Dean Corll's house demolished

A/k/a the Candyman, a famous serial killer from Pasadena, Texas.

We've had threads about him before, but the most recent one is closed, so . . .

I'm surprised it took so long. Dean was a piece of work.

Many people lived there through the years. No reports of hauntings or negative vibes.

The city bought it. I guess they finally decided to tear it down but why now?

I'd heard one of the owners tore down the torture room a long time ago and made the garage a 3rd bedroom.

I didn't know there was another Candy Man killer at the same time in Pasadena, Texas. He poisoned his own son with cyanide-laced Halloween candy to collect the life insurance.

The demolished house at R7 didn't look bad, better than the neighboring houses.

by Anonymousreply 8February 27, 2023 8:10 PM

I thought it would have been pulled down around that time. Didn't they demolish John Wayne Gacy's and renumber the lot?

I guess Corll didn't dispose of his victims under the house, didn't he use a boat shed? He was truly evil, the things he did to those poor boys is sickening. He got off far too easily by being shot dead.

The denim outfit the reporter is wearing is also a horror.

Late last year, the Pasadena Economic Development Corporation bought the property. A city spokeswoman says the plan is to use it for the Little Vince Bayou Greenway Project. A neighbor said he was told it would be an entrance to a trail network.

True, R9. I think the majority of bodies were found in a rented boat shed at another location. The yard of 2020 Lamar Drive had been dug up recently and no human remains were found. All of the murders weren't committed at the demolished house but that's where his accomplice killed Corll.

by Anonymousreply 11February 27, 2023 8:41 PM

They can finally dig around the yard and find the remaining dead bodies so the grieving families still alive can get some closure. The way that case was handled was embarrassing and shameful filled with a mix of classism and homophobia. Corll had far more victims and probably had victims in California where he frequently traveled. Many missing boys in the loval areas between Houston and California probably were murdered by him. Then there's the sex trafficking and kiddy porn ring he had ties to.

8 murders were committed at the Pasadena, TX house and are considered some of the most gruesome.

Corrl went to the same elementary as Sharon Tate at the same time- South Shaver Elementary in Pasadena, TX.

The Reddit users get a lot wrong.

There were two Candy Man killers from Pasadena, TX and very close together- Corll and Ronald Clark ( I know his daughter who was an intended victim). Clark worked in a neighboring city, lived in Pasadena, and went trick or treating with his kids in Pasadena that fateful Halloween.

I live in Houston. I know Pasadena well. It was just hit hard by a F3 tornado. It has a bad reputation from the chemical plants, but the prevailing winds blow that shit the opposite direction 90% of the year. It's a decent suburb of Houston. It has gotten a lot more modern and affluent especially on its south side. It has a huge nature reserve ( Armand Bayou), a University of Houston satellite campus, Johnson Space Center..it's also famous for Gilley's and Urban Cowboy. It used to be a very racist city where the Klan was headquartered, but a mayor ran them out of town in the 80s. Google Roy Horn and you'll see the affluent southern part plus where the racists moved to due to the huge 1st Baptist Church who own city council and are radical White Nationalists.

I tried to get a tour of this house but couldn't.

a linked article from the reddit thread, describing an unidentified victim. It's hard for me to understand why the boy hasn't been identified a long time ago just from his clothing. It doesn't look like generic clothing that many other people could have worn. I assume photos of the clothes were shown on TV newscasts and in newspapers fifty years ago. I don't understand why anyone who knew who the boy was didn't come forward. Maybe they'll eventually figure out who he was through DNA analysis and by making comparisons to people who have had their DNA analysed for genealogy reasons.

I posted a deep dive into Houston and Pasadena PD's notes on this case. It is a stunning read. It'll take you days to sift through.

Cliff notes: HPD just gave up looking for other victims because the case broke the record for victims. They were also embarrassed by their horrific bungling of this. They admit giving up. Pasadena PD wanted to dig deep, but they didn't have the budget.

Corll and Gacey were connected. Huge pedophile ring.

11 of the first 18 victims, and others after, were found in child porn per HPD notes.

Corll may have been grooming his last victim, James Dreymala, a Pasadena boy, for months.

When Henley and Brooks were out of the picture when Corll was ill, Spring ' 73, Corll brought two famous CA serial killers to Pasadena per Pasadena PD notes. Let that sink in. They don't name them.

I'll post a link later. This case goes DEEP and is much bigger than we've been told.

It looks like Corll's grave is marked. I'm shocked. You'd think the marker would be constantly vandalized.

It should have been torn down long ago. The extreme evil that occurred in that house...so depraved. It was up for sale recently...remodeled throughout. I can't imagine anyone wanting to live there.

by Anonymousreply 18March 2, 2023 1:57 PM

I can understand some properties where serial killers lived, like Denis Nielsen's top floor London flat, being resold. But houses like this where so much barbarism took place getting to stand for many years makes no sense when it would be easy to pull down.

Anyone know who got ownership after this cunt got a much too easy death?

by Anonymousreply 19March 2, 2023 3:55 PM

Good question R19. Did anyone live in that house?

by Anonymousreply 20March 2, 2023 3:59 PM

R19. Many families lived there since 1973, five since 1995. Corll's dad owned it. The family moved to Pasadena to that house in the 50s. After the parents got divorced, his dad lived there until he remarried in 1973 thus Corll moved in.

by Anonymousreply 21March 2, 2023 4:37 PM

I remember reading at some point that one of the victims fought like a demon until Corll pulled out a gun. The witness said he could see the resignation in the boys eyes as he just went limp and gave up. That haunted me for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 22March 2, 2023 5:02 PM

Thanks for clarifying R21 it occured to me as I posted that local authorities can't just demolish a property of it's owned/inherited.

Did they tear down Gacy's?

R22 I think you may have posted that before? I remember seeing it somewhere. Extremely upsetting, what he did to those body before killing them was horrific.
