Did you know Brigitte Bardot is a raging racist and homophobe?

by Anonymousreply 37March 13, 2023 5:10 PM

Elle n'est aucune Catherine Deneuve.

by Anonymousreply 1February 1, 2023 9:16 PM

Elle m'a frappé à la tête avec un caquelon à fondue.

by Anonymousreply 2February 1, 2023 9:20 PM

R1 R2 the way you type French it drives me wild!!

As far as Ms Bardot is concerned she's old and cranky.

by Anonymousreply 3February 1, 2023 9:24 PM

[quote] she grieves her homeland for being “invaded by an overpopulation of foreigners, especially Muslims.”

Fascist response by the government to free speech about an obvious reality

by Anonymousreply 4February 1, 2023 9:25 PM

Yes, I knew she is une déplorablé.

An animal rights advocate but very little to recommend beyond that.

by Anonymousreply 5February 1, 2023 9:26 PM

So she hates Islam and trannies from the sounds of it.

The French are FULL OF SHIT about World War Two as well.

What did the French waiter say when the Nazis marched into Paris?

Table for 70,000?

Qui était cette cunt?

by Anonymousreply 11February 1, 2023 9:38 PM

What I got from all of this is that I'm thankful for the First Amendment.

Why can't she speak her mind about politics without being fined? That's fucking Orwellian.

And why can't she criticize a group of freaks who want to kill gay people and get bent out of shape if you draw a picture of their pedo deity?

Islam is a filthy mind virus. Poll after poll show that Muslims across the globe want your gay ass flogged, thrown in jail, or outright killed. It's literally a fascistic death cult and Bardot has every right to criticize it.

Why not criticize an ideology that wants gay men put to death?

@R13

Quels seins si gros.

by Anonymousreply 15February 1, 2023 9:52 PM

Funny scene in r13.

Just this afternoon I watched Bardot in Jean-Luc Godard's film "Contempt". No dancing in pantaloons but she was excellent.

by Anonymousreply 16February 1, 2023 10:20 PM

Quelle Surprise? Non

by Anonymousreply 17February 1, 2023 10:26 PM

She’s age 88. Don’t care what she utters.

by Anonymousreply 18February 1, 2023 10:46 PM

I wouldn't call that laissez faire, OP; the French have prosecuted her, which is more than the USA would have done.

by Anonymousreply 20February 1, 2023 11:22 PM

Her looks didn't hold up at all. I wonder why?

by Anonymousreply 21February 2, 2023 12:18 AM

That's a hard 88.

by Anonymousreply 22February 2, 2023 12:18 AM

[quote] Un Cri Dans Le Silence not only railed against Muslims but the LGBT+ community as well. In her book, she compares her gay companions to the modern LGBT+ community who “jiggle their bottoms, put their little fingers in the air and with their little castrato voices moan about what those ghastly heteros put them through.”

[quote] Bardot even went as far as to say that some “contemporary homosexuals behave like fairground freaks.” After widespread public outcry to her views against the community, Bardot attempted to defend herself by stating that she is “entirely surrounded by homos. For years, they have been my support, my friends, my adopted children, my confidants.”

Sounds pretty DL here. She doesn't like mincing queens and prefers an older generation of gay. Also, probably not a big fan of the alphabet soup, which again, pretty DL.

by Anonymousreply 23February 2, 2023 12:25 AM

I knew about her many years ago. She's been completely off her rocker for decades.

by Anonymousreply 24February 2, 2023 12:31 AM

Over the years there have been several threads about her and her racism and xenophobia.

Nothing in the article mentioned anything she said about trans, but of course someone had to try to say all her bigoted comments about "the homosexuals" were "really about trans." Incredible.

I don't think she's saying she prefers "the older generation of gay," r23. How far back would you have to go to get to that generation, anyway? The "mincing queens" you talked about and the "fairground freaks" she talked about were already visible in European films in the 1960s, a full 40 years before her 2003 book where she went off on gays.

She's just a plain old-fashioned bigot.

by Anonymousreply 26February 2, 2023 8:34 AM

She was pretty but Catherine Deneuve was much more beautiful. A lot of old Europeans are racist and homophobic. Europe isn't that liberal as people think, they just don't act like giggling 10-year-old boys about nudity and sex like Americans do.

by Anonymousreply 27March 12, 2023 1:52 PM

R1, who ever said she was a Catherine Denueve?

by Anonymousreply 28March 12, 2023 2:06 PM

The homophobe accusation is bullshit. She's surrounded by gays. Always has been.

by Anonymousreply 29March 12, 2023 2:13 PM

So is BB our very own p o o s h o e s?

by Anonymousreply 30March 12, 2023 2:14 PM

Possibly racist and transphobic, but not homophobic.

Since LGBTQ+ has become synonymous with trans and nonbinaries, being anti-LGBTQ+ is not necessarily being anti-homosexual

by Anonymousreply 31March 12, 2023 2:18 PM

Old French can be racist, xenophobic and antisemitic. That's for sure. Many French are traditionalists so regard heterosexuality as default and see marriage as solely between a man and a woman. Alain Delon said similar things in regards to that.

by Anonymousreply 32March 12, 2023 4:40 PM

R29 So? Does that mean she sees gay men as her equal and human beings worthy of respect? That she doesn't see them as simply amusing pets? The only types of gays who would want to be around her would be the flaming queens she's insulting.

by Anonymousreply 33March 12, 2023 4:44 PM

Free Harvey Weinstein!

by Anonymousreply 34March 12, 2023 5:03 PM

I wasn't aware of the homophobia, but the xenophobia in her '99 book did make the media at the time. I was surprised and this was pre-9/11 that transformed a lot of people into blanket Islamophobes. I'm aware that a lot of older Europeans, like my late parents, have bigoted opinions, but I guess I was surprised because it's someone who worked in the arts. And France had been welcoming or accepting of African Americans like James Baldwin and Josephine Baker who found relief from American racism there. At least that's my memory learning about them in high school.

by Anonymousreply 35March 13, 2023 4:49 PM

What you need to know about Bardot is that she's fou. She always was. That said, she's far from the only person in France concerned about the erosion of culture under the pressure of rising Islam. Or, for that matter, in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Britain, Belgium, and Switzerland.

As for poster above who wondered why her looks didn't "hold up". Jesus, no one who looks as she did at 25 "holds up" into old age. She's in her eighties. What did you think would happen to her skin, jawline, breasts, hair, and arse in her eighties?!

You hold up reasonably well past sixty when you have those fine-boned classy looks (Honor Blackman comes to mind) whose natural elegance goes on when their youthful beauty has moved on.

Bardont didn't a scintilla of elegance in so much as her fingernails. Her kind of voluptuous appeal is dependent on youth and hormones.

by Anonymousreply 36March 13, 2023 5:01 PM

The French used to have quite strict rules about the percentage of foreign language films and music that could be distributed in the country.

I don't blame them. It was a means to try to preserve French culture and to promote French artists.

Bardot is ancient so she has a lot of history to look back on. Like most elders she prefers the way life used to be. She's in get off my lawn territory so why take her seriously?
