"Pieces", the 1982 slasher film starring Christopher and Lynda Day George

This was one of my go-to VHS rentals at the video store when I was a teen. It's on Peacock and Roku for free, with ads.

A great, terrible b-movie you can rewatch over and over again. I also appreciated the lead actor's full frontal nude scene when I was a kid discovering this on VHS for the first time. You didn't see that very often and still don't.

The cute Brazilian is the one that went full frontal, not Christopher George.

A lot of the actors were Brazilian, so it overdubbed. And very badly at that. It adds to the charm of the movie.

The BASTARD! scene was my favorite scene in the movie. Lynda Day George seemingly forgot everything she learned in acting class in this movie.

I imagine the killer's mom is like most DLers mom, except the DLers puzzle would be a nude male instead. A good example of the bad overdubbing in this scene.

There are some great stalking sequences in this movie (the scene where the dancer is killed in the elevator with the chainsaw is fantastic), though much of the gore effects are pretty hokey. When the girl gets stabbed through the back of the head on the waterbed, for example, you can very clearly see the flimsy prop knife bending in half as it touches her head, especially because it's played in slow motion. The whole movie has a very weird atmosphere (it's set in Boston but was shot in Madrid with a mixture of Spanish and American actors) and is at times marginally creepy, but it's mostly pure camp. It is a fantastic slasher movie, similarly trashy like "Sleepaway Camp" is. I have always really enjoyed it.
