people from Wisconsin understood what it was like for him and how his hair is tied to his identity. He did say that they love him so maybe they've tried to learn and understand since then.

by Anonymousreply 77March 11, 2023 9:35 AM

The identity of his biological father is unknown. He probably made it up that his father is African to make himself look cool.

I agree, he looks like an Arab. There is nothing African American about him.

by Anonymousreply 78March 11, 2023 9:56 AM

We know they're not racists, r77, because racists don't adopt children of other ethnicities.

by Anonymousreply 79March 11, 2023 10:03 AM

That's no black man, that's a fucking ARAB

by Anonymousreply 84March 11, 2023 11:08 AM

I wonder if he has ever voted? He was a complete shit during the 2016 election about how Trump and Hillary were "Equally bad" to people of color.

And afterwards he preeningly told an interviewer that he had "No regrets" in not voting.

Stacey Abrams should beat his arrogant ass.

by Anonymousreply 85March 11, 2023 11:13 AM

[quote]I wonder if he has ever voted?

by Anonymousreply 86March 11, 2023 11:14 AM

Is he very very stupid and has drunk some kind of strong woke mind control potion?

He's still hot, though - that's really what's most important.

by Anonymousreply 94March 11, 2023 11:54 AM

by Anonymousreply 95March 11, 2023 11:54 AM

R93 that is.

by Anonymousreply 96March 11, 2023 11:54 AM

Possibly mixed-race Arab and white, R93. The US Census considers Arabs white, so that would make him fully white for such purposes, I believe. In any case, I'm sure that any information regarding his paternity is being kept secret for a reason.

by Anonymousreply 97March 11, 2023 12:01 PM

TBH I dont give a shit what his racial profile is, I'd still let him fuck me anytime he wanted AND I'd do anything he wanted me to. You bitches are worried about the thing, that dick is probably FANTASTIC!

by Anonymousreply 121March 11, 2023 1:03 PM

Who the hell keeps saying Colin isn’t black? He got a DNA test that’s why we know his father is Ghanaian / Nigerian / Ivorian which means he was a black American because of the mix.

Not all black and biracial people have the same features. Biracial mixes can look all black, all white, Latino, and even middle Eastern.

The hatred towards Colin by whites isn’t even bothersome. They despised Martin Luther King Jr when he was alive too. They’re always wrong in the present when it comes to race so their opinion doesn’t matter.

by Anonymousreply 122March 11, 2023 1:04 PM

by Anonymousreply 131March 11, 2023 1:17 PM

R128 More white ignorance.

He’s not saying he hates his parents and that they’re bad people.

He’s saying they’re racist.

You, as a white person, identify that as the worst thing in the world to be called. Or one of the worst things to be.

How many gay people have homophobic parents but love them? You can understand homophobia but racism goes right the fuck over your head.

by Anonymousreply 132March 11, 2023 1:21 PM

R129 They still think they own black people.

by Anonymousreply 135March 11, 2023 1:28 PM

R133 et all is all over this site calling gays here “klan grannies”, some misogyny, and a lot of anti-white rhetoric. Just FYI.

[quote] More white ignorance. He’s not saying he hates his parents and that they’re bad people. He’s saying they’re racist.

R132 Kaepernick has tarred his parents, who've done nothing but raise and love him, with the brush of social censure/condemnation. That IS saying his parents are bad people in American society.

He should be ashamed.

R122, source for CP doing a DNA test to find out his biological father's ethnic identity??

I don't believe for a second he's part black African, he's full on North African or Middle Eastern.

Growing an afro was to disguise his true ethnicity so he could pretend he's African American. He's a hateful, toxic egoist a stupid moron and a chaos agent.

Apologies to R102. In R138's image Kaepernick looks like he's from the Atlas in Morocco aka Berber.

by Anonymousreply 142March 11, 2023 1:40 PM

He's disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 143March 11, 2023 1:43 PM

I think if it comes out that Kaepernick is not black, will it make a difference living in a post-transgender world where people can claim to be whatever and whomever they want with no biological evidence at all? Of course that raises ethical and moral questions.

by Anonymousreply 144March 11, 2023 1:44 PM

He didn’t say his parents were bad people. He just disagreed with them regarding his choice of hairstyle. He was right.

by Anonymousreply 145March 11, 2023 1:47 PM

R145 You are quibbling, justifying his deplorable behavior. In American culture, calling someone racist signifies that the person is bad. As he shamefully did to his parents.

by Anonymousreply 146March 11, 2023 1:52 PM

They did the best they knew how to do. Apparently, they did ok considering his talent & career.

