Manson Girl turned snitch Linda Kasabian dead to me

She died in late January just now hitting the press . No cause of death mentioned. I always felt she was more involved than she admitted. Something off about her

What did she die of?

[quote] Something off about her.

Huh, that never occurred to me. Not about her any Manson Family member.

by Anonymousreply 3February 26, 2023 11:07 PM

No cause of death listed ☝🏼

by Anonymousreply 4February 26, 2023 11:08 PM

So who is left now?

by Anonymousreply 5February 26, 2023 11:08 PM

Had she not cooperate with the prosecution, she would have been a co-conspirator.

by Anonymousreply 6February 26, 2023 11:08 PM

[quote] Something off about her

There was something off about every person in the Manson Clan. Anyone who spent more than ten minutes with Charlie and didn't want to get the hell out of there, was off.

I invited her on my Xmas special. She said she would eat my face! I kindly declined. I just thought she would have added a certain spice.

Joan Didion bought the dress she wore when she testified.

by Anonymousreply 12February 26, 2023 11:17 PM

She was with the family for only a month before the murders.

^ she's also been quoted as believing Charlie was a christ-like.

and many of her recollections seem to express a longing to return to it.

by Anonymousreply 17February 26, 2023 11:24 PM

She was initially charged with 5 counts of murder.

She was so good in Dynasty.

by Anonymousreply 19February 27, 2023 1:12 AM

I had no idea the British band Kasabian was named after a person.

by Anonymousreply 20February 27, 2023 1:15 AM

God needed another Manson cult member

by Anonymousreply 21February 27, 2023 1:20 AM

It would have been much harder to prosecute the others in the Manson Family without her cooperation.

by Anonymousreply 22February 27, 2023 1:23 AM

Sharon Tate’s niece said that Kassabian was a what if situation for her family . What if she had sought help that night

by Anonymousreply 23February 27, 2023 2:45 AM

[quote]Joan Didion bought the dress she wore when she testified.

At the Magnin-Hi shop at I. Magnin. As Joan wrote:

“Size 9 Petite,” her instructions read. “Mini but not extremely mini. In velvet if possible. Emerald green or gold. Or: A Mexican peasant-style dress, smocked or embroidered.” She needed a dress that morning because the district attorney, Vincent Bugliosi, had expressed doubts about the dress she had planned to wear, a long white homespun shift. “Long is for evening,” he had advised Linda.

by Anonymousreply 24February 27, 2023 2:51 AM

From her wikipedia page:

[quote] In a September 2, 2009 live interview on CNN's Larry King Live, Kasabian recounted her memories of the murders at Sharon Tate's home. To help her maintain her now-quiet life, Kasabian wore a disguise provided by the program. She told Larry King during the interview that after the trial she had been in need of, but had never obtained, "psychological counseling", and that during the previous 12 years, she had been "on a path of healing and rehabilitation." When asked about the degree of remorse she felt for her participation in the crimes, Kasabian said she felt as though she took on all the guilt that "no one else [who was involved in the crimes] felt guilt for".

[quote] From the late 1980s, Kasabian lived in the Tacoma, Washington area, using the last name "Chiochios". In a 2016 Rolling Stone article on the current status of Manson Family members still living, it was said she had been "living in near poverty". In his 2016 book Sharon Tate and the Manson Murders, author Greg King recounted an October 1996 police raid by the Tacoma, Washington police department where Kasabian and her daughter, Quanu, had been arrested after discovering "rock cocaine and a large bundle of cash in a dresser drawer" along with a semi-automatic handgun and ammunition. According to King, Kasabian's daughter was tried and found guilty of possession of controlled substances and sentenced to serve time in a Washington state prison.

[quote]Kasabian died in Tacoma on January 21, at the age of 73.

R25, ☝🏼 the daughter was the two years old when after the murders , Linda left her with the Manson gang . She knew what these people were capable of and abandoned her toddler .

[quote]snitch Linda Kasabian

by Anonymousreply 27February 27, 2023 3:10 AM

I was NOT stabbing!

by Anonymousreply 28February 27, 2023 3:26 AM

From the looks of you, you've never STOPPED stabbing!

by Anonymousreply 29February 27, 2023 3:36 AM

“ When I first met Linda Kasabian in the summer of 1970 she was wearing her hair parted neatly in the middle, no makeup, Elizabeth Arden “Blue Grass” perfume, and the unpressed blue uniform issued to inmates at the Sybil Brand Institute for Women in Los Angeles. She was at Sybil Brand in protective custody, waiting out the time until she could testify about the murders of Sharon Tate Polanski, Abigail Folger, Jay Sebring, Voytek Frykowski, Steven Parent, and Rosemary and Leno LaBianca, and, with her lawyer, Gary Fleischman, I spent a number of evenings talking to her there. Of these evenings I remember mainly my dread at entering the prison, at leaving for even an hour the infinite possibilities I suddenly perceived in the summer twilight. I remember driving downtown on the Hollywood Freeway in Gary Fleischman’s Cadillac convertible with the top down. I remember watching a rabbit graze on the grass by the gate as Gary Fleischman signed the prison register. Each of the half-dozen doors that locked behind us as we entered Sybil Brand was a little death, and I would emerge after the interview like Persephone from the underworld, euphoric, elated. Once home I would have two drinks and make myself a hamburger and eat it ravenously.”

