Try any new snacks, restaurant food, drinks lately?

I tried the new BBQ flavored Doritos yesterday and did not care for them. My coworker said the new Wendy's Italian Chicken sandwich is good, the block of cheese on it looks a bit weird but I may try it.

by Anonymousreply 125April 8, 2024 4:47 AM

OP- I have a question for you-

Are you a FAT WHORE?

by Anonymousreply 1February 14, 2023 1:21 AM

I consider myself fit fat. The 3 Doritos I tried from the bag yesterday were not exactly a binge.

by Anonymousreply 2February 14, 2023 1:24 AM

i tried honey mustard kettle chips. I liked them.

The cherry and strawberry cheesecake crumbles are really good. And they come in 2 packages so you can do portion control if you are worried about calories.

Late July brand jalapeño and lime flavored tortilla chips. Very good, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 10March 6, 2023 8:02 AM

I tried a Mountain Dew Summer Freeze and a Faygo Firework. Both sodas are supposed to taste like a bomb pop. I liked the Faygo better.

by Anonymousreply 11May 14, 2023 2:24 AM

Faygo?!? Are you a Juggalo R11?

by Anonymousreply 12May 14, 2023 2:26 AM

No r12 but I live in Michigan (Faygo is made in Detroit)

by Anonymousreply 13May 14, 2023 2:28 AM

I avoided Trader Joes because I thought it was expensive, but they have very reasonable prices. I got the cookie butter (yellow cap with pretzels) at the suggestion of a coworker and it's amazing on sliced apples. I tried the cookie butter ice cream recently and it's nowhere near as good and won't be buying the ice cream again.

by Anonymousreply 14May 14, 2023 2:28 AM

OP. I love those Barbecue Dortos. They are like crack.

by Anonymousreply 15May 14, 2023 2:44 AM

DORTOS?

Doritos. Shit.

by Anonymousreply 16May 14, 2023 2:45 AM

I tried the new Mac sauce tubs. I want to bathe in it. 🛀🏻

by Anonymousreply 17May 14, 2023 4:45 AM

Lay's BLT Sandwich chips, they are good.

by Anonymousreply 18May 23, 2023 12:32 AM

I tried popcorn that tasted like Cool Ranch Doritos.

Pretty good.

by Anonymousreply 19May 23, 2023 12:39 AM

Trader Joe's salsa Verde chips were taken off a few weeks ago. Currently listed as returning this summer. The clerk who looked that up said he's looking forward to that as much as I am.

Had low expectations of their frozen kebabs, but they're a solid buy, short of $$$ Indian restaurant takeout or making some yourself.

Ube ice cream rather underwhelming.

by Anonymousreply 20May 23, 2023 12:40 AM

I bought a box of KETO brand salted caramel ice cream bars. They are good. Will buy them again.

by Anonymousreply 21May 23, 2023 12:42 AM

Vodka w/Pedialyte. The Pedialyte is absorbed immediately into you system, taking the Vodka along with it. I tried this on my baby and it worked!

by Anonymousreply 23May 23, 2023 12:48 AM

I tried Jersey Mike's for the first time recently, some kind of chicken philly. I did not care for it. Subway and Firehouse are far superior.

by Anonymousreply 24May 23, 2023 12:54 AM

I tried Flamin' Hot baked Cheetohs last week for the first time. They’re kind of annoying, but you can’t stop eating them for some reason.

by Anonymousreply 25May 23, 2023 1:04 AM

Frito-Lay is skimping on their flavor dust these days, so Cheeto and Doritos aren't what they used to be.

by Anonymousreply 26May 23, 2023 1:07 AM

[quote]Lay's BLT Sandwich chips, they are good.

I tried those and liked them okay but I preferred the Wavy Lays Cuban sandwich chips.

The Baked Lays Buffalo Chicken sandwich chips, however, were revolting. I normally prefer baked chips but this flavor did not work. Somehow it tasted mainly like raw chicken

I don't know about Doritos, but Cheetos (puffs) aren't as satisfying as they used to be. The crunchy Cheetos are still okay.

by Anonymousreply 29May 23, 2023 2:17 AM

I tried the new Ghost Pepper Chicken Sandwich at Wendy's, but it was so spicy, I couldn't enjoy it.

by Anonymousreply 30May 23, 2023 2:32 AM

Sprouts brand roasted seaweed is surprisingly good.

by Anonymousreply 31May 23, 2023 2:55 AM

Frito-Lay has brought back BBQ Fritos - they had been discontinued back in 2018.

Korean seasoned nori / seaweed sheets. It's not new to me, but I figure it might be something DLers might like. They come in small packs (maybe 3 by 4 inches). I can't recommend a brand, but I think they're probably all tasty.

by Anonymousreply 34May 23, 2023 3:22 AM

Doritos are thinner than what they used to be.

They were able to hold a satisfying amount of dip or salsa. Now they’re too thin and break if you try to use them as a dip delivery device.

Plus it does seem they have less cheese flavor.

by Anonymousreply 35May 23, 2023 5:14 AM

Do they still make chili cheese Fritos? Those were my favorite but I haven’t seen them in a long time. But I also haven’t been looking; they were always an impulse buy at the 7-11 checkout

Same here. And savory cravings with vegetables. Replace chips with celery sticks for that same satisfactory crunch.

