"The Popcorn Kid"- Ran for only a few episodes in the spring of 1987 on CBS on Friday night. Kind of like "Are You Being Served?" but set in an old movie theater. The main kid thought working there would help him get into the movie industry. In the last episode, they were having an Ed Asner film festival.
"The Charmings"- Started out on Friday night on ABC during the spring and summer of 1987. It was taken off and retooled then brought back, but I lost track (and interest). Silly little show about Snow White, the prince, and the evil queen somehow being transported to the real world. I liked it very much, but then, I like "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". I hoped they would have a hot guy playing the prince, but I was disappointed.
"Moon Over Miami"- Billy Campbell 🥵 as a private detective in the great city of Miami, running his agency out of an old art deco restaurant (or something). He had a Cuban guy as a bodyguard and a Cuban chick as his receptionist. Ally Walker (before "Profiler") was an amnesiac who hired Campbell to find out who she was. She ended up sticking around to help on cases and as Campbell's "love interest". It tried to be like one of those old "will they/won't they" type movies from the 1930s and 1940s, showing contrast between the easy-going Cuban couple and the bickering Campbell and Walker. It ran for half a season on ABC in the fall of 1993. The building used for exterior shots was the same one used for "The Golden Palace".
"PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal"- Hosted by Dan Aykroyd, it was kind of a Canadian version of "The X-Files". Each hour episode was divided into two separate "case files" as a team of investigators interviewed people with claims of ghosts, demons aliens, etc. A little silly, but good if you're into that kind of thing. Ryan Gosling was in the pilot as a teenager claiming to have been abducted by aliens. I watched it for a hot actor named Paul Miller. Thick, black wavy hair, blue eyes, square jaw, and a deep voice that would make me curl my toes. Jesus, I thought he was hot! He's now a hot Daddy playing the mayor on "The Good Witch". He was my introduction to Canadian men and television. I only watched the first season (1996-1997), then they killed off Paul's character in the season finale!
"Remember WENN"- Created by Rupert Holmes of "The Pina Colada Song" fame, it was AMC's first endeavor in original programming (well before "The Walking Dead"). Remember when they used to show old movies? A short feel-good sitcom set in a small town radio station in the days before World War II. No one of interest in the main cast that I can recall. The original station manager was hot in a big, masculine Daddy kind of way. (He got shipped off on a mission for special forces mid way through the show's run.) There was a queen playing the main male voice actor, trying hard to both come off as a philandering Clark Gable/ Errol Flynn type and not light the set on fire with his flames. Betty Buckley guest starred as the widow of the station owner. Lots of vintage clothes, hairstyles, and props. Old time, corny sense of humor. It had its moments, but mostly just a comforting, cozy kind of show in the vein of "A Christmas Story". Ran for a few seasons in the late 1990s (I first noticed it in 1996.). Forgotten now, I haven't seen it anywhere in years and my video tapes were lost.
