How can you not have trans options in the poll?

I CAPITALIZE to emphasize because I don't know how to do any basic formatting on DL - like make a word in boldface type.

I am one of the Mein Fuhrer posters. I’m sure you know which poll option I selected , and there’s nothing shameful or secret about it.

I don't do any of the above, but if the site was less glitchy I probably would do the history check for further context. I did it once or twice and would have to take off ignore and refresh about 10 times for the comments to come back.

Well I'm boring. Nothing on here gets me going, I just go with the flow. I do get a good laugh out of most threads. Thanks fellas.

Seriously, r5? I've been dealing with glitches on here off and on as well, but never had that happen.

I do put people on ignore and then they fall off of ignore immediately, even if there's room in my list for them.

I have never seen a thread get hijacked into a rape or a porn thread. I've only seen threads hijacked to be Meghan threads, trans threads, or other rightwing nutjob issues.

Years ago we used to be able to shut the hysterical trolls up by posting porn in a thread, but I don't think anyone has done that successfully for a decade or more.

One shouldn't be shameful of any of the behaviours on the OP's list.

The shameful behaviours are stupidity and illiteracy.

I always use exclamations, but only on the second sentence. The first sentence is typically declarative and calls out the bullshit at hand!

I make no apologies for calling out a poster who wrote "per ported" instead of "purported".

I'm not going to correct a their/they're/there grammatical error. But "per ported"?

DL has standards. Granted, they're in the basement, but we have standards.

I "gently, with kid gloves"* remind posters to read the thread.

* I am not kind and gentle, rather blunt.

I can be a mean girl to posters who seem to have lowish IQ yet dare to troll in coarse ways, or who are communicating something meant to be meta and snarky, yet failing.

I get impatient and cranky with posters who have low information literacy, yet, when poor and dated sources and bad information and misreadings are pointed out, dig in and say "so what, who cares."

The abysmally low general level of critical thinking and information literacy is very destructive to society. I wouldn't so much mind low information literacy and low critical thinking abilities if people were not so fucking around about being dim and lazy.

I don't like exclusively binary debates - good and bad - and I don't like debates that are set up as only jerry rigged competitions. The latter are also combined with ridiculous straw man opening gambits. An example might be: Why did everyone consider Actress A more beautiful than Actress B - when: 1) everyone did not and 2) many people never reflected in such binaries in the first place.

I don't like provocative trolling statements as opening gambits. In part because the statements do not reflect the writers point of view, if he has any point of view at all. And also because trolling statements are not interesting yet they are very effective. They solicit responses, and many of the responses will be trolling opposite statements. Rinse repeat. It's a low level of discourse. A grinding down.

I know some people think Greg is Defacto, but I think Greg is Gap Guy, and he used to get threads deleted quickly, but then he got his first account red tagged and permanently banned, so I think he was just using FFs and not actually contacting someone from DL to delete threads for him.

I cannot let an argument go. I can't just walk away. I have to win at all costs even if it means derailing a thread. I cannot stand misunderstandings or people who think they are right when they clearly are wrong. There is a such thing as a wrong opinion. BUT on the rare cases I am wrong about something, proven wrong in the thread, I never admit it and I sulk away and pretend I was never part of the thread to begin with. Once the fight is gone, so is my desire to follow it anymore.

It's not shameful, but my secret is that there's a red-named user on here who I fully believe is a troll account who falsely accuses people of being trolls on purpose, to undermine the entire idea of being able to identify who trolls are. My habit is that I quietly keep an eye on him. It's the only individual person on here I halfway "follow around."

Actually, r37, this is not a popular opinion, but I wish more people would just walk away as soon as they were proven wrong. Too many people will continue to say dumber and dumber things to try to defend themselves, and it's never funny or entertaining. Just leaving and moving on is one of the benefits of an anon forum like this.

It's the only thing for which I use the 'ignore' function.

This won't be much help, though, if they're using socks. In that case, you'll need to discern posting patterns, eclectic vocabulary / spellings / phrasing, or fixations, to tell who's who. Posters who have a particular boner for you and keep attacking using different accounts constitutes such a discernible pattern.

As silly as this sounds because we’re all anonymous, I prefer if that person acknowledges he’s wrong, incorrect or otherwise mistaken. I’ve surprisingly seen that done here and, to me, that’s a classy way of handling it. I know I’ve admitted my mistakes here.

You quoted me r54 and yes, I am serious. I've never seen it. The "pedo" accusations that I saw were mostly on anti-trans troll threads, so not really hijacking so much as just using troll talking points on what were already troll threads from the very beginning.
