Evan Peters was originally cast as Ethan in White Lotus season 2

Will has the better body (plus nice skin tone and chest hair), so this worked out quite well for us.

They need to stop casting British people as Americans.

I agree, R10, though it could work if you imagine that Ethan is following a regimen that will build up his confidence after being the butt of jokes for guys like Cameron (Theo James). My first instinct, though, was definitely that it was incongruous.

He only has a career from blowing Ryan Murphy.

“Ethan” was one of the least-interesting characters on the show and White Lotus is over-praised, boring trash.

Many smart, quiet, nerd types are very fit and take care of themselves. Jesus Christ.

He's kinda bland looking yet I would not mind seeing him naked.

R13- Season 1 Episode 1- I could not get thru the episode, there was too much inane dialogue.

R14, of course anything is possible but you do have to lean into stereotypes a little in these cases, otherwise you might have some explaining to do. Would Daphne and Cameron have made sense as the more apparently aspirational couple if they both weren't played by very attractive actors? No.

Will Sharpe could get away with having a good body in his role but if, for instance, he was handsome as well as fit, then he would have not worked as a nerd. There might be fit, handsome nerds in the wild but a show won't work if it deliberately selects outliers.

Evan is too strong of an actor for a role like this. He would've eat Theo James alive.

I don’t think it’s hard to imagine a Beta Nerd type like Ethan getting rich and then hiring a personal trainer to bulk himself up. Achieving the kind of career/financial success he did at his age generally requires a driven, obsessive quality that could certainly transfer to exercise. It also tracks with his character arc as he builds up the courage to finally physically attack his longtime frenemy.

I made the original comment about the impressive body. Look I didn’t mean the character would be a skin and bones nerd. Certainly fit with a runners physique would make sense as would a personal trainer. I thought he was a tad too bulky. It doesn’t really matter. Maybe Mike White let his dick do the casting. Who cares, it doesn’t matter.