Yes, the USA is a racist country. Earth is a racist planet.

But the USA is the only planet on earth that can correct itself. We changed the American constitution. And eventually, a country that was built on the back of slaves, lawfully elected a black president — twice.

We are not perfect. But at least we can keep trying.

The civil war was our bloodiest & most brutal. Hundreds of thousands of white men died to end slavery.

As Bill Clinton once said, “there’s nothing wrong with America that what’s right with America can’t fix.”

Jessie Jackson urged us to keep hope alive.

We must respond to our higher angels. Else we are on the same level of Trump.

As a side not, I have a friend for the past 35 years who is half Portuguese and half Lebanese, with slightly darker skin (as even Italians do). She does not identify as 'black' in any way (nor does her extended family of relatives) and to suggest something different to her will anger her to no end. She lives in a neighborhood predominately made up of Portuguese and Cape Verdean immigrants since the turn of the 20th Century. Many of the residents are black - dark black - but don't ever call them 'Black'. They are 'Portuguese' and 'Cape Verdean'. Never, ever 'Black'.

R187 I love how he needed to take a DNA test to learn he was half-Black, as if being Black in America isn't something one is almost constantly reminded of being. And it wasn't until after this point that he decided to learn about African culture on its own. He genuinely didn't know Africa was its own continent with thousands of tribes, hundreds of languages, and a longer history of human habitation than any other continent? I guess we can thank the Ancestry corporate drones for teaching this fool about that when he was 35.

I'm sure that happened a lot in Turlock CA where he was raised - there are very few blacks. But now, Colin has ruined his parents' reputation. Way to go, idiot.

Man writes autobiography at the invitation of a publisher. Man, per contract, writes about his life. His life included a (fairly common) situation faced by black/multiracial children adopted into white families. He includes it, while still expressing gratitude.

A troll who was neither invited (nor particularly encouraged), fulminates at length that an elderly straight couple from Wisconsin is not getting the deference they deserve. On a website for gay men.

by Anonymousreply 218March 12, 2023 11:26 AM

R216 is complete idiot. This human twat proclaimed his own parents, who never molested him or insulted him and did their best to raise him, to be racist, because of an innocent remark. Most parents have said far worse things to us than "get a haircut, you look like a thug".

Is it straight white people posting all this shit?

I can't believe anybody QUEER (trigger trigger trigger) would have a hard time understanding parents who say they love you, but they actually don't.

So, if you're part of the "alphabet," what a hypocrite you must be to take this man to task because he speaks the truth.

And I love how all it takes to be a good parent is not to rape or beat your child. Pretty low bar there.

Just like I'm never going to have a straight friend again, I'm not going to have a white friend again.

To quote the anti-trans asshole who always says "YOU SOUND EXHAUSTING!"

Straight people and white people aren't worth the effort if you are neither of those things.

by Anonymousreply 221March 12, 2023 11:38 AM

by Anonymousreply 222March 12, 2023 11:44 AM

R223 We all took offense at many things our parents said. I believe that even the best parents have sometimes hurt their child with some notion. Ideal families who always say nicest things to each other exist only in American soap operas.

But the problem with this POS is that he, not only made it political, but accused them of something that is at the moment one of the most severe and dangerous and politically hot accusations, the one of racism. His did not mind to put these people in some serious trouble, just to get some attention. And not because they were molesting him while shouting racist slurs at him, but because of making some innocent remark about the haircut. R69 you stupid bitch, read with some attention and comprehension.

If he stayed in his biological family he would have been raise in "white culture" too, because he was born to a single white teenage mother fathered by an unknown POC man. His mother won't tell and maybe doesn't even know who his father is.

