Once upon a time I had a rather stereotypical queen friend who described himself as a sadist. One night we were hanging out and things got out of hand where I learned a very painful lesson.

it's relatively common among gay nerds and nerds in general.

other variations are well, variable

but speaking on gay nerds,

the stereotype of coming out is generally one of being not like other gays, a bit socially repressed or conservative.. the best you can do in the scene for a conversation is usually just a politifag and they tend to look like a crossdressing Monty Hall.

younger years, they may find a gay geek but nearly every gay geek has some obsessive kink beyond just an obsessive hobby...

all these variations struggle thru until about 24 (college graduation age) and inevitably shed off the awkwardness of the past and surrender to wanton lust after having abstained for so long. (it doesn't mean they weren't hooking up but chances are not as much as everyone else)

they tend to use sexual contact to shortchange small talk and communication, too... lest they be viewed as outside the social norms and expectations.

if they're unsightly or fat, they're apt to confuse hooking up with dating in a bid to find a relationship instead of developing other social skills. or if they're incredibly grotesque and inept, they become furries.
