He was great in Elvis. The voice change thing is silly but nothing to seriously be outraged by. And if you’re butthurt about him and Vanessa Hudgens breaking up, just remember this is the classy woman you’re advocating for.
Meh. I don't care about her, I barely know who she is. I don't actually care about him either.
I just think he looks incredibly stupid, as in bordering on brain-damaged.
He's totally fuckable but I'd need proof that he's not brain-damaged first.

I agree 100% with R1.
I think a better question is why are you so invested in Austin Butler, op?
Are you his publicist, or something?
Because honestly, this guy is more bland than plain yogurt.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | January 17, 2023 11:57 PM |
Hey, plain yogurt is at least tangy!!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | January 17, 2023 11:59 PM |
You don’t give that kind of performance in Elvis if you’re bland.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | January 17, 2023 11:59 PM |
I think it's more a case that no-one knows who he is.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | January 17, 2023 11:59 PM |
Why are you so obsessed with him, OP? "Elvis" was not a hit and did not make a huge critical splash. He's not going to win the Oscar.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | January 18, 2023 12:01 AM |
Emma Stone won an Oscar for essentially playing herself in La La Land and she couldn’t sing or dance.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | January 18, 2023 12:01 AM |
R6 It grossed 3x its budget and is the second highest grossing music biopic of all time. The reviews were good considering it’s a Baz Luhrman movie and he’s very polarizing. You tried it.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | January 18, 2023 12:02 AM |
He’s not going to win the Oscar because everyone’s falling for Brendan Fraser’s sob story and the Academy hates rewarding hot young leading men.

[quote] You don’t give that kind of performance in Elvis if you’re bland.
Someone is REALLY pushing for Austin to win an Oscar.
I will have a good laugh when he ends up getting snubbed, just like Bradley Cooper.
HA!!!
by Anonymous | reply 10 | January 18, 2023 12:04 AM |
At worst he’s pretentious but I don’t get the intense hatred for him.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | January 18, 2023 12:04 AM |
This film is a failure. Just admit it OP.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | January 18, 2023 12:13 AM |
Austin is nowhere near as attractive as Timmy.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 18, 2023 12:15 AM |
OP - 99.9999999% of planet Earth couldn't give a flying fuck about Austin Butler and don't even know who he is.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 18, 2023 12:15 AM |
Hmm.. the OP and R1 have already been put on Ignore for other posts.
I question their taste levels.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | January 18, 2023 12:17 AM |
I don’t think it’s an intense hatred or backlash but it is annoying that another mediocre white boy is being praised for doing nothing. His acting skills are subpar and he’s certainly not good looking. It does makes you wonder why he has a career and so many others do not.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | January 18, 2023 12:17 AM |
He’s fatt
by Anonymous | reply 17 | January 18, 2023 12:19 AM |
He was great in Elvis. Denzel Washington pushed Baz to cast him in Elvis and later said it was obvious he was going to be a star. He’s not just some mediocre white boy.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 18, 2023 12:19 AM |
R9, better to fall for a "sob story" than some teenybopper actor who will be forgotten in 2 years. Brendan Fraser has been famous for like 30 years. Austin Butler is a flash in the pan
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 18, 2023 12:19 AM |
My eyes! r13 s post assaulted them...I didn't read the text carefully and ended up being accosted by a Tim-rat pic.
Must read more thoroughly.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | January 18, 2023 12:20 AM |
R19 Everyone was clowning Brendan Fraser until it was revealed he was abused. The love is performative. The Whale has bad reviews too.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | January 18, 2023 12:20 AM |
There is no way this little shit is going to get an Oscar before me!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 22 | January 18, 2023 12:21 AM |
Denzel is a huge flamer who needs to go on.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 18, 2023 12:21 AM |
If we could just not hate Austin Butler so much. I we could just learn not to hate Austin Butler quite so very much.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 18, 2023 12:21 AM |
W&W, r24.

Timothee is a nepo baby who peaked in Call Me By Your Name.

Exactly.
Go tell him to kiss Will Smith's assaulting ass some more.

Actually, Elvis grossed over $151M at BO and beat the pants off any number of films including The Woman King, The Fabelmans, Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with You, The Menu, Strange World and Babble-On to name but a few and Butler won a Golden Globe as well. I doubt he will get the Oscar but if one looks at any number of films released the past year Elvis was a success.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | January 18, 2023 12:32 AM |
I think the only one who hates him is probably Chalamet.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | January 18, 2023 12:32 AM |
He has that pouty, smug look and yet he also has a look of stupidity. Some thing fake about him. He's got some talent. He did Broadway. He's been acting for a while. Something about him reminds me of Johnny Depp. Like, maybe he is a wannabe Johnny. I just don't like him. And yet I have to say on talk shows and interviews, he seems nice enough.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | January 18, 2023 12:37 AM |
[quote] He did Broadway. He's been acting for a while.
The fact that he's been doing all of this, plus he's in his 30's and he still doesn't have much name recognition should tell you that something is off.
If he was really all that, Austin would be more of a household name by now.
To be honest, I have never even heard of him before seeing the countless threads posted about him on Datalounge. Otherwise, I still wouldn't know who he is.
Bottom line? If he coulda been, he woulda been.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | January 18, 2023 12:40 AM |
R28 Right. Yet no-one has ever heard of him.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | January 18, 2023 12:40 AM |
He just won a Golden Globe for his first leading role.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | January 18, 2023 12:41 AM |
R31: Not for nothing but he’s only 31 so he’s still in the early stages of his career. At least he had the guts to do Broadway at his age. Chalamet just takes the biggest paycheck. Yes he has an irritating face and a healthy ego but so does everybody else in Hollywood.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | January 18, 2023 12:50 AM |
He lost all the goodwill i had for him from the performance with the ridiculous affected speech. And Brendon Fraser got his ass grabbed and is viewed as an abuse victim. Good lord.
