Unlike O'Connor, West cannot make himself unattractive through his acting--he's just a natural charmer and cannot seem to hide it.

To this day there is an element of anger in some of the hardcore Diana-fans that you can tell comes from this specific factor of the relationship (i.e. that Diana was the young beauty and Charles was...not, and yet it was Charles who was never in love and wanted out). I think there is something that almost goes against the natural rules of the world when a straight man leaves a much younger and much more beautiful woman for an older and in this case below-average looking one.