So if he was not given away he would have been raised by white mother and her white parents and wouldn't know his POC family.

Same things happens to many biracial kids born to single white mothers, or who were abandoned by their black father, the situation that frequently happens.

Obama was raised by white grandparents, he had no connections with his father or his African family. Come to think, Obama's grandparents were old generation, raised before the age of political correctness and they probably could have said things that would be considered problematic in over sensitive modern culture. But, can you imagine Obama being vile piece of shit, saying nasty thing about people who obviously loved him and raised him well. Of course you can't.

[quote] He chose to learn about his African ancestry, then decided to identify with it. Is that wrong?

In the last decade, I’ve discovered that I have Welsh blood, and that is proving very important to my evolving sense of ancestral belonging and identity. I’ve even moved to Wales, learnt some Welsh, started supporting Welsh national sports teams, and have taken up a Welsh spiritual path. Exploring this other dimension to my lineage is bringing me cultural richness as well as closer connection to a lost family.

All that doesn’t and won’t make me full Cymry, though, no matter how nice that might be. Because I’m still partly English, still moreso English, speaking technically and legally. I look hopelessly Saes, I speak English, my mother’s family are English, I went to schools in England (on the border with Wales where Welsh was taught in a few year groups, but still). Though temptation is sometimes there, I won’t just cherry-pick what is more interesting or unusual out of my whole identity and decide I’m one thing or another to the exclusion of all else, as that is deeply inauthentic.

Plus, though the rest of the world may disagree in the present Zeitgeist, I’m not ashamed to be English too—the English have in history created and effected some remarkable and wonderful things, as well as some awful things (just..not lately). It’s embarrassing to be English at the moment, but no more (perhaps less) than being white American or Ch!nese or Russ!an. We are a curious, proud, resilient and magical nationality, I do believe, and no amount of chagrin or hardship will alter that.

Perhaps if we embraced dual identities without so much sociopolitical quibbling, people who are biracial and mixed-ethnicity/nationality wouldn’t feel or experience so much stigma and angst and confusion over the fact. Perhaps we could even celebrate it.

At least, I hope we may. It looks like my sister may have a mixed-race and mixed-nationality child, an English-Welsh-Egyptian—imagine! I would like to see a world where that child and society may embrace all parts of his or her self with ease and joy and interest.

by Anonymousreply 236March 12, 2023 12:56 PM

I am from a mixed race family myself and we went through a similar controversy. My older brother kept his hair cut short most of his life, but he decided to grow it out one year. My mother always had something shady to say whenever she'd see a black person with a huge afro in public or on TV ("it looks dirty," "they need to do something with it"). So needless to say she did not take well to my brother's new change, always saying how "awful" he looked. She didn't say it to his face, but behind his back to other family members.

Then he decided to get locs to "be authentically himself" and because it was the way "people who look him wore theirs for thousands of years." She completely flipped out and felt like he was trying to deny her as his mother by shutting out his white side completely. And I actually in high school, I let my hair grow out for a year so it was very big and curly, and she would tell me "you need a haircut" at least one or two times daily. But I didn't care. I felt it was the best I ever looked at the time.

Anyone who thinks he could pass for white either needs to have their eyes examined or doesn't know any white people.

by Anonymousreply 238March 12, 2023 4:15 PM

He looks like that Khalid person.

by Anonymousreply 239March 12, 2023 4:25 PM

He's one of the most overrated 'celebrities' out there and the fact that sone quarters consider him a civil rights hero is a joke. He's worked his kneeling into a second career. He certainly never apologized about his arrogant anti-voting stance when Stacy Abrams worked her ass off getting African-Americans to vote to save this country from a second Trump administration.

He's a fraud. He proves if you're a "sports hero" you can coast on bullshit forever.

So many triggered white peoples.

by Anonymousreply 242March 12, 2023 4:41 PM

So many racist black people.

by Anonymousreply 243March 12, 2023 4:41 PM

No, so many anti-white white gay male progressives. This site is 99.9% white and gay. And hard left.

by Anonymousreply 244March 12, 2023 4:44 PM

You have white gay males who speak “black”, and what’s worse, is that these are 55+ year olds doing, mostly.

by Anonymousreply 245March 12, 2023 4:45 PM

[quote] This site is 99.9% white and gay. And hard left.

