The reasoning?
FL argues that the course is a Trojan horse for "indoctrinating" students with a left-wing ideology under the guise of teaching about the Black experience and African American history.
Seriously

Considering the right wing has been anti-emancipation and anti-civil rights, is really a mystery why blacks tend to be left?

“Black people were enslaved…” “I’m sick of this shit, I’m pulling you out of that school. I’m smarter than the teachers and I’m sick of this woke shit. This is a straight white Christian nation!”

So weird. I remember studying Barbara Jordan, Harriet Tubman and the underground railroad as well as other important Black figures in school back in the 70s in grade school.

R4 Black people were less threatening then. Now that they feel more empowered to have a voice, notice what happens.

R4 I went to school in the 70s as well - I recall learning about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. Don't recall learning about Barbara Jordan, though. And we had an influx of young, black teachers, student teachers and substitute teachers in the early 70s, when the older (white, Irish) teachers retired. Glad I was a student back then - wouldn't want to be one now.

AS much as I despise his policies, we can't just point fingers at DeSantis. Education Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. (a Latino) has also denounced this course, calling it 'a Trojan Horse'. Makes you wonder what he'd be saying if this was a Latino AP course.

It's Woke to teach anything about black history apparently because so much of black history is about white oppression.
How convenient to outlaw that.

Dont say Black

Amazing that the original letter says the course "lacks educational value."
For whom?

They were saying that it had sections on CRT and "queer studies" and that's why they banned it.
