Brenda Benet

Benet was devastated by her son's death and sank into a severe depression. On April 7, 1982, she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home in Los Angeles.[1][3][2] She was 36. In her book The Death of Right and Wrong, talk radio host Tammy Bruce writes of her personal involvement with Bixby and Benet. Benet and Bruce were romantically involved for a time, and Benet killed herself in a home she had previously shared with Bruce. Bruce had moved out two weeks prior to the suicide. On the day of Benet's suicide, Bruce thought that she would be meeting her for lunch. According to Bruce, Benet was locked inside the bathroom of her home when she arrived. Bruce sensed something was wrong and went to get help. After Bruce stepped outside, Benet shot herself.

About Bill Bixby: Apparently his ex-wife Brenda Benet was/became a bisexual/lesbian after her son died, and had an affair with the then 17 year old Tammy Bruce. Tammy later became the president of the L.A. chapter of N.O.W. She has since become a fairly well known commentator/writer. I know this info is true because Tammy writes about it in one of her books.|

According to Tammy, Brenda called her over to her house and actually killed herself while she was in the bathroom, and Tammy was in the other room. Talk about nice, huh?

The event freaked Tammy out so much she had to be hospitalized, and guess who paid the bill? Yep! Bill himself! How’s that for a postscript?

Bill Bixby directed Blossom. He was so ill he directed the show from his sofa. He married two months prior to his death from prostate cancer.

On April 7, 1982, her close friend, talk show host Tammy Bruce, had planned to have lunch with Brenda. Tammy went to Brenda’s West Los Angeles home but she didn’t appear to be home. Tammy looked in all the rooms. The last room she checked was the bathroom. The door was locked.

Tammy went for help and the door was forced open. Brenda was lying on the floor. She had arranged several lit candles in a circle around her before putting the barrel of a Colt 38-caliber revolver in her mouth and pulling the trigger. She died instantly. She was 36.
