WWYD if you were in this scenario?
Imagine you're the chauffeur/personal assistant to a successful businessman. He's not a bad guy or anything nor is he difficult to work for, but he's a bit of a cheap bastard and you're being paid a VERY modest hourly wage. Not just that, but he also often makes you take on "extraneous" tasks (outside of the office) with scant extra pay.
Now imagine he has assigned you to chaperone his daughter's 15th birthday party. The party takes place at the family's lavish holiday home in another state (boss covers the cost of your round trip ticket, and he also makes it clear you'll be "on the clock" the entire time and paid accordingly).
The holiday home includes a guest suite (bedroom + bathroom) you will be staying in. Daddy expects you to be present during the entire evening of his daughter's birthday party, just supervising. You would be the only adult there.
When the two of you disembark from the airport and arrive at the home, the daughter offers you 1k in cash to "take the day off" (in other words, she's trying to get you to leave her with her friends).
WWYD?

The little cunt isn’t my boss so I would tell her no.
I WOULD rat her out to her dad and let him know you were very tempted because of the shitty pay. Also,, negotiate better, this is still an employee’s job market.

If you’re the responsible adult and anything happens to minors supposedly in your charge you can be sued for damages to treat injuries to them or that they commit while you weren’t supervising them.

R1 you would turn down 1k? From a teen who wants nothing more than you fucking off and letting her have the house by herself?

What would I do? Tell the little bitch 1K isn't enough money.
The ball is in her court.
She can up the ante or forget it.

So much can go wrong at 15. She gets raped, ODs, etc. Or someone just fucks up a rug with vomit. Any of those will get you in trouble with boss. Some will get you sued or worse. A thousand bucks is not worth the risk. Actually, ten times that wouldn't be.

R3, r1 is not a moron who wants to be sued.

Get the bitch's money up front and show daddy.

If Daddy knows her at all he may be expecting this scenario. You have no guarantee his limo won't pull up at the door in the middle of the party.
Plus there's what R2 said. You don't want to be being interrogated by the cops the day after, OP.

I’d sleep with your boss.

$1,000 isn’t a lot. Sounds like you have a shitty employer and should look for another job.
Something always happens at a teen party.

R15 you don't think an angry, vindictive teenage girl would be able to come up with other schemes to get you fired?

This is why you don’t fuck around with rich teenagers and their parents.

In this hypothetical scenario, you aren't being paid enough to act as an all-possible-outcomes bodyguard and nursemaid to a 15-year-old girl who hasn't been told "no" enough by her parents. I would tell her father about the attempted bribe, and let him deal with disciplining his child, including possible cancellation of the party. You are her father's personal assistant, and should not be suffering professional consequences from whatever temper tantrum follows from that.
Mostly what R17 said. As soon as rich parents start turning their professional assistance into babysitters, it's time to find a new job.

Don't take the $$, but, be careful, she may try to fuck you up with a false accusation for telling her 'no'.

Geez, you know there are going to be cameras around where you can't see them, so you want to consider a bribe by a teenager (who is already planning and plotting)? Reporting the bribe and talking to your boss about how the home, daughter and party need more security may get you further than the $1000.

I would look the young lady in the eyes and say "BITCH PLEASE, don't try to play me!".
by Anonymous | reply 27 | January 30, 2023 10:38 AM

So, again, the common sense choice is not to do it. I'd also tell the boss ASAP. The girl may be pissed at your rejection and scheme to get you in trouble, but if you tell boss before she has a chance to really do that, (e.g. "Daddy, he hit on me at the party!), you have the better cards. It's possible she might just sulk, but you need to tell boss.

How many teenagers would there be?
All parents being OK with a stranger being the only adult there is where it fell apart for me.
How old would the protagonist be?

Sounds like a law and Order Criminal Intent episode.

First, I would tell her no unless you were planning on quitting right after the party since you're getting your ass fired - or worse, getting sued if something happened and you were being paid by your employer to monitor the situation.
Second, I would tell the father.
Third, I'd be certain to be wearing a body camera that was recording 100% of the time during the party as protection from the little monster who would undoubtedly pull something to get you in trouble for declining her offer (and telling on her to daddy).

I'd get sick in time to avoid this mother of a mess. Let Daddy Warbucks watch their own daughter in case someone has something that leads to an OD.
15 yr old girls are weapons of mass destruction.

I'd look for another job. You are poorly paid, you aren't a baby sitter. If something happens to the brat, who is already trying bribe you to leave her to hor own devices, it will be your ass that gets in trouble. Fuck the cheap bastard who asks you to do so much for so little!

Will there be any "nephews" at the party?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | January 30, 2023 1:37 PM

Under no circumstances would I ever agree, for any amount of money, the be to sole adult chaperone for a teenager overnight. This will end in tears.
If there is one ounce of reality in this EST definitely wear a body cam at all times. I won’t ever put myself in a position where I am ever alone with a child, and teenagers are monsters.

Did the underpaid gopher ever agree, in writing, to babysit a houseful of teens in another state?
If not, the potential for lawsuit or criminal charges is negligible. There'd be no written proof that this was the person's job responsibility.
But this hypothetical fool should get out, and try to take some coin on the way out the door.

A rare probable EST that is interesting enough that it doesn’t matter that it’s an EST.
Don’t take the money, OP. Tell your boss immediately and suggest he cancel the bitch’s party. Take that you little cunt.

I would just forward this thread to both the father and the daughter and let them hash it out.

The scenario would require that the employee is already on site at the boss's luxurious house. And the party is soon. How about you turn it back on the daughter. Tell her - "Listen sweetie, I'll take 500 dollars so I don't call your father, tell him your 1K offer, and tell him the party must be cancelled because I can't stay. so the deal is 500 and II stay. I'll butt out, and won't get involved unless there is an emergency. Deal or no deal?"
This gets EVERYONE what they want. You get 500 and didn't leave the party unmonitored. The boss gets you being the slave. The girl gets her party.
