Many people have recorded the song "Home" over the past 45+ years, but Diana Ross has definitely recorded the very best version of this song. (Much better than Streisand's 1985 recording). Prove me wrong !
Best version of "Home" was recorded by Diana Ross in 1978

Nah. Miss Stephanie's original version was flawless.

Is this when 40 year old Diane played a teenaged girl?
Yeah, I remember that.

Oh Mary! You made a career of jealously and duplicitously poking at Diana from the background, because you had little else to offer when the spotlight was pointed your way.

We can't prove you right OR wrong, OP. You've just stated an opinion. That has nothing to do with verifiable facts.

Diana’s flat in a few parts. Ew.

I loved Chenowith's version on GLEE, at R4's link.
Ross was trying too hard, like most of her performance in the movie.
Never that crazy about Mills' voice.

Stephanie's gives me chills (MARY!) but Diana's version has heart. Lots of heart.

The instrumental finale to Diana's version always gives me goosebumps. Any feelings (love? hate?) for Andrea McArdle's version?

The **remake** that Stephanie did....well, that one was terrible. But when you hear the performances she gave on the stage.....
M!
A!
R!

The original Stephanie Mills Broadway version shits all over the Ross version.

Diane was an UGLY and OLD Dorothy.

R14 Lovely post but
THIS
is the original Broadway version.

And that, bitches, is THE version.

The Stephanie Mills version has such innocence. So perfect for the role.
Whitney sang a version—her first TV appearance on some talk show

....although a little frosty.....

None of them have the heart and soul like Ross' version.

It is a great song, it's hard to mess up. Diane's version is great. Louise sings Diane's vocal arrangement lick-for-lick.

I like Diana's version but it's Diana Ross singing Home, not Dorothy
by Anonymous | reply 26 | January 25, 2023 2:07 PM |
Of course it's Diana Ross singing 'Home', not Dorothy - Dorothy is a fictional character who Diana gave life to in the movie.

Baby dyke Whitney is so good in that clip and absolutely adorable.

Amen r29. She looked hideous and the whole thing sucked.

Almost as bad as putting a hyphen where it doesn't belong.

Never liked Whitney's version from TMGS. Maybe you had to be there in person ?
