They think it's an ideal utopia but it never has been and every country that has tried it has been left relatively poor. Their best minds escape and the people who who are connected to the government become the elite.

It's authoritarianism and there's a reason the US fight so hard to keep it from expanding in the past, when a good portion of the world was under it's influence.

True Marxist communism is supposed to thrive in certain countries that are socially cohesive. Marx wanted it for Germany and never would have recommended it for Russia.

The idea sounds beautiful and egalitarianism on paper but it's not reality. I think people are longing to feel a connection to a better world.