Bump

by Anonymousreply 31February 27, 2023 5:54 AM

She was an odd one for sure.

She had only been with the Manson Family for about a month -- a newbie -- but Manson sent her out on two consecutive nights of murder. Something didn't add up there.

by Anonymousreply 32February 27, 2023 5:56 AM

Linda Darlene Kasabian (née Drouin; June 21, 1949 – January 21, 2023) was a member of the Manson Family. Even though she was present at both the Tate and LaBianca murders, because she was the key witness in District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi's prosecution of Charles Manson and his followers for the 1969 killings, Kasabian received immunity.

It’s usually believed this is the dress Didion got her… though the truth is lost to time.

I’m surprised Joan Didion ate a burger, but I guess she had to be plastered to do it.

by Anonymousreply 39February 28, 2023 4:42 PM

R39, Joan Didion only ate cheeseburgers with bourbon poured over it.

Sure it did. Unlike most of the Family, Linda had a valid drivers license.

"Something off about her"

I wonder what?

by Anonymousreply 42February 28, 2023 5:07 PM

She was guilty as shit but as she turned state's evidence, she got off scot-free.

by Anonymousreply 43February 28, 2023 5:08 PM

Interesting that she lived her life in poverty, no doubt as some kind of pariah even though she could be called a pop culture icon (Joan Didion didn't just interview anyone). These days she'd be a social media star - still a pariah to some, but her movements would be followed everywhere & the gullible & stupid (Fox News types) would form a cult around her.

by Anonymousreply 44February 28, 2023 5:14 PM

Always thought it was odd she was so blonde but had an Armenian last name.

R45, courtesy of her (ex)-husband with whom she traveled to California with.

You can find her apartment complex in Tacoma online if you do a little digging. Very small and non-descript.

by Anonymousreply 47February 28, 2023 6:15 PM

I believe this is her daughter who at one point owned a beauty salon.

R20 this is true

[quote]Weird how she was seen as someone more innocent than the others. Funny how some people really do get off scott free.

I suppose in the days before DNA evidence, her testimony was key to putting together the timeline of what happened. Plus, she reinforced that they were acting on Charlie's orders, not just randomly killing.

As yes, she does look like Michael Shannon with pigtails.

by Anonymousreply 51February 28, 2023 6:35 PM

Kasabian had a little girl back at the ranch which Manson gave to another female family member to take care of. Linda if she went against Manson would lose her child and was afraid of that. Her testimony put them all away. I always thought she was extremely brave to do that. The Manson family likely killed their own lawyer before Charlie decided to defend himself. The lawyer that was trying to get them off but they felt he didn't do as they wanted, which was probably some stupid thing they wanted and he ended up suspiciously dead.

Kasabian knew her life would be in danger and her child taken by the family. But she testified anyway.

Maya Hawke played her in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."

I loved the scathing review of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood by Philomena Cunk and how they exploited Sharon Tate while making her look like a dumb piece of meat (with no lines!).

by Anonymousreply 54March 1, 2023 12:58 AM

What the fuck was Joan Didion, that fucking cold hearted cunt on? First she supports Kasabian, and then she supports the murderer of her niece. I believe she may have been an amoral mental twisted nasty cunt, but some other posters may have more information on why she was so hard and nasty...

by Anonymousreply 55March 1, 2023 1:07 AM

Yea, I always suspected she was way more involved than Bugliosi wanted to admit. He needed her and he needed her to be a palatable, sympathetic witness and therefor seemingly credible.

But this happens often. Prosecutors made deals with the lesser devil to get the other devils. Criminal prosecution is not for the faint of heart or even the too idealistic.

by Anonymousreply 56March 1, 2023 1:29 AM

^ none of the Manson members ever said anything about her participating in the murders even after their convictions. She had a driver's license and drove the killers to the Tate and LaBianca residences but did not take part in the murders themselves and is said to have played “lookout” as members of the Manson cult carried out the murders of Tate as well as Leno and Rosemary Labianca.
