Do you keep these in the cabinet with the regular bread or is it better to refrigerate these? I don’t think I’ve ever bought English muffins in my adult life but for some reason remember my mother always keeping them in the fridge as a kid. I think she said English muffins tended to get very hard fast.

As soon as they come out of the oven, baked products start to go stale. Refrigeration retards the process. Freezing is even better if you want to keep half for even longer.

English Muffins do not need to be stored in the fridge if they will be consumer quickly. The cool temperature of the refrigerator does prevent mold growth, however, meaning they will last longer in the fridge.

Put the ones you do not plan on eating this week in a ziploc bag and put it in the freezer. Take them out one at a time an d let thaw 30 minutes before toasting.
Leave the rest in their original package at room temperature.

I completely split them in half with a fork or some other implement, and package each one in a Ziplock sandwich size bag. I put all the bagged separated muffins back into the original bag they came in, and put that in the freezer. Then, whenever I want an English muffin I can take one out of the freezer and toast it without struggling to separate it into halves -- which happens if you don't separate them before freezing. I use English muffins for two things. 1) Bacon, fried egg, and cheese sandwiches (AKA an egg McMuffin) or as the bun for a cheeseburger when I feel like a small slider-ish sized cheeseburger. I will occasionally eat one buttered with jam for breakfast, but not often.

The Bay's kind I keep in the refrigerator, the Thomas ones I don't put in the refrigerator. Either way, eat them now because they don't have a long shelf life. I never refrigerate my loaves of bread.
I love making my own Egg McMuffins with them. Also they are good for tuna melts, I put tuna (mixed with a little mayo or Miracle Whip) and a slice of cheese on top (the Kraft sliced cheese is actually good on them) and put them in the oven and then quickly under the broiler.
Jam or honey is yummy when I don't have much food in the house they are good for a dessert. For breakfast when I am in a hurry I sometimes just put a lot of butter on them and they are still good. Enjoy OP!

I just like them much better. Now as for bread, I have tried many different breads. I settled on Dave's Killer Bread, the multi grain version. Also tried Trader Joes Sprouted Wheat for a while. Publix has a very good multigrain. But then I sampled two loaves of multigrain bread from Costco's. It happened to be still warm from the oven. It was so good, and so fresh, I never went back to supermarket bread. But I did try Arnolds. Once. I found it inedible. Sorry for being long winded. My whole point is that Bimbo Bakeries is not synonymous with quality for me.

Can the person who keeps on bringing up Bays realize most of us who have had Bays weren’t impressed? We heard you the first 20 times. We get it. You like Bays. That’s your opinion to hold. But I don’t think they taste better. They taste like yeast and are saltier. Not for me.

I don't understand the overwhelming love for Dave's Killer Bread. I've had it a few times and (although I've never checked the ingredient list) it's so sweet to me (all kinds I've tried) that it tastes like they used corn syrup in it for sweetener. I actually threw out most of the loaves. And I'm a bread lover.
Thomas' are okay for me; I prefer the sourdough flavor. Never seen or heard of Bay's (I'm in NorCal), but I've had Trader Joe's and like them as well. We also have a local brand called Costeaux's that are pretty good. Overall, I prefer the sourdough flavor though. However, I recently tried TJ's whole wheat variety and they also were overtly sweet to me so gave them to my relative as she said she likes them. I'll stick with sourdough.

r93 I recently lost 14 lbs over the past 6-7 weeks. Although I'm still considered in the "overweight" zone for BMI, I'm only 8 lbs from being in the "normal" BMI zone. I don't eschew bread like so many people these days, but I don't eat a ton of it either. There are times I like to make a breakfast sandwich or have a half of an EM with my eggs and I don't find that something particularly unique about how a "fat" person eats. I've seen plenty of "normal" weight people eat bread as well as eat snack foods at night and drink soda (neither of which I do).

I found an unopened package of them in a cupboard once. They has expired about three years befoe, but you'd never know it. The texture and moisture and look were just like the ones sold at stores.

Never, EVER store bread in the fridge. Either keep it out and eat it for as long as it keeps or freeze it if you are going to toast it anyway, which would include muffins. Putting bread in the fridge dries it out and makes it stale and hard more quickly.
If you live in a hot climate, invest in an insulated cool box. Keep the bread in as airtight a package as possible and in the box. That will help keep the mould at bay.

If you're going to buy English muffins for storing in the fridge, OP, get Bays'. They're really good and pre-split very well -- plain and in sourdough versions, and sold in supermarkets' refrigerated sections normally near the eggs section. We used to find them only when we vacationed south in Florida in Publix Supermarkets, but now they have them even here in the Northeast. I used to think all these years that they had to be refrigerated, until recently one grocery store stocker here in Massachusetts was helping me locate them in the store and said the refrigeration thing is just a manufacturer promo gimmick, to make people think they're made differently than other English muffins and so they'll "keep" better while in the markets. Plus they're made with milk, and have a great flavor, toast up crunch, and have more of those nerdy nooks-and-crannies than Thomas's could ever claim to possess (>cue my "Mary" moment, I admit and apologize, lol).
