Where Did Male Body Hair Go?

I don't believe these numbers. People really let themselves go during the pandemic and haven't looked back. Guys who used to be clean cut all the time now have man buns and beards, etc. I doubt this many guys shave their body hair. We won't be going back to the late 90s or 2000s when everyone was clean as a baby's bottom, any time soon.

I don't get the shaving of pubes. I also don't get how it caught on. How did people know a vast number of other people were shaving their pubes? I can understand some visible fad catching on, but most people's pubes are invisible to me. Explain it.

In my 30s I started developing symmetrical bald patches on both legs. (Not due to friction, likely genetic or autoimmune). They started small, like quarter size, and spread over years like a very slow motion wildfire. Finally a couple of years ago, I gave up and started shaving them daily. Still have the hair everywhere else, so it's a bit odd, but I bike daily so it seems excusable. Still, never imagined missing my leg hair.

I came of age in the late 90's/early aught in LA. Being slim, muscular and smooth was the look. In the early days of online dating and maybe even grindr, people would ask if you are "naturally smooth". I am not that hairy, but I think that beauty standard has stayed with me. I look better smooth - it shows off definition more. I trim my bush and really trim my pits (this is one area that does get hairy) mainly for the smell.
