Jamie Lee Curtis called out for creepy child art in Insta photo

Jamie Lee Curtis is being slammed on Twitter after sharing a photo of her office that’s been decorated with a picture of a seemingly nude child in a box.

The 64-year-old “Halloween” star — who contracted COVID-19 after attending the Golden Globes — posted the photo on Instagram (now deleted) and Facebook, which focused on the “beautiful Pollack chairs” in the center of the image.

Curtis issued an apology on Thursday afternoon, offering a bit more context to the artwork.

“Last week, I posted a picture of some chairs that included a photograph on the wall by an artist that was gifted to me 20 years ago. I understand it has disturbed some people. As I have said, I am a truth teller so here’s the truth,” wrote the actress. “It’s a picture of a child, taken by her mother, of her playing in their backyard in a tub of water. Nothing more, nothing less.”

“I took down the post because I didn’t want to keep something up that upset anyone,” continued Curtis.

Oooh…that’s so chic.

by Anonymousreply 1January 21, 2023 6:52 PM

She needs a professional interior decorator. That room is cold and ugly - just like she is.

by Anonymousreply 2January 21, 2023 6:53 PM

Oh for fuck's sake. Slam it because it's hideous, but it's not child pron. Those Twitter prudes need to untwist their panties and grow the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 3January 21, 2023 6:53 PM

[quote] “I took down the post because I didn’t want to keep something up that upset anyone,”

If it truly was just a child playing in a backyard tun there isn't a thing wrong with that. But even Hollywood legend Jamie aka The Right Honourable the Lady Haden-Guest must cower from the woke Cancellation lynch mobs.

by Anonymousreply 4January 21, 2023 6:54 PM

Get her

by Anonymousreply 5January 21, 2023 6:55 PM

[quote]“It’s a picture of a child, taken by her mother, of her playing in their backyard in a tub of water. Nothing more, nothing less.”

She lost me at "her."

by Anonymousreply 6January 21, 2023 7:09 PM

Get him

by Anonymousreply 7January 21, 2023 7:10 PM

Who cares

by Anonymousreply 8January 21, 2023 7:11 PM

America has always been a land of prudes. Social media in their hands is today's equivalent of the Salem witch hunts or the Inquisition.

by Anonymousreply 9January 21, 2023 7:12 PM

Child in a box is an obvious metaphor. I'm uneducated and miss subtleties but I understand what the meaning of the image is.

by Anonymousreply 10January 21, 2023 7:15 PM

[quote]… The Right Honourable the Lady Haden-Guest must cower from the woke Cancellation lynch mobs.

Aha — Jamie became a lady through marriage.

by Anonymousreply 11January 21, 2023 7:17 PM

[quote]Aha — Jamie became a lady through marriage.

But she became a cunt through sheer grit and determination, r11.

by Anonymousreply 12January 21, 2023 7:19 PM

R10 Care to enlighten the rest of us, please?

by Anonymousreply 13January 21, 2023 7:20 PM

[quote]which focused on the “beautiful Pollack chairs”

Who knew chairs had nationalities?

by Anonymousreply 14January 21, 2023 7:20 PM

Dude, its so obvious. Childhood can be an oppressive experience, a prison for some of us.

by Anonymousreply 15January 21, 2023 7:23 PM

I’ve always felt that something is very wrong with her.

by Anonymousreply 16January 21, 2023 7:26 PM

[quote]Child in a box is an obvious metaphor. I'm uneducated and miss subtleties but I understand what the meaning of the image is.

It was actually a photo of a naked child playing in a backyard tub, per Jamie.

by Anonymousreply 17January 21, 2023 7:27 PM

We begin our lives enclosed in a woman's box, r16.

by Anonymousreply 18January 21, 2023 7:27 PM

R15 Dude

by Anonymousreply 19January 21, 2023 7:28 PM

^r15

by Anonymousreply 20January 21, 2023 7:28 PM

R13 Dude just meant the kidded popped out of Jamie Lee's box.

by Anonymousreply 21January 21, 2023 7:28 PM

The photo is from the “Sweet is the Swamp” series by Betsy Schneider, and the kid is not really playing in a pool, but rather is crammed into a rubbermaid tub in a fetal position. Schneider’s work is ugly and creepy, not in a goth way, but in an upper-middle-class-Frau-with-poor-boundaries type of way.

by Anonymousreply 22January 21, 2023 7:38 PM

Publicity seeking.

by Anonymousreply 23January 21, 2023 7:39 PM

R22- Agreed. I was not familiar with the artist, but those are ordinary family snapshots that somehow got paid publicity.