[quote] You have white gay males who speak “black”, and what’s worse, is that these are 55+ year olds doing, mostly.

You're assuming, based on your own biases and agenda.

by Anonymousreply 246March 12, 2023 4:48 PM

Based on the countless demographic polls over the decades here, sorry. ^

by Anonymousreply 247March 12, 2023 4:50 PM

R237 - show me depictions of black people in history with dreadlocks for thousands of years.

I think there needs to be a distinction here - most men hairstyles are short and not overly done, no matter what the race. Your mom could be reacting to that - not the style itself.

Any white, asian or latino guy who grows his hair long will be told that it isn't professional and I would venture that most of their parents HATE the long hair.

Look around any business - how many long haired non-black males do you see? Zero. Unless it's some alternative business and he's the owner.

And yet - long hair (or fucking wigs) is how most men wore their hair for thousands of years.

It's not necessarily RACIST just because it's a reaction to a hairstyle.

by Anonymousreply 248March 12, 2023 4:57 PM

R247 Polls are notoriously subjective. Depends on who commissioned to poll, who asked the questions and how the questions were phrased, and who compiled the data. Giving credence to the results of polls on an anonymous forum is absurd.

by Anonymousreply 249March 12, 2023 4:57 PM

Okiedokie, you win. ^

Back to this thread.

by Anonymousreply 250March 12, 2023 4:59 PM

R250 It's not about winning. It's about reasoned, adult discussion.

by Anonymousreply 251March 12, 2023 5:00 PM

What's up with the marxist shills in this thread pretending what he said isn't racist? Do you really lack brains?

by Anonymousreply 252March 12, 2023 5:01 PM

Congratulations to R28 for the most idiotic post on this thread.

Quite a feat.

by Anonymousreply 253March 12, 2023 5:17 PM

He's so obviously mixed race. He's got a big honking Arab nose. Nigerian /Ghanan roots or not there's North African/Middle Eastern DNA involved. He just didn't mention that part of his Ancestry profile.

by Anonymousreply 254March 12, 2023 5:26 PM

I wanna see his other big honker

by Anonymousreply 255March 12, 2023 6:06 PM

Is he supposed to be Black? He looks more Persian or North African to me.

… but, I am a bigot.

by Anonymousreply 257March 12, 2023 7:38 PM

R256 He is mixed. The blackness is watered down by his white genes.

by Anonymousreply 258March 12, 2023 8:28 PM

If I'd known his biological mother when she was pregnant I would have shouted, 'BRING ME A KNITTING NEEDLE".

by Anonymousreply 259March 12, 2023 8:38 PM

Biologically Muslim, lol

He's monotheistic in his DNA! But the wrong kind!!

by Anonymousreply 260March 12, 2023 10:20 PM

That person has an agenda, R260.

by Anonymousreply 261March 12, 2023 10:22 PM

Mostly (maybe entirely) white fags posting on here.

by Anonymousreply 262March 13, 2023 7:09 PM

r231, he kind of did in his 1995 Rev. Wright speech...

I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

^ Sorry, 2008 speech

by Anonymousreply 264March 13, 2023 7:52 PM

Thank you R263. I kept Obama in higher regard, but then, wasn't he the guy who bombed Middle east to oblivion, why wouldn't he badmouth his old nan.

by Anonymousreply 265March 13, 2023 7:55 PM

In fact, Obama was and is a hard core grifter too, that is why Wall Street decided he would be the first black president.

I guess all of our grandparents said, even unconsciously, homophobic stuff, every woman knows that her grsndparents said sexist thing. Those were different days. And I believe that any black granny said stereotypes about white people.

