I still find this insistence on "top" and "bottom" designations weird for actual gay life. Aren't most of us vers at some time or another? Also, I've never really had it be an issue during sex. It's pretty well understood that anal is a "sometimes" activity and we can have a lot of fun without it, and when it's on the table I've never gone into a situation stating my topness or bottomness, it more just comes up in the heat of the moment, who wants who to do what to whom.

it simply saves time to have set "general" preferences that could be shorthanded into the distinctions of top, bottom or vers. And vers, we tend to assume are bottoms trying to attract r24 because of the grain of truth in the stereotypes.