Shit! I binge, OP. I binge like a mutha fucka! My thing is munching while I read - been doing it for decades. I went through 80% of a family sized bag of Snyder's Honey Mus Pretz pieces in an hour last month while cognitively consuming an Iceberg Slim novel! Then I had a party size bag of Lay's Sour Cream n Onion - same thing happened. I munch and I read... I munch while I read!

by Anonymousreply 41May 23, 2023 7:12 PM

Doesn’t that get your pages greasy?

by Anonymousreply 42May 23, 2023 7:15 PM

Not at all. I read via my tablet, using my pinky knuckle to scroll/advance through the book. That's how we do it, baby.

by Anonymousreply 43May 23, 2023 7:18 PM

Do not know about their hot sandwiches but Jersey Mike's cold subs are far superior to Subway and Firehouse

by Anonymousreply 45May 23, 2023 8:38 PM

They sell chili cheese Fritos at the Dollar General.

I recently bought a smallish bag for a road trip.

Cheddar Jalapeno Cheetos is where its at

by Anonymousreply 47May 24, 2023 1:26 AM

At the suggestion of DLer, I tried the Talenti Cold Brew Coffee Sorbetto (Dairy Free) and it is very good.

Tried Culver's (the burger joint) new Lemon Ice and it is very good. I got a single scoop cup topped with raspberries. There are other fruit toppings available (Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, Peaches or Cherries). The Lemon Ice can also be made into a Cooler blended with various fruits or a Smoothie blended with their famous custard.

RealGood Foods frozen low carb entrees were disgusting.

Subway is not superior to anything.

Do the Lay's BLT chips count as three vegetables--lettuce, tomato, and potato?

by Anonymousreply 51May 24, 2023 2:33 PM

Last week I tried the Chicken Royale at Burger King and it was very good.

Sometimes when you need something quick, you don't want a burger.

The girl at the counter recommended it to me when I asked what she thought the best sandwich they made was. It was 3:30 in the afternoon and no one else was in the place and no one at the Drive Thru.

by Anonymousreply 52May 24, 2023 4:33 PM

Oh and I usually mix a drink of Vodka and cranberry juice. But my Dollar (25) Tree was out of the juice.

So I got some strawberry/watermelon juice......and I think I like it even better.

by Anonymousreply 53May 24, 2023 4:36 PM

Knotty Pretzels in the Savory Italian flavor. Addictive, crunchy and just GOOD. A brewery near me sells these and a few other of their flavors. Yum.

R14 TJ's is really not that expensive and they have great pre-made meals, their chicken enchiladas are great as are the Cubano sandwiches.

I love the Pop Corners kettle corn flavor and eat a little bag of those a week. I just tried the spicy mustard Doritos and they are so good! I was surprised. If you like spicy, try them.

by Anonymousreply 55May 24, 2023 5:02 PM

Tried the 2 new Mountain Dew Baja flavors and liked them both.

by Anonymousreply 56July 12, 2023 4:25 AM

Once in a discussion, I said that I thought celery had a nasty taste, with the other person saying he felt celery had no taste. So, the idea upthread that it's a perfect substitute for chips isn't always possible.

I like salted butter-flavor pretzels.

I’m wondering if birria tacos have gone completely US wide yet. I know they were popular in Los Angeles 10 years ago, but they really took off where I live about four years ago and since then I think we’ve hit “peak birria”. It’s at every restaurant now. You can get birria pho, birria pasta, birria fries. I am sufficiently birria’d.

Has everyone experienced this in their cities? Is there any place that the birria has yet to reach?

by Anonymousreply 59July 13, 2023 1:41 AM

by Anonymousreply 60July 13, 2023 1:57 AM

Pretzel goldfish are crunchier than the regular soft texture; they've been around a while. I like pizza flavor best.

I don't see birria at restaurants, but notice Trader Joe's sells frozen birria beef.

by Anonymousreply 61July 13, 2023 12:31 PM

Thanks r61. It’s coining to you soon enough. It went from being on one or two menus to hundreds over the last 4 years or so where I am.

It’s delicious, but trendy. But also probably a trend here to stay.

by Anonymousreply 62July 13, 2023 3:00 PM

^i say that because I looked up it’s origins in Tijuana and found out the American version is different than the Mexican version and even restaurants in Tijuana have increasingly started serving the American style, so the way birria was adapted by whoever first decided to make it happen here and in LA has become so popular with folks and restaurants in Mexico that it’s changing where it originated!

by Anonymousreply 63July 13, 2023 3:08 PM

I just saw a commercial for flavored cashews.....maybe from Planter's.

I may have to try the dill pickle flavored ones.

by Anonymousreply 64July 13, 2023 4:59 PM

Funny reading about Goldfish crackers while I am eating them. I am trying the Goldfish Mega Bites Sharp Cheddar, they definitely have more of a bite to them than regular ones, they are bigger and the cheese flavor is sharper.

r71 I like Giant Eagle's house brand potato chips much more than Lay's. I like some Kettle Brand flavors as well, but mostly I avoid chips.

by Anonymousreply 72July 15, 2023 2:36 PM

I found these white cheddar cheese puffs at Costco that were made from garbanzo beans (chick peas.) They are quite good. I wanted something snacky but I was trying to be good. Plus they were the least expensive. Giant big bag for $4.99.

by Anonymousreply 103April 4, 2024 10:48 PM

I am just home from the store with the new Planters dry roasted "Bold & Savory" peanuts. They caught my eye as they are quite dark so I had to investigate. I can't really identify a specific flavor, but the ingredients list onion and garlic powder, sugar, salt, honey and smoke flavor, not in that order. They are very good without being too bold or spicy. The regular dry roasted peanuts have grown bland over the years, IMO.

I also love the Planters Rosemary/sea salt cashews which I think are new. Wish they came in a bigger container.

Not new, but a recommendation to other fat whores are the Herr's Honey Cheese Curls. Much better than Cheetos, they are a combination of savory and sweet. Sometimes you can find them at Walmart, but I usually have to go to a gas station convenience store to find them.
