I remember seeing them LIVE at the Santa Monica Civic. Fun times.

by Anonymousreply 4February 28, 2023 6:17 AM

R3: I loved, loved them. "Favourite Shirts" should have been a bigger hit stateside. Old?? They may just have forgotten to moisturize.

Oh man, Pelican West is a favorite album! I still have that vinyl and play it in the spring and summer time. Didn't VH1 do a special on the band? One of those reunite shows?

The band members seemed like good guys, all had moved on, but you knew they were bummed that their pop stardom was cut short because Nick Heyward just couldn't handle fame and he dropped out.

by Anonymousreply 6February 28, 2023 9:45 AM

Nick still looks good. I used to enjoy him swinging on a rope in a loincloth in the Love Plus One video. His 1993 solo album From Monday to Sunday was very good, particularly the song Kite.

by Anonymousreply 7February 28, 2023 10:15 AM

sexy!

by Anonymousreply 8February 28, 2023 5:49 PM

Some of those boys look a bit light in the loafers.

by Anonymousreply 9February 28, 2023 5:53 PM

Nick's greatest solo song. No question. Everything fell in line. A perfection pop song. The drumming itself is outstanding!

The greatest "summer" album ever.

by Anonymousreply 11February 28, 2023 6:10 PM

Link to 'Kite' as mentioned by R7

Nick matured VERY nicely!

Back in the day I thought Nick Heyward was so so adorable. And now that I'm an old man and he's getting on up in years I still think he's so so adorable.

Nick's subsequent solo album were actually really good.

by Anonymousreply 14February 28, 2023 6:16 PM

Nick's subsequent solo albumS were actually really good.

by Anonymousreply 15February 28, 2023 6:17 PM

Nick looks good with glasses.

by Anonymousreply 16February 28, 2023 7:12 PM

Thanks R13, Nick does look really good in that pic!

by Anonymousreply 17February 28, 2023 8:58 PM

R7, I couldn't agree more. The intro to that song -- the guitar, then the xylophone, then the horns -- is one of my favorite song openings from the 80s.

I always liked my guys a little rougher, but his look in this video really dazzled me, especially the knowing look while he gives the camera. The manspreading beginning at 1:03? Heavenly.

They are old but they all look healthy and pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 19February 28, 2023 9:20 PM

How can they be so old? I thought they were just beyond teenage years when "Love Plus One" was released.

by Anonymousreply 20February 28, 2023 9:37 PM

One thing I loved about all of them was that they looked very clean. Not like a lot of the dirty garbage you see today.

by Anonymousreply 21February 28, 2023 10:18 PM

Down to the lake I fear?

WTF?

by Anonymousreply 22February 28, 2023 10:22 PM

They look nice guys at ease with themselves.

by Anonymousreply 23February 28, 2023 11:01 PM

I liked them well enough but I think they had perhaps four songs I liked....trying to imagine how they get to a box set (without 7 versions of the same song, etc.)

by Anonymousreply 24February 28, 2023 11:06 PM

They stole "Ai ai ai ai ai ya!" from me!

by Anonymousreply 25February 28, 2023 11:07 PM

Don't forget me!

You can listen to this album from start to finish. I wish they would put out some of the unreleased tracks from that first album.

by Anonymousreply 28March 1, 2023 1:15 AM

yum-oooooooooooo

by Anonymousreply 29March 1, 2023 7:18 PM

That's so true Yoko, but H 100 sang it on key and made it sound fun - not like the final minutes of a slasher film frenzy.

You are a horror, Haircut 100 are happy, peppy, make people smile. You make us cringe.

by Anonymousreply 30March 1, 2023 8:57 PM

I was at Walmart today and heard "Fantastic Day" playing on the muzak feed.

by Anonymousreply 31March 2, 2023 3:52 AM

Saw them live last September. It was great!

by Anonymousreply 32March 27, 2025 12:25 AM

Such an underrated band

by Anonymousreply 33June 13, 2025 8:38 PM

Any outtakes from the video of Nick Heyward in the Tarzan outfit on the rope swing?

by Anonymousreply 34June 13, 2025 8:44 PM

At R13 it appears Hayward is wearing a pair of Shuron Freeway glasses. A design based on James Dean’s racing glasses. He is fucking adorable.

by Anonymousreply 35June 13, 2025 8:45 PM

He also appears to be in shape with big guns.

by Anonymousreply 36June 13, 2025 8:47 PM

One of the first 20 songs I learned on guitar was the rhythm from Love Plus One. Years after that I tried to play the bass line, and just couldn't get it right. The bass line is REALLY good.

by Anonymousreply 37June 13, 2025 8:57 PM

Why did Nick go solo?

by Anonymousreply 38June 13, 2025 9:03 PM

We have a 1980s retrospective bump bitch here this afternoon, getting those troll accounts ready for a MAGAT-EST weekend.
