When did Wendy's become so expensive?

Almost $12 for a combo meal now!

I'm fine with paying $12 for a Wendy's combo. It's WAY better than McDonalds and maybe $4 more expensive.

by Anonymousreply 1March 3, 2023 4:30 PM

It's not just Wendy's... not that I've been to Wendy's. Burgers aren't really my thing. But all food in general has gone WAY up and takeout especially, yes.

It may surprise you that my standard Taco Bell order is now $12 for 4 beef soft tacos and a Diet Pepsi!

Op open your eyes and see….EVERYTHING HAS GONE UP IN PRICE. It’s called INFLATION!!!

by Anonymousreply 3March 3, 2023 4:32 PM

Burger King and KFC are no longer a place to get a 'value meal'. I bought a three piece KFC chicken meal with one side and a Pepsi for $13.99 the other day. It used to be $7.99 before the pandemic.

I went there the other day, first time in a couple of years, and their portions had decreased by half and they "forgot" half of my order and refused to give it to me when I asked. They're the only place that still has grilled chicken and salads around here but I won't be going back.

A bucket of chicken at KFC used to cost 11 cents but now it's $840 and they spit on you when they're handing it over.

by Anonymousreply 6March 3, 2023 4:48 PM

Dataloungers pay extra for the spit r6

by Anonymousreply 7March 3, 2023 5:04 PM

I haven't eaten a meal that cost over 3 dollars in years.

by Anonymousreply 8March 3, 2023 5:18 PM

A simple bean burrito at Taco Bell will cost you almost $3 these days. THAT is FUCKED up. That's ok, I ate my last one. I used to think holding the cheese would make that a relatively healthy option...then I made the mistake of looking at the sodium content. I'll make my own at home for about 25 cents each and not kill my heart.

well, at least we have proof that bloomberg's soda tax didn't fight obesity and was just a war on the poors.

by Anonymousreply 10March 3, 2023 5:30 PM

When your done with the KFC, can I lick your fingers?

by Anonymousreply 11March 3, 2023 5:32 PM

R6 - Yes, but that particular KFC just got 3 Michelin Stars.

by Anonymousreply 12March 3, 2023 5:33 PM

All fast food is expensive now. Get a Costco $4.99 chicken. Add the hot dog and soda for $1.50 , and you're eating like a king for $6.50.

by Anonymousreply 13March 3, 2023 5:44 PM

Hasn’t Wendy’s always been the most expensive of the big three? I haven’t eaten there in several decades because of their high prices. Burger King has coupons, so there’s no reason to ever pay their full prices.

I never understood Stephen Colbert's continuous hatred over Arby's. He's constantly ragging on them in his monologues.

They're always running specials like "Two for $5" and so on.

Their French Dip's and Beef & Cheddar's are a guilty pleasure of mine.

by Anonymousreply 15March 3, 2023 6:37 PM

It’s hard to be a fat whore!

by Anonymousreply 16March 3, 2023 6:40 PM

I really like Arby's (and their secret red sauce), but their stores are filthy, at least here in TX.

[quote]EVERYTHING HAS GONE UP IN PRICE. It’s called INFLATION!!!

It’s called corporate price-gouging, and the key is o not buy anything that isn’t worth the money. Including food. Staples and BOGOs only.

Not just Wendy's. I had breakfast at McDonald's last week while waiting on my truck to get serviced. A biscuit sandwich, some kind of McMuffin, large coffee, and some sort of fried potato thing (which came with my "combo package")...$17!

The only plus side was being able to order at the self-serve kiosk and avoid talking to anyone. Also, my truck is good for another 5,000 miles, so there's that.

by Anonymousreply 19March 3, 2023 6:50 PM

The founder, Dave Thomas, died in 2002. Afterwards, Wendy's standards have declined since that time. The food is terrible and overpriced. They used to make good chicken sandwiches, now they taste like cardboard.

The company ceased to give a damn about quality. Also, the employees are miserable. They're overworked and underpaid zombies.

All the fast food (and other restaurants) have gone up. I don't eat at any of them anymore, but the one time i went thru the McDs drive thru to get a coffee, i thought about getting two of those little breakfast burritos and a 2 breakfast meal was over $7. Two of those used to be $3 and a coffee was a dollar, any size. Seriously, wtf.

Eldergays remember when Wendy has hot and juicy.

Lol 12 dollars at Trader Joes or even strategically picked Whole Foods items, would be so much more worth it. Then again I prefer to just grab quick food from the store. I don’t eat at drive throughs.

by Anonymousreply 24March 3, 2023 7:33 PM

I didn't go through the whole ordering process to see what the catch is, but they do have a few $5 burger/fries/drink combos. The burgers are Junior sized and the sides are small. The 2-picks-for-6 combo looks pretty generous, too, with two regular sized items for $6.
