The original short film, with over 44 million views. It’s actually scarier than 95% of Hollywood horror movies, and better than most found footage films for sure.

I really like the backrooms films, great atmosphere and style. There's a whole world if you do a deep dive on TikTok. The only thing missing is a story.

Of all of the concepts to steal from YouTube horror creators, this is not the one I would have chosen. No one who has ever been alone in a building finds Backrooms compelling. Gen Z horror for children who were never allowed out of their parents' sight.

There are indie video games, memes, and fan fiction that all revolve around being trapped in an endless maze of featureless rooms with yellow wallpaper with something mysterious hunting you. A lot of times it will turn out to be a separate dimension or a dreamworld.

I thought this was about Crobar, J's and Wonder Room in the 90s.

It is interesting to see what different generations find spooky. I grew up in the now complete overdone "found footage" era, but in the beginning I did legitimately find a lot of that stuff spooky.

This is a lot creepier than most Hollywood horror films, that rely on jump scares and gore and violence. This teenager relied on atmosphere.

I hate jump scares. They feel so cheap, because you are going to get "scared" whether you really are scared or not, and I find that irritating.

Ahh, R34, I think I remember seeing that back in that day - downloaded from Bearshare probably. Brings back memories, I was into the shorter, darker haired guy (Dylan) a lot back then. I liked the boys who looked like that at school at the time too, so it was very exciting to watch him.

Oh and R35 was one of the first I downloaded back then. I remember really liking the younger guy in that one too. The opening conversation about fat personal trainers brings it all right back.

I'd watch the Bareback Rooms.
