Why do people hate Austin Butler so much?

Meh. I don't care about her, I barely know who she is. I don't actually care about him either.

I just think he looks incredibly stupid, as in bordering on brain-damaged.

He's totally fuckable but I'd need proof that he's not brain-damaged first.

Emma Stone won an Oscar for essentially playing herself in La La Land and she couldn’t sing or dance.

R6 It grossed 3x its budget and is the second highest grossing music biopic of all time. The reviews were good considering it’s a Baz Luhrman movie and he’s very polarizing. You tried it.

He’s not going to win the Oscar because everyone’s falling for Brendan Fraser’s sob story and the Academy hates rewarding hot young leading men.

I don’t think it’s an intense hatred or backlash but it is annoying that another mediocre white boy is being praised for doing nothing. His acting skills are subpar and he’s certainly not good looking. It does makes you wonder why he has a career and so many others do not.

He was great in Elvis. Denzel Washington pushed Baz to cast him in Elvis and later said it was obvious he was going to be a star. He’s not just some mediocre white boy.

Actually, Elvis grossed over $151M at BO and beat the pants off any number of films including The Woman King, The Fabelmans, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with You, The Menu, Strange World and Babble-On to name but a few and Butler won a Golden Globe as well. I doubt he will get the Oscar but if one looks at any number of films released the past year Elvis was a success.

I think the only one who hates him is probably Chalamet.

He has that pouty, smug look and yet he also has a look of stupidity. Some thing fake about him. He's got some talent. He did Broadway. He's been acting for a while. Something about him reminds me of Johnny Depp. Like, maybe he is a wannabe Johnny. I just don't like him. And yet I have to say on talk shows and interviews, he seems nice enough.

R31: Not for nothing but he’s only 31 so he’s still in the early stages of his career. At least he had the guts to do Broadway at his age. Chalamet just takes the biggest paycheck. Yes he has an irritating face and a healthy ego but so does everybody else in Hollywood.

He lost all the goodwill i had for him from the performance with the ridiculous affected speech. And Brendon Fraser got his ass grabbed and is viewed as an abuse victim. Good lord.