Obama is an asshole to badmouth her in front of the whole world, she was an ordinary woman, not some progressive activist. This is what she got for taking him when his parents abandoned him. Should have sent him to African grandparents.

by Anonymousreply 266March 13, 2023 8:09 PM

What's his problem? It's not like his parents freaked out over wire hangers. Or made him eat raw meat. Or pruned the rose garden in the middle of the night.

by Anonymousreply 267March 13, 2023 8:44 PM

Why do we even have a thread where the main theme is debating whether a person is or is not a particular race? What difference does it make? Are there opinions being formed about other human beings based on their physical appearance? Are people (black or brown or yellow or white or whatever) being assigned categories and treated differently because of their assigned category? Do you realize how ridiculous that is?

by Anonymousreply 268March 13, 2023 9:49 PM

R268 We have had plenty of similar threads before. Mixed People Who Look White, White People Who Look Mixed, and I even remember one asking why almost all Black people have brown eyes and white people have eyes of many colors.

by Anonymousreply 269March 13, 2023 10:06 PM

[quote]What difference does it make?

Because you have a celebrity, making money, exploiting others, pretending to be something he isn’t.

by Anonymousreply 270March 13, 2023 10:12 PM

R268 Is obviously white adjacent.

by Anonymousreply 271March 13, 2023 10:23 PM

These people saying he's not black apparently don't know Ghana is a country in West Africa.

by Anonymousreply 272March 13, 2023 10:28 PM

[quote]Because you have a celebrity, making money, exploiting others, pretending to be something he isn’t.

People only get exploited if they allow it to happen.

[quote]We have had plenty of similar threads before. Mixed People Who Look White, White People Who Look Mixed, and I even remember one asking why almost all Black people have brown eyes and white people have eyes of many colors.

And did any of those "plenty of similar threads" result in anything positive, or just more back and forth debating with racist undertones from all sides? People need to grow the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 274March 13, 2023 10:43 PM

[quote]People only get exploited if they allow it to happen.

We live in immoral, unethical times.

by Anonymousreply 275March 13, 2023 10:44 PM

R274 Also, white adjacent.

And you wonder why Jussie arranged this "racist" attack on him. If the president of US can be victim of his own grandma's racism, why couldn't Jussie be the victim of Nigerian white supremacists.

by Anonymousreply 279March 14, 2023 6:49 AM

R277, this is the first time I’ve heard of this…😍😲

by Anonymousreply 280March 14, 2023 2:41 PM

R278 is, at the very least, ugly inside and likely single.....fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 281March 14, 2023 4:34 PM

R272 has obviously never seen a Ghanaian.

I live in Africa. No Black African for a second would consider Colin a black man.

by Anonymousreply 282March 16, 2023 1:33 PM

He should go down the Smollett Lie Road next. Just do some better selection of cohorts.

His adoptive parents are saints on camera to put up with his shite. Wonder how they really feel about this ungrateful, moaning wretch.

Adoption agencies must just love that he has put white people adopting children of color back to the dark ages.

In Websters he appears as the poser boy for thirsty attention seeking ho.

by Anonymousreply 283March 16, 2023 1:44 PM

[quote]He proves if you're a "sports hero" you can coast on bullshit forever.

And the quotation marks are well applied, as he was in steep decline as a player during his last three seasons in the NFL. He had two good seasons. In fairness, he had a great team around him in 2012-13, which stopped being the case. So, he was probably not quite as bad as he looked in 2014, 2015, and 2016, but also never as good as he looked in 2012 and 2013.

I know his public position is that he badly wants to return to playing football, but I've always doubted it. I can't see the upside for him in returning. If he never plays again, he's a courageous figure who was willing to sacrifice his career for his convictions. This view is one held by many people who don't follow football and can name two NFL players of the 21st century, Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick, and think they're equally significant and good, which is a little like thinking Cate Blanchett and Kate Hudson are equally accomplished actresses.

If he returns, he's an aging ex-player ten years away from his last good season, with an injury history. If he plays badly, as he almost surely would, there goes the narrative. The things he's doing with his time that aren't football are lucrative and not as risky.

I don't think it's accidental that every time there's been a glimmer of him getting a job in football, something has thrown a wrench in it: his girlfriend posts something inflammatory, or he praises Castro (which didn't go over big in Miami, for obvious reasons), or he changes the location of his workout for team scouts at the last minute, or he makes it known that he wants more money than he could possibly get. (That's what happened when the XFL expressed interest. He wanted $20 million. They can't pay anyone that.)