They're the kind of photos that are sweet and funny when kept in a private album, and just plain weird when displayed publicly and sold. Especially the clearly posed ones.

by Anonymousreply 24January 21, 2023 7:55 PM

Maybe a genderless-looking child being put into a “box” speaks to Jamie.

by Anonymousreply 25January 21, 2023 8:01 PM

R25 Not sure if you’re joking or not but perhaps it does.

by Anonymousreply 26January 21, 2023 8:05 PM

R3 and r4 and people who whine about the "cancel mob" are the same kind of people who freak out over the term "LGBT" and support "Don't Say Gay" laws

by Anonymousreply 27January 21, 2023 8:09 PM

So..she had it in her home somehow and now that people know about it she wants to make a virtue signaling statement to cancel that she used it as decor? OK

by Anonymousreply 28January 21, 2023 8:09 PM

I'm dim. Does that hanging on the wall for 20 years have a relation to Jamie not having a working uterus? Or something even more sinister that must be cancelled?

by Anonymousreply 29January 21, 2023 8:11 PM

R26 It’s a hideous photo that looks like it was taken by John Wayne Gacy, so I’m just giving her the benefit of a doubt.

by Anonymousreply 30January 21, 2023 8:11 PM

That's a seriously fucked up image. There would have to be something wrong with a person who displays that.

by Anonymousreply 31January 21, 2023 8:12 PM

Could JLC be connected to the Boy In The Box disappearance that’s in the news again?

Police need to check this out. The photographic proof is right there.

by Anonymousreply 32January 21, 2023 8:13 PM

JFC.

She’s not an Epstein acolyte.

That said, she could have done so much more with that room. The chairs stay. Almost everything else had to go.

Also, who the fuck has decided to wage war against JLC, as of late? Are one of her kids pissed off at her, or does the husband have a mistress?

WTFIGOH?

by Anonymousreply 33January 21, 2023 8:16 PM

R33 I think it’s because she comes off as overly maternal, manic, and controlling. It’s amazing that her children grew up to be so normal and based.

by Anonymousreply 34January 21, 2023 8:27 PM

R33- Calling her Epstein-adjacent for this is so melodramatic. I'd expect nothing less from Twitter. It's a weird picture. That's it.

by Anonymousreply 35January 21, 2023 8:31 PM

Nothing sweet about a child naked and crammed into a container on full display. Something is really off here.

by Anonymousreply 36January 21, 2023 8:36 PM

[quote]It’s amazing that her children grew up to be so normal and based.

Well, one of them did.

by Anonymousreply 37January 21, 2023 8:38 PM

She deserves to be taken down. Halloween Ends SUCKED! Michael Myers was in there for 15 minutes!

by Anonymousreply 38January 21, 2023 8:41 PM

It’s likely just a picture that she prized of her childhood.

by Anonymousreply 39January 21, 2023 8:44 PM

She signaling something!!

by Anonymousreply 40January 21, 2023 8:45 PM

The picture offers a number of readings, including but not limited to the ones above. It's sad, creepy, claustrophobic, etc. Good art is like that. For fuck sake it's not like she was masturbating to it.

by Anonymousreply 41January 21, 2023 8:49 PM

Social media will only hasten the destruction of society.

by Anonymousreply 42January 21, 2023 8:50 PM

Bye Bye Oscar.

by Anonymousreply 43January 21, 2023 8:51 PM

She has praised her mentor Alok Vaid-Menon to the skies, even after being warned repeatedly about him and shown evidence that he called little girls "kinky" and implied that they brought abuse on themselves. Now this. No, I don't think she's any kind of perv or predator, but this is just such a DUMB thing to do. I used to think of her as very intelligent and sensible, but no more.

by Anonymousreply 44January 21, 2023 8:57 PM

If the Twitter Mob starts attacking your art it actually means you have sophisticated taste.

by Anonymousreply 45January 21, 2023 9:00 PM

Has Betsy done a "pebbles" series? Asking for a friend.

by Anonymousreply 46January 21, 2023 9:03 PM

A Boxshh?

by Anonymousreply 47January 21, 2023 9:04 PM

[quote]Has Betsy done a "pebbles" series?

Bitch, you better step off.

by Anonymousreply 48January 21, 2023 9:12 PM

R27 Um, no, the irresponsible cancel mob endangers the rights of LGBTs and seems intent on provoking as much backlash as it can from the right.

by Anonymousreply 49January 21, 2023 9:21 PM

R48- Maybe it's just the special gummies, but I laughed so hard at this.

by Anonymousreply 50January 21, 2023 9:22 PM

The fraus snd Q Anon are at it again. Moral panic, an American pastime.

by Anonymousreply 51January 21, 2023 9:51 PM

Gen Z doesn’t get art. Hell, they’ve called to ban it. They can’t think without something being dumbed down for them. Everything is triggering. I love the ones who can’t decide if they like an art piece until they find out if the artist wasn’t problematic. lol

by Anonymousreply 52January 21, 2023 9:53 PM

[quote]r41 The picture… is sad, creepy, claustrophobic, etc. Good art is like that. For fuck sake it's not like she was masturbating to it.

That we KNOW of!

This needs an inquest.

by Anonymousreply 53January 21, 2023 9:56 PM

I dislike her for bragging about her chairs.

by Anonymousreply 54January 21, 2023 10:35 PM

That is one ugly room. Are the grommet drapes with too-short curtain rod from Home Depot?

by Anonymousreply 55January 21, 2023 10:42 PM

R27, What the fuck are you talking about? Who said anything about supporting "Don't Say Gay" laws? You need to grow the fuck up just like those Twitter prudes, most of whom are probably from the left, not the right.

by Anonymousreply 56January 21, 2023 10:50 PM

Even putting this aside, I've always found her so fake and phony in all her interviews.

by Anonymousreply 57January 21, 2023 11:29 PM

"I am a truth-teller"

VOMIT

by Anonymousreply 58January 21, 2023 11:35 PM

This bitch has adopted every tiresome left-wing talking point she can spit out. Last week she was crying that nepo-babies were being "denied their right to exist". She needs to take several fucking seats.

by Anonymousreply 59January 21, 2023 11:44 PM

[quote]It’s amazing that her children grew up to be so normal and based.

Isn't one of them a trans? That's far from normal.

by Anonymousreply 60January 21, 2023 11:44 PM

[quote]“I took down the post because I didn’t want to keep something up that upset anyone,” continued Curtis.

Everything she says upsets me, so can she please permanently shut her trap?

by Anonymousreply 61January 21, 2023 11:47 PM

If that photo had been developed in a commercial photo lab it would have prompted a call to the police. I don’t understand how anyone could look at it and not find in disturbing at least.

by Anonymousreply 62January 22, 2023 12:08 AM

[quote]It’s amazing that her children grew up to be so normal and based.

[quote]Isn't one of them a trans? That's far from normal.

There you go… putting children in “boxes” because they don’t confirm to the inequitable gender tyrannies of a patriarchal society, as my image d’art so poignantly evokes. How dare you!

by Anonymousreply 63January 22, 2023 12:13 AM

The tranny boy is fat and married at Disney whilst cos playing. He is a fat hog.

by Anonymousreply 64January 22, 2023 12:17 AM

Is the photographer Anne Geddes?

by Anonymousreply 65January 22, 2023 12:31 AM

The New York Post is donald's uneducated MAGAts' newspaper of choice, Murdoch's print version of his Fox News.

Good for you, OP, keep linking it here like a good little delivery troll, earning you yet another night's bowl of nourishing borscht.

by Anonymousreply 66January 22, 2023 12:45 AM

[quote]Is the photographer Anne Geddes?

Yes — it’s from her “Precious Victims” series. In addition to “Child in Backyard Tub” there’s “Child Sleeping in a Vacant Lot,” Child Swinging from a Tree Branch,” and “Child Playing Hide-And Seek” (in a 10 gallon drum of wet cement).

by Anonymousreply 67January 22, 2023 12:56 AM

That entire room looks literally repulsive. I'd have to run away if I were invited to have a seat in there.

by Anonymousreply 68January 22, 2023 1:12 AM

Was it an Anne Geddes? Remember when she was so popular?

by Anonymousreply 69January 22, 2023 1:27 AM

Her pictures always revolted me - turning newborns into props. Gross!

by Anonymousreply 70January 22, 2023 1:38 AM

Jamie Lee is problematic and desperately in need of cancellation.

by Anonymousreply 71January 22, 2023 1:42 AM

It fits in with the Q-Anon conspiracies of Hollywood child abuse and even eating children.

But I can't believe that's her 'office' - looks like a cheap 1 BR 1970's rundown apartment.

by Anonymousreply 72January 22, 2023 1:45 AM

Who’d have thunk it wasn’t hiding her hermaphroditism that ultimately triggered her cancellation, but instead trying to show off those ugly chairs.

Pride goeth before a fall.

by Anonymousreply 73January 22, 2023 1:50 AM

Some queen dealer sold her those Knoll chairs, overpriced, and told her they where ne plus ultra of design. He found them in a thrift in Reno.

by Anonymousreply 74January 22, 2023 2:42 AM

Can't stand this cunt or prick, whatever they are. Its a father was a weirdo too.

by Anonymousreply 75January 22, 2023 2:52 AM

[quote]Yes — it’s from her “Precious Victims” series. In addition to “Child in Backyard Tub” there’s “Child Sleeping in a Vacant Lot,” Child Swinging from a Tree Branch,” and “Child Playing Hide-And Seek” (in a 10 gallon drum of wet cement).

So sweet! I have her "Child Playing in Abandoned Refrigerator."
